JWA Weekly Events Jan 4 to Jan 10: Wild Carnivores

Submit Feedback or Error

Introduction

HAPPY NEW YEAR DINO FANS!!! We hope everyone has had a great start to their year and this year will be a great one for all.

Now pay attention! Jurassic World Alive Rangers have reported increasing sightings of Carnivores, both solitary and in packs. Be on the lookout! If you see or find any, dart them if you dare! But be warned!! They are Carnivores who will stop at nothing to get their teeth and claws into you.

DANGER! It’s Wild Carnivore Week!!

So, without further ado, Lucus1355 is back to talk about our recommendations of which creature to dart and detain, before we break down the rest that this Wild Carnivore Week is bringing.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = Varies but tends to usually be 2 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last about 35 minutes with about 5 minutes between. Epics last about 30 minutes with about 5 minutes in between. Legendaries & Uniques last about 27 minutes with about 3 minutes in between. Many thanks to Lilikoi of Dom Tuoretto for helping us nail down those cycle times!

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 27 attempts

  • Allosaurus (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Allosinosurus>Thoradolosaur)
  • Tarbosaurus (Global Anytime) (Thoradolosaur, Tarbognathus>Compsoraptor)
  • Velociraptor (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus/Indoraptor/Indonemys, Indoraptor)

These commons for us are the originals, the real McCoys; the Carnivorous commons that set the JWA mould.

Velociraptor – a dinosaur that this Wild Carnivores week couldn’t be without. A JWA veteran as one of the original twenty-two Common creatures and also the very first dinosaur to be featured in the Jurassic Park Films. Iconic! The scariest dinosaur for us during the first movie and possibly the second until the third film came around. It’s a top choice in a Commons Tournament due to its high speed and “High Pounce”. Its hybrids, Indoraptor and Indominus Rex, are iconic for the newer generation of dinosaur lovers since featured in the Jurassic World movies. Lest we forget Indominus Rex’s Unique hybrids and Apex hybrid.

Allosaurus and Tarbosaurus – They are also from the originals; the large Common Theropods that ruled the land as the JWA world began over four millennia (years) ago. They are also the Carnivores of Commons Tournaments; having one of these on your team is also a top choice and both needed for the making of the Unique raider Thoradolosaurus. However, Tarbosaurus is also needed in fusing the flocks: Tarbognathus and Compsoraptor who are both a top choice for their respective Rarity Tournaments.

With this in mind, it’s either Tarbosaurus or Velociraptor depending on your hybrid fusing aims.

Featured Creatures: Epics

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Moros Intrepidus (Event Exclusive) (Thylos Intrepidus)
  • Pulmonoscorpios (Event Exclusive) (Dsungascorpios)
  • Titanoboa (Event Exclusive) (Dilophoboa>Spinoconstrictor)
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex (Global Anytime) (Indominus Rex>Erlidominus/Indonemys/Indoraptor, Trykosaurus)

This would not be a Wild Carnivores week without the King making an appearance. Tyrannosaurus Rex is probably best known for being in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies. In the JWA game though, it’d be known by newer players for being an ingredient to create the Indominus Rex. For others, the interest could be more directed at the 3 Uniques and Apex, Indonemys that can be created with Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA being a part of the fusion process or chain.

Downsizing now, one-one-hundredth (1/100th) the size of the Tyrannosaurus Rex to be precise, but roughly thirty times the weight of a house brick. Moros Intrepidus came to Palaeontologist’s eyes in 2013 and our screens with version 2.18 of JWA. This flock has a decent swap in strike for Epic Tournaments but hasn’t the ability to heal like other flocks.

Titanoboa is still a great choice for Epic Non-hybrid Tournaments. It has the ability to reduce the opponents speed, remove dodge or just go through it with precision, and to rampage onto an escaping target. Furthermore, its hybrids, Dilophoboa and especially the Spinoconstrictor are no pushovers either. They making most creatures escaping and attacking them regret the decision. What slippery customers. Will any of these serpents have anything to do with the datamined Constrictoraptor? That is if this creature were to see the light of JWA day.

It’s no wonder Pulmonoscorpius is in this Wild Carnivores Week being one of the strongest Epics currently in the game and as such, ruling the Epic Tournament scene. This flock’s main strength is causing a constant supply of Damage Over Time with its abilities and also its “Poison Counter”. It’s also able to nullify and stun the opponent, along with making it very difficult to escape from this ancient scorpion.

Pulmonoscorpius seems the likely choice to be the creature to dart out of the four.

Featured Creatures: Uniques

Sunday: 1 Attempt

  • Albertospinos (Event Exclusive)
  • Phorurex (Event Exclusive)
  • Thylos Intrepidus (Event Exclusive)

With a lacking of Legendaries this week, concentration can be purely on the Uniques. Even though we’re only getting one attempt, at least the Unique you want should be easier to track down.

With the basic appearing in this week, it makes some sense for us to also have a chance to dart the Unique Thylos Intrepidus. It may not be much bigger than its descendant, Moros Intrepidus but it does pack more of a punch. With Rend and Damage Over Time being passed down from its other ingredient, Thylacotator and the effects of its “Crushing Prowl” ability, it makes this “Tasmanian tiger of Jurassic World” more of a problem to deal with. However, it is still unable to “Rally Heal” and even though it has a devour ability which seems to have little effect.

The other two Uniques featured this week have been rebalanced on separate occasions in the past.

Phorurex, a common sight before a nerf took it down a peg but it is still in teams today. This bird is deadly with its priority “Cautious Cunning Rampage” ability with high damage. Here, a weaken creature is finished, or a weakened creature is created. It can then prioritise cleansing itself and setting up dodge, speed boost and 100% crit chance for “Lethal Rampage And Run”. To finish it off, swapping isn’t an easy option when facing a Phorurex – “Unable To Swap”, 100% stun and then taking damage. Less so in Tournaments than PvP bouts, this creature is not to be messed with!

Whilst its cousin was getting a nerf, Albertospinos was receiving a buff. This large Spinosaurid causes Damage Over Time with multiple abilities and its “Shattering Swap In Wound”. If you’re still alive then it’ll crush with its priority “Killer Instinct” or its bigger hit, “Fierce Rampage”. Resilient creatures beware. With this creatures buffs, its made its way back up the food chain to where this “river dragon” should belong.

Phorurex, Albertospinos and Thylos Intrepidus. Speed, power and a flock. What would you like?

Featured Creatures: Rares

Monday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Albertosaurus (Event Exclusive) (Albertospinos, Albertocevia)
  • Carnotaurus (Friday) (Purutaurus>Carnotarkus, Scorpios Rex Gen 2>Scorpios Rex Gen 3, Indotaurus)
  • Dire Wolf (Event Exclusive) (Aenocyonyx>Indolycan)
  • Pyroraptor Gen 2 (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Pyrosuchus)

DireWolf is seeing its third week on the front lines, and it’s no real surprise. It’s a lot of DNA to get a Unique from a Rare, not to mention the Apex afterwards. It’s the first Rare to get a few things: the first to get a devour ability, the first to boost the teams speed and team damage without giving opponents any buffs; also, the first to be able to reduce the armour of its opponent. A creature for the Rare and even some Epic raids if ever we saw one. It’s hybrid, Aenocyonyx makes it worth darting the DireWolf too due to its PvP and Tournament standings.

We’ll have the Unique Albertospinos on the Sunday into Monday, so perhaps Albertosaurus will be on your darting radar. Not many Rare creatures can boast two Unique hybrids, but Albertosaurus definitely can and it’s no slouch in rare Tournaments either. This is thanks to the Priority “Killer Instinct” dealing that final blow before the opponent can get a move in first. This also makes it another creature looking to take down those Rare and even some Epic raids. Albertosaurus’ hybrids are no slouches either, with Albertocevia having the better move set over Albertospinos and so being used more for tournament and in PvP bouts.

Pyroraptor Gen 2 is also again in the featured creatures to dart this week and no wonder. This Rare Raptor caused quite the stir with its arrival into the game with its hybrid Pyrosuchus. Then even more of a stir with its next hybrid, Pyrorixis. Both Pyrosuchus, but more so Pyrorixis do well in their respective Tournaments so they are worth creating. What’s even more is that with skins “Jet” and “Firebreak” now announced for both Pyrosuchus and Pyrorixis respectively, will this be causing you to aim your darts towards Pyroraptor Gen 2 even more so than you were thinking to already.

Finally, an old favorite, Carnotaurus. This creature has some magnificent hybrids including the Scorpius Rex lineage, which are good options of various degrees in their respective class Tournament (Epic, Legendary and Unique) and also in PvP. Another hybrid tree sees Purutaurus and Carnotarkus and again, are good options of varying degree in their respective hybrid class-Tournament (Epic and Legendary). Finally, we have the Indotaurus and with its “Revenge Taunting Cloak” it can be a pain to get rid of before it gets rid of you. A top choice for Unique Tournaments that would lack flock opponents and also for PvP.

Many reasons to dart any of the rare creatures available to us here:

  • DireWolf for low-level raids and its hybrids for PvP and Tournament potential.
  • Albertosaurus for Rare Tournaments and its hybrids for PvP and Tournament potential.
  • Pyroraptor Gen 2 for its hybrids, their skins and their PvP and Tournament potential.
  • Carnotaurus for its many hybrids and their PvP and Tournament potential.

1/4/23: As of publishing, we do not yet have the cash link for the week. It will be updated once made available to us by Ludia.

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.
