JWA Weekly Events Apr 6- Apr 12: Blossom Festival

Introduction

Explorers! The early information we shared comes to reality as we celebrate our favorite herbivores during Blossom Festival! Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 36 Attempts

  • Ankylosaurus Gen 2 (Tuesday) (Ankylocodon>Ankylodicurus>Ankylodactylus, Alankylosaurus)
  • Glyptodon (Local 1 Anytime) (Andrewtodon>Andrewtops, Glyptoceras)
  • Parasaurolophus (Local 4 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Paramoloch>Tuoramoloch,Tragoditis)
  • Triceratops Gen 2 (Global Anytime) (Dracoceratops>Dracoceratosaurus)

You may recall we were asked to vote on this event a few weeks ago. When Ludia does those polls, we typically will do the same in our Discord to get a feel for how the community votes. Of course we recognize this doesn't perfectly represent the entire player base, but it's always interesting to see how those results compare with what the creatures end up being. The top 4 Commons in our poll were Scolosaurus, Glyptodon, Brontotherium, and Parasaurolophus. We see two of these made the ultimate cut and wish the other two had also. Here we are with what we have, and like usual with Commons, none really stands out. We're going to try something new and break the choices down in four ways:

Arena

If you are wanting to prioritize working on your arena team, we think Glypto is your top choice with the recently improved hybrid, Andrewtops. None of the other hybrids qualify as "end game", but we can also see a case for Ankylodactylus being useable in arena. This would make Ankyl2 the second best choice if Arena is your priority.

Tournament

If you are putting your focus on tournament, there are multiple directions this can go. When considering Commons among their own rarity, Glypto is your top dog followed by Tri2. You won't find the others useful in a Commons only setting. When considering hybrids and those qualifying tournaments, this catapults Ankyl2 to the top. Ankylodicurus is a top Epic hybrid, and Ankylodactylus may be among the best Legendaries out there. The hybrids coming from all the other options don't find themselves as useful in tournaments with the exception of maybe DracoC.

Raid

Para is your best choice if you are wanting to focus on raid creatures. Paramoloch is used in many Legendary strategies, and of course Tuoramoloch might be the most used creature in Unique & Apex strategies.

Overall

As previously mentioned, nothing really stands out here. Overall, we'd rank these solely on accessibility: Ankyl2, Para, Glypto, Tri2. As we suggest most every week with commons, 36 is a lot of attempts over two days. It is likely in your best interest of time to just dart whatever you stumble across.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Bumpy (Event Exclusive) (Ankylomoloch>Ankylos Lux)
  • Sonorasaurus (Event Exclusive) (Skoonasaurus)
  • Stygimoloch (Local 4 Anytime) (Paramoloch>Tuoramoloch, Ankylomoloch>Ankylos Lux)

This is as fine a pool of Epics as we've seen, and each helps create something very special. These fall more in line with how our Discord community voted in Ludia's poll as well (Bumpy & Stygi were the top two, though Diplod just had a couple more than Sonora).

Arena

Our order for those arena fiends would be Bumpy, Sonora, Stygi. We like Ankylos Lux as the better hybrid here, and then it really comes down to exclusivity. We also just came off a month of Stygi rewards, so hopefully you were able to create a little savings there.

Tournament

None of these three actually has a large presence on its own, so we look to the hybrids to differentiate here. Ankylomoloch is a very strong Legendary, and of course Skoona is a top tier Unique. We'd order them the same as in the Arena section.

Raid

Here is where things change, and you would surely want Stygi if your goals are to create better raid creatures. Tuora is probably the Unique used in the most raid strategies, and you are helping yourself and your raid partners by building one of your own.

Overall

As these are all great choices, we don't feel you can go wrong with whichever you choose. It's times like this you might even spread your attempts over two or all three options. Whatever you do, don't miss out!

Featured Creatures: Uniques

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Monolorhino (Event Exclusive)
  • Skoonasaurus (Event Exclusive)

Arena

Right now, Skoona is your better choice if you are working on your Arena team. Many players have abandoned MRhino, but Skoona remains on most teams.

Tournament

These are about even when it comes to Tournament viability.

Raid

Both of these are found in a variety of raid strategies and server very different purposes. MRhino may be a touch more useful with Skoona potentially being too powerful when combined with the standard Mortem attack buff.

Overall

Both of these are solid and comprised of an Event Exclusive ingredient. No matter which you choose, be sure to choose one, even if you have both at level 30. There are no more rules about Super Hybrids getting hybrids, so any extra DNA should be welcome.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Cervalces (Event Exclusive) (Arctalces>Arctovasilas)
  • Fukuisaurus (Local 3 Anytime) (Fukuimimus)
  • Nasutoceratops (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Carbotoceratops>Testacornibus>, Arctovasilas)
  • Tuojiangosaurus (Global Anytime) (Diorajasaur>Ankylos Lux, Tuoramoloch)

Blossom Festival comes to an end with some tough Rare choices. These also fall very closely in line with what our Discord community hoped for: Cervalces, Nasuto, Fukui, and Tenonto beat Tuoj by a small margin. While we don't love the idea of a global, anytime spawn "winning" a spot, it does help make the choice a little easier.

Arena

Cervalces is your top here if you are wanting to improve your arena team. It is Event Exclusive and helps with the might Bear King. Nasuto is a fine alternative with the still solid Testacornibus and of course also Arctovasilas. Fuikui is the newest of the group, and if you've faced a Fukuimimus you know that one is very strong. Unfortunately, you may not have the access to Strutho which means leveling this beast will be a long time coming.

Tournament

Nasuto is the most often used on its own of these Rare choices, though Tuoj can be solid with the counter to go along with its kit. With regards to hybrids, these are kind of all over the place with none super standing out.

Raid

If you are working on your raid squad, you are going to want to go with Tuoj here. However, please don't. This is a global, anytime, spawn, and there's a good chance this DNA request is fairly easily filled by your alliance. We understand the others don't build raid worthy creatures, but the DNA is much more valuable. You are better off sitting on a giga scent than spending your attempts on Tuoj.

Overall

We order these based on exclusivity: Cervalces, Nasuto, Fuikui, Tuoj (but seriously just say no to Tuoj). We do only have two days to knock out 24 attempts, and spreading yours over a couple or three options is a splendid idea.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12pm Eastern - Tuesday, 12pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
