Event Overview

After a week long break, the Potter’s Calamity Brilliant event is coming back for part two. As with other Brilliant events, this is a great chance to earn exclusive Restricted Section Books as well as Gold, scrolls, special event runestones, and more.

Part Two begins Tuesday, July 30 at 11:00 PDT / 18:00 GMT and runs for exactly one week, until Tues, August 6 at 11:00 PT / 18:00 GMT. During Part Two, players will be able to complete a new set of Special Assignments and fill in a new Registry page.

Note: While the theme (Potter’s Calamity) and Registry family are the same as Part One, all of the Special Assignments, rewards, and event-exclusive Foundables are different and only available during Part Two.

Read on for full details of the event plus some tips on how to prepare and how to make the most of the rewards available during this event.

Completing the Registry

There are four ways to collect Foundables for this event and complete the Registry. To finish the page, players will need to do all four, as each Foundable in the Registry will only be available via one specific method.

  • Trace encounters
  • Special Assignment rewards
  • Fortress rewards
  • Portkey rewards

Currently, the only Foundable available in Trace encounters will be the Brilliant Golden Snitch. Three more (DMLE Badge, London Five Photograph, Framed Family Photograph) are only available as rewards for completing the Special Assignments.

Fragments of the Fortress-exclusive Foundable, Hogwarts Heroes Daily Prophet, will only be available by using Potter’s Calamity Runestones (available as rewards for ranking up the Potter’s Calamity Registry) in Wizarding Challenges. Harry’s Ministry ID Card will only be found in 7km Portkeys.

Note: 7km Portkeys unlocked before the event may not reward Harry’s Ministry ID Card. Be sure to wait until after the event has started to finish walking any 7km Portkeys to ensure getting the correct fragments.

Event Rewards

Of course, this event is more than just an opportunity to complete some Special Assignments and fill in a new Registry page. Players can earn Restricted Section Books, available only during certain events, and stock up on Runestones and Scrolls.

To earn Restricted Section Books, players simply need to complete the Special Assignments during the event. Even just completing some of the tasks will reward players with some of these books, though completing the entire set of tasks will net the largest rewards.

By ranking up the Potter’s Calamity Registry, players can also earn lots of Scrolls and Runestones. This is especially important as these resources become harder and harder to get outside of events as players finish out the early Registry ranks.

To rank up the Registry, be sure to focus on the event-exclusive Foundables. Traces are the easiest and most reliable source of Family XP, but don’t forget about Fortresses (be sure to use a Potter’s Calamity Runestone!) and the special 7km Portkeys either.

How to Prepare

While we wait for the event to start, here are some last-minute tips to help you prepare:

Save up 2km Portkeys

The second stage of the Special Assignments requires unlocking four Portkeys. If you have any 2km Portkeys, hold off on unlocking them for now. Whether you’re using silver keys or not, 2km Portkeys will be the quickest and easiest to unlock.

If you don’t have any 2km Portkeys, you might want to hurry and unlock some Portkeys now so you can be sure to pick up some 2km Portkeys before the event starts and 2km Portkeys become rarer. Otherwise, you might decide to try your luck by not walking the last bit of your Portkeys until after reaching the second set of assignments.

Brew up some potions

Be sure you have Exstimulo Potions and Dawdle Draughts aplenty to help return all of the Brilliant Golden Snitches you can. Brilliant event Treasure Trunks are a great source of Scrolls, so you’ll want to return as many as possible to keep ranking up.

Stock up ingredients for 2hr potions

The current list of tasks asks players to brew 8 potions. With only a week to complete all of the tasks, you don’t want to get stuck brewing Baruffio’s Brain Elixir. Healing Potions and basic Exstimulo potions are the fastest options, so be sure to save up ingredients for one or both to get through the brewing tasks quickly.

Pace yourself

Players will have one week exactly to complete each set of the Special Assignments. Most active players should be able to get through all of the assignments in the week without serious grinding, but it’s worth noting where players might get stuck.

The second set of assignments will likely be longest (unless you use silver keys) due to needing to walk four Portkeys. Having portkeys ready but unopened won’t help either, so you’ll need to get the game open and walk those Portkeys to finish this one.

The other time-consuming assignment is in the fourth and final set of assignments: brew eight potions. Thankfully, this one just requires having the ingredients, putting on some potions, and coming back later (or just paying gold to complete potions), so it won’t require a lot of active play to get through, just time or gold.

Event Dialogue

Each Foundable added to the Registry will unlock a snippet of Dialogue. To view the Event Dialogue, click to expand the drop-down accordion

Harry's Calamity Page 2 Dialogue

Introduction

"Harry, a lot of our volunteers have been finding Foundables from your office. Why would that be?"

"Because the Calamity hates me? Seriously, it probably has to do with that recent article in The Prophet."

"The one with your picture? That praised your work for the SOS Task Force?"

"Yes, Hermione has a theory that the Calamity seems to choose Foundables based on public perception."

"Sounds to me like you need to stay clear of the papers."

Brilliant Golden Snitch

"Well, I'm glad that particular Snitch got returned. I've always held onto it for some reason."

Brilliant Hogwarts Heroes Daily Prophet

"The Prophet has been having a go at the Ministry for our handling of the Calamity, and sometimes I wonder if they aren't right. Without the help of Task Force volunteers like you, we'd be in real trouble."

Brilliant DMLE Badge

"My greatest ambition as a student was becoming an Auror. It's really the only career I ever considered after Hogwarts."

Brilliant Framed Family Photo (Ginny, Albus, James, Lily)

"That picture is from when we went on holiday. Unfortunately, with the Calamity in full swing, I'm not sure anyone is getting a holiday this summer."

Brilliant Harry's Ministry ID Card

"The Calamity is stealing such mundane things, there's no rhyme or reason to it. Even if we could manipulate it intentionally, to what end?"

Brilliant London Five Photograph

"When the investigation into the disappearance of the London Five was shuttered, we stopped looking for them... "officially."

Conclusion

"You know what? My birthday is coming up. I think I'll take a break from the Calamity to celebrate with my family."

"Dumbledore used to remind us always to try and find the light in the darkness."

Conclusion

Now that you’re all ready, the only thing left to do is wait for the event to start! We’ll continue to update this guide as more information (such as the full list of Special Assignments) is available, so be sure to check back soon!
