Witches and wizards in Boston are in for a special treat this weekend, as the magic of LeakyCon returns to its original home. We’ve checked out the convention space already and yes, there is a Fortress in range (as long as your GPS cooperates).
While it might not come with a load of in-game bonuses like Wizards Unite Fan Festival did (it’s a fan-run event, after all), it’s looking to be an exciting weekend with something to do for everyone, including Wizards Unite players!
For those not attending LeakyCon, we’ll be live-tweeting and live-blogging highlights of some of the programming and meetups. Follow us on Twitter @WizardsUnite_GP to keep up with the latest news, and look out for the live-blog too.
What Is LeakyCon?
LeakyCon, for those not familiar with it, is a Harry Potter fan convention, taking place this weekend, October 11-13, in Boston, Massachusetts. This is LeakyCon’s tenth year running, and the programming is just as jam-packed with panels, performances, and presentations as ever.
From impassioned talks on obscure bits of canon, like “The Vastly Misunderstood Plight of Marietta Edgecombe”, to House meetups, from the wizard rock concert (yes, that’s music about Harry Potter) to the Cosplay Parade and Contest—LeakyCon has a smorgasbord of magical options for Potter fans of all kinds.
Wizards Unite Meetups
Looking to find other Wizards Unite players at LeakyCon? While the GamePress Narwhal will be swimming around the convention all weekend (feel free to say hi!), we have a few set times for meetups! Here’s where you’ll find us:
Friday, 4:30pm, Waterfront Ballroom
Writing in the World of Potter — We’ll listen to Matt London, writer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, talk about writing new storylines in the Wizarding World. After the talk, we’ll join up for some Fortress battles.
Saturday, 12:45pm, Harborview Ballroom
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery - A Retrospective — Join us to hear Matt London’s presentation, including “what’s next for video games set in the world of Harry Potter.”
Saturday, evening, TBD
We are considering doing a dinner meetup somewhere in range of a Fortress Saturday after programming and before the ball. Keep an eye on Twitter (@WizardsUnite_GP) for updates, and let us know if you know of any good restaurants nearby that might work!
Sunday, 5:30pm, outside Mainstage
As the convention ends, join us for one last meetup and Fortress run!
