  • Surprising to many, Niime enters the game as a Colorless Tome with an inheritable tome which many may recognize as Plegian Tome+. At the time of this article, there are currently no other inheritable tomes for her class type meaning she is stuck with Hvítrvulture+, which while not a bad weapon by any means, forces her into a specific niche. As such, there will only be one build, for the enemy phase, and when more inheritable tomes become available to her, more builds will be added.

  • As Niime will be specializing in the enemy phase, she can either opt for more damage output or sustain. Iceberg is a solid option all-around if you plan to stack her Res stat with other skills as she will more than likely not be taking that much damage from foes that target Res. However, given her low HP and Def stat, it is always possible that she can be chipped or take massive damage in general, so sustain is never a bad option.

  • Any A Passive that increases her Atk, Def, or Res will be good options for her enemy phase role. Obviously, her two best stats are her Atk and Res, so she can always stick with her innate Atk/Res Solo 4 since it synergizes well with her tome. You can also swap it out for Mirror Stance 3 if you want to inflict Guard on foes during combat, which can also help with sustainability purposes as the foe will not be able to charge Specials. Lastly, there’s Distant Def which can help her with general ranged tanking, and patching up her Def stat is never a bad idea.

  • There are a lot of options for Niime’s B Passive. One of Niime’s best B Passive options will be Null C-Disrupt as she is able to successfully tank Stave units and counter back without any drawbacks. For general tanking and damage output, she can pick up Lull Atk/Res as foes won’t be able to buff their Atk stat and Res stat while simultaneously allowing her to deal more damage in general thanks to the additional debuff. If you want to invest in her Spd stat, she can run Null Follow-Up, which can be good against Impact effects as well as guaranteed follow-up attacks from foes. However, if you feel that you can’t justify her Spd stat, she can always run Quick Riposte instead, albeit with a bit of issue as her HP stat is fairly low. For synergy and consistency with her weapon, she can either run Sabotage Atk or Sabotage Res and swap out her innate Atk/Res Menace. And finally, for the most budget of options, she can run Dull Ranged for negating the foes’ visible buffs.

  • Depending on where you use Niime, she can either stick with her innate Atk/Res Menace or opt for more consistent skills such as Joint Dist. Guard, which is great for ranged tanking as it provides a flat +4 to her Def/Res against ranged foes, or one of two Smoke skills: Res Smoke or Atk Smoke. The Smokes can be useful for instances where she has to enter multiple combats against nearby foes.

  • Niime has a lot of viable options for her Sacred Seal. One of the notable choices that come to mind is Atk/Res Solo as it stacks with her innate Atk/Res Solo 4 A Passive. Distant Def is another great option for tanking in general as she’ll appreciate the extra Def against Bow and Dagger foes. Quick Riposte is good if you want to double more often, but keep in mind that she doesn’t have the best HP stat so she can fall out of the threshold quite easily. Mystic Boost is good for sustain. Simple as that. And last but not least, there’s Heavy Blade which can synergize really well with Iceberg triggers and her innate Atk/Res Menace.

Strengths

High Attack

Niime starts out with a massive base Atk stat of 42, which can be bolstered to 46 with a superboon. That, alongside her Hvítrvulture+, means she will be outputting lots of damage in most cases.

High Resistance

Having a base Res stat of 43 means that Niime will not struggle to take on foes that target her Res stat. Even with a low HP stat, it’ll be difficult for them to pierce through that type of bulk.

Colorless

Being a Colorless tome means that she has no color weaknesses, which is great for overall tanking. She can still be countered every so often by weapons that have an advantage over Colorless, as well as specific units that have effectiveness against Mages, but the trade-off is more than worth it.

Weaknesses

Lack of Inheritable Tomes

At the time of this article, the only inheritable tome that Niime has access to is her innate Hvítrvulture+ which is essentially Plegian Tome+. This, in turn, locks her to a specific niche as well as limits her support capabilities as her weapon relies on being solo. That being said, this weakness will not age well as we are guaranteed to get more inheritables in the future. However, while that may be the case, it is still an issue she must face at this time.

Low Physical Bulk

Niime having a base HP stat of 36 and a base Def stat of 17 limits how many hits she can take from foes that target her Def stat. This can be an issue as a ranged tank as there may be instances where she must face a Bow or Dagger foe. She can always stack that stat up with skills such as Distant Def, and her Hvítrvulture+ which can provide additional bulk by inflicting penalties on foes during combat. However, it’ll only take her so far.

If unit is not adjacent to an ally, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Res during combat = 5 + any current penalty on each of those stats. (Example: if foe has -7 penalty to Atk, inflicts Atk-12, for a net penalty of Atk-19 during combat.) Calculates each stat penalty independently.
