Best Epic and Rare Dinos (Sim Results)

There aren't a ton of dinos to choose from for this skills tournament, and likely they could be dinos that you haven't played with for a while.

So which Dinos are the best?

To answer that we went back to our Battle Simulator tool and did a simulation of all Epic and Rare Hybrid dinos against each other.

Our Battle Simulator is a tool that was developed by the creator of the Jurassic World Alive Field Guide, and it runs matchups for every combination we want it to. It runs 1v1 matchups for all creatures against all creatures, selecting the best move possible for each turn. It then calculates a win/loss/tie percentage and that is then compiled into a data sheet.

Our Sim Results, therefore, are excellent in 1v1 matchups like the very start of the match. However, you should always keep in mind that the battles in JWA are a 4v4, and that it is very rarely a true 1v1. So while these numbers are very useful for seeing who wins the most, you should always keep in mind your own playstyle and possibly other uses that won't be seen as much in our Battle Sim, like Swap in Abilities or On Escape Abilities.

Because we want to give you the most accurate results, we took the top 18 in our original findings and put those against each other. That will give us a better understanding on how those do against each other. So in the image you are about to see you will see the results of the top 18 being pitted against each other, not these creatures versus all creatures.

With that disclaimer out of the way, here are the results! To quickly explain the numbers: Green numbers are win percentages, red numbers are loss percentages and blue numbers are Swap out Percentages. If there is any situation where the added number isn't 100% there are probably some rounding issues involved.

So without further ado, here are the top 18 Rare and Epic Hybrid dinos ranked in order according to the simulator we ran:

Team Building

After seeing these results you might be thinking, "How do I use these results to make the best team?" We will try to help you out with that! We will give you some threats to keep in mind as well as some great checks to those creatures that you might have forgotten about.

Sarcorixis:

This creature will soon become the bane of many peoples existence. High health, high damage, and deceleration immunity, what more could you want? A perfect counter for this beast is Indom Gen 2, as you can mutual fury to become faster and then one shot the Rixis with rampage. Another great counter would be Entelochops with its stun and speed decrease immunity.

Brontolasmus:

With 30% armor, 2 rampages and deceleration immunity, this is a force to be reckoned with! Two slowing moves and a shield move really help this beast in destroying non-fierce opponents. Counters to Bronto include Thylacotator, Gorgosuchus and Purutasaurus or Purrolyth.

Entelochops:

This fierce-resilient can be a total nightmare! The toolkit includes decel impact, revenge rampage (no delay), and defense shattering rampage. With 126 speed and decel immunity, you’re going to have a tough time out speeding this one. To counter it, use creatures with bleed and defense shattering moves such as Suchotator, Gorgosuchus and Purrolyth.

Purrolyth and Purutasaurus:

These 2 counter-attackers can take down almost any tank in 3-4 turns! They only suffer from one issue and that is their counter attack is rend based. This means that anything with rend resistance can pretty easily take them down, for example Indom Gen 2. They also both feature no escape and can be helpful in pinning a low health opponent (so long as its not swap prevention resistent/immunue)

Stegoceratops and Einiasuchus:

Similar to Woolly Rhino, both provide an unforgivable 1,000 damage swap in that you cannot prepare for unless you predict it. It can be a real pain to deal with. Once swapped in, however, they are quite easy to deal with especially if you have a chomper such as Gorgosuchus. You can use Sarcorixis or Purut/Purrolyth to lock them in to prevent them swapping out then swapping back in again.

Erlikogamma:

This is a great cunning creature to use if you’re looking for one! With 130 speed and an immediate 2x damage it can be devastating. While countering it is easy with any resilient, it can still pack a punch. If you don’t like the matchup then you can easily get out with strike and run.

Concluding Thoughts

Well We have reached the beginning off the final season of 2020 with our first lot of 4 weeks featuring Epic Hybrids. We hope that Ludia will one day decide to switch up these Tournaments a bit, as continually having these Epic and Rare Tournaments each month is getting a bit stale. What Tournament setup would you like to see? Let us know in our Discord server! We hope to see you on there!
