JWA Festive Bonus: Continuation of Creature Suggestions?

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Reading a creature suggestion through the creature suggestions and reworks channel of our Discord server sometimes can be interesting to see how it would act out in a battle. But in some cases, they could also be irritating if the result turns out to be pretty complicated and flabbergasting. Back in August when my community article of new creature suggestions and their way of combating power-creep was published, I didn’t expect the positive reactions and feedback from the different suggestions. What’s more, I indirectly predicted some new creatures in later updates through the previous article (although it’s mostly just a coincidence):

If you haven’t seen the previous article yet, here’s a link to take you there.

1. Tiger got a hybrid in the name of Atrocimoloch, close enough to my suggestion of Ankyloraptor despite the component being a different ‘Moloch’ (Paramoloch) instead of Ankylomoloch.

2. Homalocephale was added in the 3.2 update as well, although the moves from their decision and mine have big differences, it was an Omega like how I suggested.

With that out of the way, I recalled that some of our lovely server members even requested a sequel. After a bit of hesitation, a continuation to the previous publication immediately came to mind. Although I had planned to have only one article published before Christmas, it’s the support from the community that allowed me to publish this one as a festive bonus to warm everyone up. However, unlike the previous creature suggestions article, only six of these suggestions were actually done by myself. In fact, four suggestions were previously selected by our dear server members in our Discord server after a brief vote. Without further ado, let’s move on to those creature suggestions!

List of Creature Suggestions and Their Rarities by Me

Before continuing onto this section, a shout out to dear server member Paleon for working on and creating the creature silhouettes and ability icons based on the six creature suggestions below.

Rare: MINIMI

“Reaching to a length of roughly three metres, one of the defining characteristics of this Australian ankylosaur is its relatively long tail as well as the horizontally oriented plates, which could have been used to offer enhanced protection from large predators like the megaraptor Australovenator.”

Minimi is a Resilient Shielded Tank.

Minimi

Despite Minimi being a rather small ankylosaur, its moves aren’t to be underestimated. Especially when it’s here to compete in the Rare meta. Right now, this section of the meta is pretty complex in scale with recent tournaments, as the introduction of Omegas are the main reason why it has become so infuriating, since this is also the period where their moves start to get serious: Horned Devour, Anticipation, Overwhelming Impact and Rampage Intervention all taking over together at the same time? Pretty terrifying if you are not using a most suitable team against them. But Minimi here could be your lifesaver on fighting Omegas and cunning Rare flocks.

Sure, it’s a Resilient tank so it ain’t the best thing against Yutyrannus or Albertosaurus, but placing Group Superiority Impact and Instant Invincibility Taunt altogether? Clever Girl and Masiakasaurus wouldn’t be fans of this ankylosaur. Same also applies to the smaller Preondactylus as well. Heck I tried in a similar pattern that not even Megalaina is safe from it. To start off, it still has a reliable stun resistance even if affliction hits you hard. One of Megalania’s weaknesses is being vulnerable, and so Exposing Counter just becomes a reliable tool on this ankylosaur. After you hit it again with your priority shielded strike? It could just clobber that giant monitor lizard to the curb. With decent stats and resistances, Minimi could definitely withstand several blows from Cunnings while keeping itself as a main position of being a tank of shields and deceleration properly.

Epic: OBDURODON

“Although this ancient ancestor of the modern day platypus is known only from a skull, lower jaw and teeth, all this evidence shows that Obdurodon fed on aquatic vertebrates living in the rivers of the Riversleigh area in Northern Australia during the late Oligocene to the late Miocene.”

Obdurodon is a Wildcard Multi-Skilled Brawler.

Obduron

A platypus in action is what most of the server would least expect that I would even place it in one of my suggestions in the first place. But Obdurodon plays differently, because this semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action will be the bane of cunning users.

So, Obdurodon being an Epic creature was an unexpected surprise, and by mean unexpected, I meant completely unexpected: Potentially being the first ever monotreme to even enter perhaps for the first time in a JWA creature suggestion, I would like to make it seem like a creature that doesn’t do much, do the most that it could in its kit. Right now the Epic meta hasn’t really changed much, but with the addition of Omegas jumping into the fray in certain formats, even those Epic terrors have struggles against them. Let’s begin with Swap In Safeguard, which grants you a shield, and you increase your armour to 50% as well. Therefore swapping it in on a Fukuiraptor about to deal 3X damage would make it seem like a joke. Just then, a paired up Cunning Fierce Strike and Accommodating Impact would probably make it more furious with the cleanse and the vulnerability implanted, and then a rampage on Thwart And Run while nullifying any of the remaining possible effects while running off really brings the showdown to its peak.

As this platypus has its strengths, it does struggle against armour and huge damage outputs from chompers. The first thing to not make it overpowered is to make Thwart And Run a two turn delay, so it could stall along with what is still on the battlefield. Its resistances are fine, but if not careful enough, it can fall prey to Allosaurus Gen 2 and Giganotosaurus with their heavy bulk and damage output along with the former’s Instant Rend. Panthera could revenge kill it, there would be a struggle 1v1 with Carbonemys, and you have a 50% chance of winning against Diplodocus. Obviously not the best Wildcard out there, but with the ability to potentially beat some of the more annoying cunnings within the format, it may be a better choice in Epic tournaments for sure.

Legendary:

GIGANTOPHIS

“Before Titanoboa was discovered back in the 2000s, Gigantophis took the throne as the largest snake ever found. Living in Africa when the Sahara Desert was still a coastal area, this constrictor was longer than 10% compared to its largest living relatives.”

Gigantophis is a Wildcard Precisive Contender.

Giganthopis

To me, non-hybrid Legendaries are always welcome additions to the game, but the fact is to not make it overpowered in a certain format of battle while making it actually fair for any type of creature to fight against it is hard, like how resilients are supposed to beat cunnings, but you made the cunning awfully susceptible to being beaten up. In order to fix a balancing problem within a bothersome meta wasn’t easy, even for some of our server members. So in fact, this creature suggestion on Gigantophis took me a relatively long time to complete in order to make it balanced.

The special part of this giant serpent is its agility to mock opponents with Mocking Strike: You distract and remove the opponent’s dodge with a sly attack. Playing such tricks with anti-dodge moves sure are fun in this meta, especially when you have Afflicting Slither and Precise Devouring Rampage to mix the spice even more. From the above perspective, you’ll see it’s filled with surprises with all those setups.

Its performance? Well, it’s a precise counter to Panthera Blytheae, as well as fellow dodgers Scorpios Rex and Indoraptor Gen 2 due to its affliction and anti-dodge abilities. Play right, sometimes not even Rexy or Thylaconyx are safe from it. It is capable of defeating three of the four main menaces of the Legendary leagues. Constant cleanse, shields, and heals are the tools to counter it hard. Therefore, Spinoceratops, Skoolasaurus, and Fukuimimus are crowned as the victors in this section. Hmm, it seems even Bajatonodon could stand a chance on this snake…or at least it could reduce it below 75% of its health.

Unique: ATROMADSENI (Hybrid of Ghost + Alloraptor)

“Some experts consider Atromadseni as the primal successor of the Alloraptor. Due to its unsuspecting aggressiveness built from lethal Atrociraptor DNA, it is better than the Alloraptor in action, thus making it a more superior fighter in the raptor bloodline.”

Atromadseni is a Cunning and Fierce Onslaught Expert.

Atromadseni

In a variety of movies and video games, the protagonist sometimes would have to face up against their dark counterpart, usually the antagonist, for a face off in their quests. These include Dark Link and Reverse Flash. In fact, there is sort of an example in the Jurassic franchise as well, namely the Velociraptor pack being equivalent to the Atrociraptor pack. Despite the fact that we didn’t see them getting a face off with each one other due to the timeline of the movie franchise, but this suggestion could.

As mentioned in its profile, Atromadseni is a fusion of Allosaurus Gen 2, Delta and now Ghost? Will it be the dark counterpart of the Alloraptor? One look at the stats and moves could determine it quite easily: Its moves do resemble those of the Alloraptor, at the same time, the upgrades on the pale white Atrociraptor it fuses from makes it a more vicious combatant in the attack. Surely it loses some health in exchange for huge damage output, but the moves are pretty worth the exchange. You have the more aggressive combination of rend, distraction, armour reduction, and cleanse into the mix, and so it makes Atromadseni on par with the other Atrociraptor hybrids, thus being in my head on how components should be inherited with one and another.

It’s moves, namely Cautious Cleansing Strike and Reversal Distracting Impact are major upgrades from its two cunning components, you cleanse and distract the opponent, while dodging on the former grants this stealth hybrid more survivability before unleashing its Instant Rending Onslaught or its Berserk move, considering this a threat to tanks on both the Resilient and Fierce classes in the meta. Although it could potentially dish out 4000 damage turn one, it may get knocked out in the process due to its berserk mechanic. Especially if the opponent is immune to distraction. So consider Atromadseni a glass cannon that dishes out as a high risk, high reward creature.

Omega: GOJIRASAURUS

“Gojirasaurus means ‘Godzilla Lizard’, which not only is a reference to the infamous Japanese kaiju, but also of its unusually large size when compared to other members of its genus during the Triassic period.”

Gojirasaurus is a Wildcard Group Assaulter.

Gojirasaurus

Unlocks Ability Distracting Vulnerability Counter at level 6.

Unlocks Ability Defensive Array at level 11.

Unlocks Ability Wounding Skirmish at level 16.

Unlocks Ability Swap In Alert Resurrection at level 21.

For those who watched the movie Shin Godzilla, you’ll know that Godzilla constantly mutates itself and evolves every time it faces a new threat and adapts to a new environment. The situation is like how Omegas function in the game. Therefore Gojirasaurus here would function differently throughout its 4 stages of moves until level 21.

Decisive Strike functions like Nullifying Strike, but you heal a bit of health back, to ensure that it survives another day and nullifies anything the opponent has, bringing them into a messy situation. Alert Averting Impact is what starts to get interesting: At a secure state, you increase armour by 20%. While in a threatened state, you now cleanse yourself and swap yourself out of the battlefield. This is how Gojirasaurus begins to feel like a bioweapon constantly moving towards a both defensive and offensive state. At level 11, you really start to set yourself up: Defensive Array provides an even stronger setup towards your enemies: Now, you increase both your attack and armour while doing the opposite to the opponent, bringing them despair while you continue to grow strong unopposed, especially when it has the Act Last mechanic. Finally, Wounding Skirmish and a counter truly heats things up, and now you go on a total rampage to every opponent on your sight, while leaving them constantly vulnerable and distracted with the paired counter. At its final level of upgrade, a Swap In Alert Resurrection not only heals you up after a swap in, but you also deal rend damage to whatever is on the battlefield as well, bringing the situation from zero to minus. Therefore, it may seem harmless on the first 10 levels, but the more you explore it, this is truly a Wildcard incarnate. The weaknesses though, constant stuns, speed reduction and distraction are what hurts it the most.

Apex: ERILODOSUCHUS (Hybrid of Erlidominus + Megalosuchus)

“Groups of Erilodosuchus gather near swamps to fight for the best hunting grounds during early summer. During these fights, the impressive bite force of these predators would cause immense damage, while anything that gets bitten could even be paralyzed instantly, like being shocked by a lighting bolt.”

Erilodosuchus is a Cunning and Resilient Group Ambusher.

Erilodosuchus

The tall croc rig hasn’t received any love since the game’s release back in 2018, and speaking of which, this is also the main reason why silhouette maker Paleon and I intended to make the Cunning and Resilient Erilodosuchus the tall croc rig treatment instead of the therizinosaurus rig. At first glance, Erilodosuchus functions similarly to how its Unique predecessor does, but this time, with Megalosuchus mixed into its genes, it has turned itself into sort of a team supporter while keeping its battle instincts, especially when Ferocious Cunning Impact received an assisting upgrade on applying the attack increase part onto this hybrid’s teammates in raids as well. Speaking of Megalosuchus, healing and shields are also major parts of this hybrid’s moves. You swap in and gain yourself 25% shields, as well as heal the tiniest bit of health back when you get hit, which is considerable to be honest, as wouldn’t it be too much for a cloak user to gain too much-enhanced protection when it’s paired with a healing counter?

As mentioned above, Erilodosuchus can be both a battle-ready and a raid Apex supporter at the same time. Surely it’s more defensive at first glance, but it turns out to be quite useful in PvPs as well. Especially when Revenge Regenerative Cloak does another slight heal before going invisible, and that Precise Distracting Rampage does the real job of dishing the true damage in almost an instance. Paired with its decent amount of speed, huge damage dealers like Tyrannometrodon or dodgers like Pantherator will not be safe from it. Overall, it may not be too meta-relevant in lower arenas when compared to fellow Indominus Rex lineage Apex hybrids Indonemys and Indolycan due to its lesser amount of resistances and health, but I would considerably decide it is a mix between the two in terms of raw damage and usage for sure. And that is what makes it more balanced and less annoying to its opponents.

List of Creature Suggestions and Their Rarities by the Community

Before I continue with this section, another shout out to four of our dear server members: DieCauseOmegas, Ken#4836, Jinsoo and NoahJ19 for contributing to this community article. It is with great pleasure that I share with you their amazing suggestions and ideas below:

The Real Segnotherisaurus? (Rework Suggestion By DieCauseOmegas)

Our first server member, DieCauseOmegas, has provided us with an old, but at the same time, a new creature: Not Segnotodus or Arctotherisaurus, cause this time, Freddy Fazbear isn’t part of this rework suggestion, rather interestingly, Therizinosaurus would be the better replacement towards this suggestion, hence its name:

Segnotherisaurus

IRRICHICYON (Hybrid of Rinchicyon + Irritator Gen 2) (Creature Suggestion by Ken#4836)

GamePress’ loyal raid strategy maker Ken#4836 provided a suggestion on a continental super-hybrid in the name of Irrichicyon. Yep, with the power of imagination, I’m sure continental super-hybrids could be a thing in our minds. So JamCity, stop bringing us irrelevant Omegas and take notes with that along with your overdue promise of more Commons and Rare hybrids please?

Irrichicyon

DIABLOCERATOPS GEN 2 (Creature Suggestion by Jinsoo)

In the meantime, our server’s talented artist and Allosaurus Gen 2 enjoyer Jinsoo provided us the first Gen 2 creature in ages with Diabloceratops Gen 2 coming to the fray! Who would have thought the idea of having a second variant of an Omega creature that could fit the Epic meta would be neat? It keeps the roots of its Gen 1 counterpart, but to be more suitable in the meta it usually resides.

Diabloceratops Gen 2

DEINOSUCHUS (Creature Suggestion by NoahJ19)

As mentioned above, suggestions on non-hybrid Legendaries are always welcome for me, and so here comes a non-hybrid Legendary suggested by server member NoahJ19 that could perhaps be on par with my suggestion on Gigantophis, as it’s apparently another prehistoric reptile in the name of Deinosuchus!

Deinosuchus

Parting Words

With 2023 coming to a close, I’m really glad to see the community more supportive than ever. Although there will be a hiatus with new originally made community articles in the next few months as I’ll have to check on more ideas before doing so for more surprises, I’d still welcome any suggestions, whether it’s about certain creatures and mechanics you would like to see in the future, or discussions on the meta as well. If you want to keep on having support for these community articles, the links for the community article suggestions Google form is still welcome in the links below.

Agent Allosaurus’ Google Form

So who knows? Maybe one day your suggestion would be featured in a future community article! And with this being the last community article in 2023, I have to say, that’s all folks. May we meet again in another one soon. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy playing during the holiday season!

A Special Carol To Sum Up

Since it’s about Christmas by the time this community article is published, and as how I appreciate everyone’s support of the community articles, I would like to give everyone an early Christmas treat through a special Christmas carol that would sum up this community:

(To the tone of Jingle Bells)

Dashing through the snow, Dracovenator’s here,

It took out all my flocks, cause distraction immunity,

I let out a small sigh, pulled the trigger on,

Swapped into a Thylos then got the job done quick oh man,

Oh! Nitro sucks, Dilos smell, why power-creep’s a thing?

Everywhere I see are just Gems, Kyries and Dsungas,

Oh! Nitro sucks, Dilos smell, JC can you stop?

Cause you know no one likes Omegas and they should be ashamed.

Now this year is done, let’s see what JC’s done,

More Omegas and whales, now the fun is ruined,

But with GamePress being here, with everyone in town,

Has made the field grown better with community’s involved,

Oh! Nitro sucks, Dilos smells, why power-creep’s a thing?

Everywhere I see are just Gems, Kyries and Dsungas,

Oh! Nitro sucks, Dilos smell, JC can you stop?

Cause you know no one likes Omegas and they should be ashamed.
