JWA Weekly Event May 10-May 16: Fast

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

Explorers! This coming week is Fast themed, and we had a similar event in January. Let's go over what we said then, if anything has changed, what our Discord community is thinking and what we'll recommend to dart as well as everything else you need to know.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between, Rares last 3 hours with about 15 minutes in between, and Epics last 6 hours with upward of 30 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Monday - Tuesday: 36 Attempts

  • Deinocheirus (Global Anytime) (Diloracheirus)
  • Deinonychus (Global Anytime) (Poukaidei>Poukandactylus)
  • Tanycolagreus (Global Anytime) (Quetzorion)
  • Velociraptor (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus/Indoraptor, Indoraptor)

This is a week where none of the commons truly stand out to us. All four are available everywhere, all the time, so you should have little problem acquiring by hunting and/or scenting. If we were to extend even the smallest of preference, it would be Deinonychus ("Nike"), as it has been available for the least amount of time. We would recommend darting whatever crosses your path, as 36 is a lot of attempts and doesn't feel worth the time to try and target anything in particular. Our Discord community agrees as an overwhelming majority of those who participated in our weekly poll plan to do just that.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Wednesday - Friday: 18 Attempts

  • Arctops (Event Exclusive) (Acrocanthops)
  • Gorgonops (Global Short Range) (Dakotanops)
  • Haast Eagle Gen 2 (Wednesday) (Aquilamimus)

Using our rule of exclusivity, our top recommendation for the week would be Arctops followed by Eagle2 then Gorgo. It's really difficult to find reason to target anything other than Arctops. It's the most exclusive and has what seems to be the best hybrid of the bunch. All 3 hybrids do have potential for future supers, so perhaps there is a reason to maybe allocate your attempts. And just because we can't find much reason doesn't mean others can't. Here's what some of our friends in our Discord had to say:

"I'll dart a few Gorgonops in case Dakotanops gets a good superhybrid. I'm still putting the bulk of my attempts on Arctops though" -DimLug
"Gorgonops I'm doing because I don't see it often and because I need to get Dakotanops" -SonicNTGD

Featured Creatures: Epics

Saturday - Sunday: 9 Attempts

  • Blue (Event Exclusive) (Indoraptor Gen 2
  • Haast Eagle (Event Exclusive) (Poukaidei>Poukandactylus)
  • Troodon (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk)

This will make for a tough decision as 2 out of 3 options are Event Exclusive. It probably goes unsaid, but we will not be giving Troodon our top recommendation of this group. It doesn't currently have a hybrid nor will it be receiving one in the update this week.

The same can not be said for the other two. I'll repeat my spiel on Eagle from January:  We also know Haast Eagle is responsible for the Poukaidei which is responsible for the  Poukandactylus who ot long ago got a little positive modification. We could also be in for future modifications. Creatures like Monolorhino have gone from dud to super stud, and who's to say Poukan can't receive the same treatment one day?

But what about Blue? Not long ago, we'd have been screaming at you to choose Blue the same we did last week about choosing RhinoIndo2 once ruled the realm, but that has not been the case for several updates. We would still give Blue a slight edge due to her potential as an individual in tournament. Like the rares, we don't feel you can go totally wrong with either Event Exclusive choice.

Interestingly enough, as of writing, our voting poll has more people saying they will choose whatever crosses their path than Blue or Troodon. Over 50% of those who voted selected Haast as their main choice. Here are a couple of reasons given in support of Troodon:

"Troodon I'm doing because I don't need to level blue's or haast's hybrids" - SonicNTGD
"Personal goals" - TroodonYT

"I've already got poukandactylus, and outside of a few apex raids it's not that good so I don't think I have much of a reason to dart haast. Troodon on the other hand has hybrid potential" -DimLug

On Sunday, we will have the treasure chase where the chests refresh hourly for you to collect up to 25,000 coins! The boxes reset at 8pm Eastern, so you actually have a chance for up to 50,000 cons if you are able to max both time frames.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week continues Antarctovenator pursuit, so keep your eyes out for the Epic Concavenator!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Monday, 12 PM EST - Sunday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTubers PokeFodder, Gaming Beaver, and Gaming Ells. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, PokeFodder, Gaming Ells, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

Fast week certainly leaves us anything but furious with some more opportunity at exclusive DNA. It's also refreshing to see them reworking themes rather than never adding newer creatures to the choices. Coupled with an update on Tuesday with a boost shuffle event to follow, we look forward to a wonderful week ahead. New for 2021, we are going to reach out for more community input on these weekly event roundups. Join our Discord Server and let us know what you're darting and why! We look forward to your input and hope to see you on there!
