JWA Weekly Events Feb 16 - Feb 22: Counter Attack

Introduction

Explorers! After a few weeks of some special events, we are back to a basics with a week featuring Counter Attackers. Let's get to it and talk about our recommendations of what to dart before we break down the rest this week has to offer!

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = 1 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last 1 hour with about 5 minutes between. Epics last 2 hours with about 5 minutes in between.

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 Attempts

  • Eremotherium (Local 3 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Eremocerus)
  • Majungasaurus (Local 2 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Majundasuchus>Majundaboa>Troodoboa)
  • Miragaia (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Megalogaia, Dsungaia)

Of these options, we like Eremo the best. It's been around the least amount of time and has a nice hybrid in Eremocerus. We do like Majunga as an option with Troodoboa being one of the better new Uniques, but it's more likely Troodon is going to be your roadblock with that. Miragaia is alright mainly on its own in qualifying tournaments. Like most Common events, you may be best suited splitting your attempts over a couple or all of these choices.

Featured Creatures: Epics Day 1

Friday - Saturday: 9 Attempts

  • Majundaboa (Event Exclusive) (Troodoboa)
  • Megalotops (Event Exclusive)
  • Purutaurus (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Carnotarkus, Scorpius Rex)

Of these three, we like "Junk Boa" as the top choice. As mentioned earlier, Trodoboa is one of the better new Uniques, and it can be nice to save the cost of coins and DNA for fusing by just darting a hybrid (especially when one component which can only be found at Dawn and Dusk). Junk Boa is also really strong in qualifying tournaments and will be eligible to participate in the final two weeks of these February Alliance Championships. We like MTops as the next choice, though we do have the opportunity to raid it once a week. We can not find any reason to choose Purut over these two. While we love this hybrid for qualifying tournaments, that isn't enough to push you in that direction.

Featured Creatures: Epics Day 2

Sunday: 9 Attempts

  • Kentrosaurus (Park Anytime) (Ankytrosaurus>Trykosaurus)
  • Rajasaurus (Local 2 Anytime) (Rajakylosaurus>Diorajasaur>Ankylos Lux)
  • Sonorasaurus (Event Exclusive) (Skoonasaurus)

A few weeks ago, we'd shout SONORAAAAAAA and drop the mic, but the introduction of Ankylos Lux makes this choice a little more challenging. Of course Sonora is your event exclusive, and Skoona remains a top arena creature. However, we now have this fusible Apex in ALux that's going to require a lot of Raja to fuse the required component of Dio. Not to mention, Dio itself is quite viable in arena and used in many raid strategies. Fortunately, level 25 is sufficient for the latter and the level you'll need to start on ALuxSonora is our daily reward this month, so you should be racking that DNA up as you complete your daily missions. We do only have one day to complete 9 attempts, so you might even split yours over Raja and Sonora. Not everyone has easy access to parks to hunt Kentro, but we still like the other two options over this one.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 18 Attempts

  • Megalonyx (Local 1 Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Megalotops)
  • Megalosaurus (Local 1 Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Megalosuchus)
  • Tuojiangosaurus (Global Anytime) (Diorajasaur>Ankylos Lux, Tuoramoloch)

Counter Attack week concludes with some interesting Rare choices. Normally, we'd strongly suggest Onyx over the others, but we can surely see a case for Tijuana since the introduction of ALux. In fact, this is what the large majority of those who voted in our Discord poll are planning to dart. This one may spawn anywhere, all the time, but you are going to need a ginormous amount if you want to work on all its useful hybrids. Of the three options, we least value Megalosaurus, so you may even split your tries over the other two.

Strike Events, Trials, Scents, Treasure Chase, and Hybrid Pursuit!

Strike Events & Trials

Strike Events & Trials will also be Counter Attack themed and will reward the same Common, Rare, and Epic DNA found under event drops.

We have two dinosaur specific strikes this week, a Carnotaurus strike on Wednesday and a Spinotahraptor tower on Friday! We've also got the regularly scheduled Boost Strikes on Wednesday (Attack), Saturday (HP), and Mondday (Speed) as well as an Emote strike Thursday and a Title strike on Saturday.

Scents

We have the return of the basic scent strike on Tuesday, and prior to that will be Ankylosauridae scent on Thursday. This scent can draw the following creatures when activated:

  • Ankylosaurus Gen 2 (Common)
  • Euophacephalus (Common)
  • Scolosaurus (Common)
  • Nodosaurus (Rare)
  • Ankylosaurus (Epic)

Treasure Chase

We are back to the normal Sunday treasure chase where we can open them hourly to earn up to 25,000 coins. These do reset at 7pm Eastern and offer a second opportunity toward 25,000 coins before drops reset at 10am Eastern Monday.

Hybrid Pursuit

This week concludes the Coelhaast pursuit with the Event Exclusive, Haast Eagle!

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12 PM EST - Tuesday, 12 PM EST every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

After a few whirlwind weeks of special themes, it feels refreshing to get back to basics with our favorite Counter Attackers, and though Carno does not make an appearance at event drops, we do have a dedicated strike tower for this juicy DNA. And don't forget, this will be the last to raid Indoraptor, as Albertospinos replaces it on February 23rd. Come join our Discord and let us know what you plan to dart! We look forward to your input and hope to see you on there!
