Event Overview

Update: This guide has now been updating with new details available after the event started.

The Chamber of Secrets has been opened again! Grab your friends (but maybe not your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor) and get ready to take on Slytherin’s Basilisk in this special 48-hour Halloween event.

  • Start: Wednesday, October 30 at 11:00 PDT / 18:00 UTC

  • End: Friday, November 1 at 11:00 PDT / 18:00 UTC

Note: Due to the end of Summer Time / Daylight Savings, players in some countries may notice the event start and end an hour earlier than typical for events. Double check your timezone!

The main focus of the event will be the new Harrowing Halloween Chamber available in Fortresses. Here, players will be able to battle new Foes (like the Basilisk) which will be necessary to complete the Special Assignments.

Event Features

Here’s the full, official list of event features and bonuses:

  • A limited-time Halloween Special Assignment with exclusive rewards, including a new Title and Badge for your Ministry ID.

  • Harrowing Halloween Chamber where Dark Arts Runestones will unlock unique foes including a Dark Witch, a Dark Ministry Official and Slytherin's Basilisk, all of which grant increased Dark Arts Family XP.

  • Increased sightings of Dark Arts Family Traces, as well as Moaning Myrtle and Young Ginny Weasley Traces.

  • A free store bundle will be available in the Diagon Alley shop with Dark Arts Runestones and Spell Energy.

  • Partner Fortresses grant bonuses, including increased chances of encountering Slytherin's Basilisk, bonus Dark Arts Family XP, and increased Spell Energy in Chambers level 4 and higher.

Updates from Event Start

Now that the event is live, here is a quick summary of everything you need to know:

  • The Special Assignment is fast and easy

The new Foes spawn very commonly as long as you use a Dark Arts Runestone in the Harrowing Halloween Chamber. It's Ruins IV difficulty. Many players have reported finishing all tasks in about half an hour or less.

  • Slytherin's Basilisk is an Elite Foe

With 15 Spell Books up for grabs for completing the Elite Foes Defeated III Achievement, now is an excellent time to use those spare Dark Arts Runestones to work on that Achievement.

  • If your SOS Bundle was bugged, contact Support

At the start of the event, some players bought the bundle but did not receive their potions. The issue appears to have been fixed now. Players who did not receive the potions during the bug have been told to contact the in-game support.

  • Brazil only: Free Gift after Community Day issues

Due to a mistake on the Wizards Unite team's part, Community Day started an hour early in parts of Brazil, causing players to miss some of the event. Players in Brazil have reported a new free bundle appearing in Diagon Alley, seemingly in apology for the issues. It contains:

  • 10 Level 1 Dark Arts Runestones

  • 5 Level 2 Dark Arts Runestones

  • 3 Level 3 Dark Arts Runestones

  • 1 Level 5 Dark Arts Runestone

  • 1 Baruffio's Brain Elixir

  • 30 Spell Energy

New Foes

This event brings us three new Foes to battle in Fortresses. Here’s what’s currently in the game files about them:

Foe Affinity Profession
Slytherin's Basilisk Beast Magizoologist
Dark Witch Curiosity Professor
Dark Ministry Official Dark Force Auror

During the 48-hour event, players will be able to encounter these new Foes in Fortresses, but they’re not guaranteed to show up every time. Here’s how to find them:

  • Battle in the Harrowing Halloween Chamber in Fortresses (required)

  • Use Dark Arts Runestones (required)

  • Use higher level Runestones (optional, increases chances)

  • Battle in groups (optional, increases chances)

Early reports suggest that the new Foes are extremely common (and extremely easy), but they only show up in the Harrowing Halloween Chamber when using a Dark Arts Runestone.

Tips for the Event

To help you prepare and make the most of the event, here are our top tips:

Save your Dark Arts Runestones

Those who played during Community Day (or will play, for the timezones given a make-up day) will likely have plenty of Runestones for the event. While the event Foes aren’t guaranteed, we expect that, with the 48-hour time limit, they’ll show up pretty frequently.

Those who missed Community Day will want to gather as many Dark Arts Runestones as possible this week. Work on completing Dark Arts traces and hope for Dark Arts Family XP from Portkeys to reduce the risk of needing to buy Runestones to complete the event.

Plan a meetup

While it’s possible to complete the event playing solo, the rewards for playing in groups are significant with Fortresses. With only 48 hours for the event, now is the time to talk to your friends or look for other local players to organise a time to meetup and help each other complete the tasks—especially for those who have other Halloween plans to fit in.

But don’t stress it

Of course, with only 48 hours to complete the event, fitting Wizards Unite, holiday plans, and your usual day-to-day plans can be a lot. While the event should be fun, players who miss it won’t be left behind.

There’s no new event-only Registry page, and the Special Assignment rewards are small enough that they won’t make much difference in skill tree progression. If you’re just too busy to complete it, just enjoy your Halloween, and we’ll see you next event!
