PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Charm hits hard with STAB and is the best choice for offense.

  • Pound has STAB and is great in itself, but lacks type coverage.

  • Feint Attack can hit Psychic and Ghost-types super effectively.

  • Play Rough and Dazzling Gleam perform similarly on offense.

  • Disarming Voice is an inferior Fairy Type move

  • Hyper Beam does good neutral damage, but Wigglytuff’s Fairy charge moves are better.
  • Ice Beam and Icy Wind lack STAB.

  • Swift isn't good.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Charm is the superior option for defense, and hits hard with STAB.

  • Feint Attack is somewhat superior to Pound on defense.

  • Icy Wind has similar coverage to Wigglytuff's Fairy Type moves and comes out frequently, making it the superior option.

  • Play Rough is great due to high power and an early damage window.

  • Dazzling Gleam is a stronger 2-bar move, though it’s easy to dodge.

  • Disarming Voice is an inferior Fairy Type move

  • Hyper Beam is very telegraphed and Wigglytuff’s bulk is actually quite bad for using it.
  • Ice Beam has an early damage window and good coverage but lacks STAB.

  • Swift isn't a good move.

PVE Overview

In days of yore (aka 2016), Wigglytuff was the surprise winner of Niantic’s stat conversion formula, with decent offensive stats relative to all other species that was bolstered by massive HP.

2016 feels like a long time ago. Wigglytuff is now bad. Its offense is decidedly trash, and while players still hype its huge HP, Wigglytuff’s double digit Def renders it about as frail as everything else. Its only positive attribute is a low max CP that lets it demotivate in gyms more slowly.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Charm + Disarming Voice and Icy Wind

Finally! Wigglytuff finally gets Charm which significantly increases its performance in PvP, not to mention benefiting from STAB.

Icy Wind is Wigglytuff's cheapest attack and is necessary for shield pressure due to Charm's low energy generation; the combination of shields and Icy Wind's debuff can allow Wigglytuff to survive for a very long time. Disarming Voice offers the same cost and helps further increase Wigglytuff's Fairy damage output. Ice Beam, Play Rough, Dazzling Gleam, and Hyper Beam are all too expensive to be used consistently.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 4 / 5

Wigglytuff's niche is a Charmer that boasts a double resistance to Ghost.

As a Charmer, it deal oppressive Fast Attack pressure and breaks apart popular Pokemon such as Sableye, Umbreon, and Medicham. Wigglytuff's Ghost resistance safeguards it against the likes of Trevenant, Sableye, Jellicent, and Lickitung much more effectively than other Charmers like Alolan Ninetales and Clefable.

The addition of Icy Wind to its movepool on December 2023 helps further separate it from Alolan Ninetales, as Wigglytuff's added longevity allows it to sweep opponents more effectively under shields.

Ultra League: 2.5 / 5

The level 50 update enables Wigglytuff to improve its performance in Ultra League with XL candy, although it still does not reach 2500 CP. Wigglytuff has one niche in its ability to wall both of Giratina's STABs, allowing it to effortlessly Charm Giratina down. Practically speaking, however, it's just vastly inferior to the likes of Alolan Ninetales and Clefable.

Master League: 0 / 5

Wigglytuff doesn't have the stats needed for Master League.
