PUBG Rolls out Update 4.3 with Cross-Platform Ability on Console
- Newest PUBG Update features Cross-Platform play on Console
- Other updates include the arrival of Season 4, a new Survival Mastery Feature, and a new weapon
PUBG Allows Cross-Platform Play
For the first time ever, Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to face off against each other on the Battlefield. With the 4.3 Update that was just released today, PUBG now has Cross-Platform Play capabilities. Cross-Platform Play can be turned on/off in the "Settings - Gameplay - General Settings" Menu. If a match cannot be found after a certain time with Cross-Platform Play off, you will be prompted to switch the feature on.
The Platform Logo will also be featured in front of their ID and on the Season Leaderboard. Players will also be able to identify the platform of other users in loot box, when spectating, on user status message, etc. Currently, a Cross-Platform Party feature is not supported so while you can be matched with players from other platforms, you will not be able to join a party with them. They are working on developing a cross party feature, however.
Additional Updates
In addition to the Cross-Platform playability, the new update also featured the launch of Season 4, a new Survival Mastery system, and a new weapon.
Survivor Title System Season 4
Survival Title System Season 4 has arrived with new season rewards!
- Survival Title System Season 4 begins once Console Update 4.3 hits live servers.
- Survival Points (SP) earned from the preseason are transferred.
- UPDATE: Players will receive a 1000 SP bonus in each mode they’ve participated in during the pre-season. The bonus no-longer applies exclusively to those who have achieved 1970 SP due to an unexpected technical difficulty.
- SP gains have been increased significantly in Erangel, Miramar, and Vikendi to make SP earned more fair across all maps with a similar time played.
New Feature: Survival Mastery
In the Survival Mastery system, players can develop their less-than-lethal aspects of PUBG gameplay. This companion system to Weapon Mastery, which allows players to progress their skill in gunplay, will also introduce new ways for players to express their personalities on the Battlegrounds with new rewards and PUBG ID.
- Survival Mastery is a new progression system where players increase levels by gaining XP based on the players’ survival patterns.
- The system operates all the time without being affected by seasons. The Level cap for Survival Mastery is 500.
- Players can earn XP in the following situations:
- Looting
- Using items during combat
- Combat
- Reviving a teammate
New Weapon: DBS
“The DPS on the DBS is OMG!”
- The DBS is a double-barrel pump-action bullpup shotgun that can only be initially obtained from Care Packages.
- It has two internal magazine tubes that allow the user to load up to fourteen 12-gauge rounds.
- Thanks to those combined firing mechanics, DBS can produce massive bursts of damage in a short time span.
- The upper rail of the gun allows a Holographic, Red Dot Sight, and 2x to 6x Scopes.
- The maximum effective range to deal damage with the DBS is 100 m.
And much, much more.

Concluding Thoughts
It seems Cross-Platform Play is the new up and coming trend in games. With games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launching with the feature, it won't be surprising to see more games following the movement. And it makes sense - the ability to match with even more people makes for an overall better game experience with less wait time. Once they launch the Cross-Platform Party feature, that will allow for even more gameplay inclusivity.
