Wing Gundam Fenice and Lightning Gundam - Should You Pull?

Banner Image

Pilots!

Today we've got another edition of Should You Pull, brought to you by Scubasage on our discord server at https://discord.gg/JTsv8gX. Check out my assessment of this week's banners below!

Hello everyone, Scubasage back again! Once more I'll be skipping the HC across the week. These articles are going to continue to come late and quite frankly the HC totals across the week is, well, not that important. You know if you have enough to pull after all.

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.2% for a single Part, which is 50x 10-pulls or 500 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 5,400 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Piercing, B in Power, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats are at Max Value, but all EX Skills and Part Traits will be considered at Level 1 (One).

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a Standard banner, which means they will be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule when the week is up. Finally, I will not be factoring Marks into the review, as comparing banner parts to banner parts doesn't change with or without marks.

Banner Grade: D

Summary: This banner has a 1% (3.33%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0% chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

This banner is, to put it lightly...awful. The few semi-decent parts it has are only barely better than average, with nothing really standing out as being amazing.

I would skip.

Wing Fenice

HGBF Wing Fenice

Head: C

A pretty bog standard Head, except it has slightly above average SATK at 2791. On the flip side, it has Head Vulcans, so yeah...

Chest: D

Average stats besides a high Melee DEF at 1608, along side more Vulcans. Similar to Susanowo or Rebawoo Torso Vulcans, these are not good.

Arms: D

High Melee DEF again at 3186 for this combined part, but a dismally below average 1982 Melee ATK. The EX Skill is a D/B+, 19 (5) Beam Melee skill that features an interesting cutscene.

Legs: B+

799 Shot ATK puts these well above average, and the Overkill skill seen here is possibly the best Shooter one available, being a D/A 79 (20) Beam Shot with a 39% Shot ATK Boost attached to it.

Backpack: C

Average stats besides a high Melee DEF at 1608 and a trait that boosts EX Skill Piercing by 28% when attacking with Beam. It's not bad, but it's not really good either.

Beam Rapier: F

Dismally low 1982 Melee ATK, the trait boosts Strong Crit Rate by 30% when below 70% Armor. This is trash.

Buster Rifle Custom: B

Slightly above average Shot ATK at 3590, the trait boosts Sp. Shot Crit Rate by 30% when Technique Attribute.

Aesthetics: A

I do quite enjoy this take on the Wing Gundam, both because I think the cream and green works better with red and yellow than the traditional white and blue does, but also because the asymmetry makes this kit stand out from standard Gunpla.

Lightning Gundam

HGBF Lightning Gundam

Head: B+

A solid 3177 Shot ATK and a trait that boosts Long Shot Attack by 20% when using a Long Shooter Job.

Chest: C+

Average stats except for tanky 1602 Armor and Shot DEF stats, and a trait to increase EX Skill Piercing by 28% when Speed Attribute.

Arms: D

Extremely low 796 Melee ATK, high 1602 Shot DEF, and a A-/D Beam Shot Magazine Skill with 11 uses...but it's a Vulcan skill.

Legs: C

Standard legs with that tanky 1602 Shot DEF and then a standard Rapid Thrust EX Skill, D/A- Beam Melee at 21 (6).

Backpack: C+

Like the Legs, standard stats with a tanky 1602 Shot DEF. The EX Skill here is a ton of missiles with a mini cutscene, a B/B Physical Shot skill at 21 (6).

Beam Rifle (Long Barrel): B

A very high 3997 Shot ATK and an A+/C- Beam Shot at 21 (6).

Beam Rifle (Lightning): B+

Also sporting a high 3997 Shot ATK, this one has a trait that boosts your EX Skill Power by 30% when facing an enemy with the Long-Range tag active.

Shield: C

A decently high Shot DEF at 2380, this shield comes with a trait to boost Debuff Skill Effect by 22% when Speed Attribute.

Aesthetics: C

I was never much of a fan of the Zeta to begin with, and I think this is a strictly worse looking Zeta.

AI Pilots Tobia Arronax (4*) and Andrew Waltfeld (3*)

Pilot Banner Image

Banner Grade: C

This is another banner where the 4* pilot is fantastic, but the 3* pilot is so bad that it drags the banner down. I'd probably avoid this one as a result.

Tobia Arronax: S

Tobia is an In-Fighter with 1602 Melee ATK, Protag and Close Combat word tags. That's enough to rocket him into the #1 In-fighter slot. His trait just pushes him further up, boosting Buff EX Skill Effects by 22% when Speed Attribute.

Andrew Waltfeld: F

Here's another Seed pilot they did dirty. Andrew is a Middle-Shooter with incredibly low 291 Shot ATK and a trait that reduces enemy EX Skill Piercing by 22% when Power Attribute.
