Introduction

Hello explorers! Luke AKA Lucus1355 and Kelly AKA Kelociraptor here from GamePress and welcome to “Weekly Events”.

This month, from the 24th of March to the 3rd of April, there will be 3 back-to-back tournaments. So, for the next 2 weeks in order to gear up for this and prepare our best battlers, JWA will be full of events and offers showcasing JWA’s best tournament creatures (in the eyes of Ludia).

The reason for having this special 6th bonus tournament this month is in honour of the competitive theme lasting for not 1 week, but 2;

Tournament Clash!!

Time to aim for the top! So, let’s talk about Luke’s recommendations of which creature to dart before Kelly breaks down the rest that this week has to offer.

NOTE - All stats stated in this article are with creatures set to Level 26 with no stat boosts.

Weekly Calendar Explained

Before we dive in to the week, we'll break down how the weekly event calendar works. First, each day is considered started at 10am Eastern on that day. It is possible that wherever you live, it might actually be the previous or next day, so we wanted to help clarify how they determine what day it is. At this time, event creatures & strike towers will be updated as applicable. This information is also noted on the calendar.

Ever wonder why some weeks we’re given 45 attempts on commons and others only 18 or 27? The reason for this is that the volume of attempts is a simple math calculation based on the rarity and number of options. Take the rarity base number and multiply by the number of options and voila, you have your total allowed attempts! Having more variety in the options yields that many more attempts. The flip side is it may be more difficult to find the creature(s) you favor. Below details the number of attempts assigned to each rarity which is used to determine how many attempts you receive (though occasionally, they stray from this math). This is the total you are allotted across all options, so it is important to select your choices wisely.

  • Common = 9 per
  • Rare = 6 per
  • Epic = 3 per
  • Legendary/Unique = Varies but tends to usually be 2 total

They recently started putting the number of attempts on the calendar again and sometimes stray from the above. Refer to the calendar for the confirmed counts. Each rarity has a different length of time the spawn lasts followed by a different length of time until respawn after despawn. Commons and Rares will last about 35 minutes with about 5 minutes between. Epics last about 30 minutes with about 5 minutes in between. Legendaries & Uniques last about 27 minutes with about 3 minutes in between. Many thanks to Lilikoi of Dom Tuoretto for helping us nail down those cycle times!

All strikes and trials are represented on the calendar with the level of difficulty along with how long they last (1 day or 2 days). The trials are shown along the very bottom in gray boxes.

Featured Creatures: Commons

Wednesday - Thursday: 45 attempts

  • Allosaurus (Global Dawn/Dusk/Night) (Allosinosurus>Thoradolosaur)
  • Brontotherium (Battle Exclusive) (Brontolasmus)
  • Glyptodon (Local 1 Anytime) (Andrewtodon>Andrewtops, Glyptoceras)
  • Ophiacodon (Wednesday) (Ankylocodon>Ankylodicurus>Ankylodactylus)
  • Tanycolagerus (Global Anytime) (Quetzorion)

Allosaurus has high health (4650), very high damage (1750) and 50% immunity to being vulnerable, with both its abilities ‘Fierce Strike’ (1750) and ‘Fierce Impact’ (2625) breaking shields and bypassing armour. It also has a 20% crit chance and a 104 speed. It’s a good choice for Common tournaments but there are better choices in filling those 8 team spots.

Brontotherium is one of those deserving of a team spot; Immune to speed decreases, 20% armour, high health (4200) and decent damage (1200). On swap in, Brontotherium gains shields and using its ‘Shielded Taunting Strike’ (1200) can continue to put up shields. Its ‘Resilient Impact’ removes dodge, cloak and speed increases, causing 1800 damage and imposes vulnerability.

Glyptodon is another creature deserving of a team spot due to its 40% armour. It has a decent amount of health (3900) and immunity to speed decreases and vulnerability. Using ‘Superior Vulnerability’ (1000) slows the opponent and imposes vulnerability. Its ability ‘Resilient Rampage’ (2000) removes dodge, cloak and speed increases, imposing vulnerability; 3000 damage if used on the next turn with the opponent is vulnerable and slowed down.

Ophiacodon has 4 immunities: speed decrease, damage over time, vulnerability and stun; with high health (4350), high damage (1400) and a speed quick for similar fierce creatures (108), not to mention its 40% crit chance. Both of its abilities bypass armour however, only ‘Defence Shattering Strike’ breaks shields with 1400 damage. On top of that, its ‘Armor Piercing Rampage’ has a 1 turn delay but it does 2800, making this creature a good choice for Common tournaments. Again, there are better choices in filling those 8 team spots

Tanycolagreus could be one of those to fill a spot but is not a team necessity. With 130 speed, high health for a small wildcard creature (2850), and high damage (1560), also with an immunity to speed decreases. Its ‘Definite Strike’ (1560) removes cloak and dodge, along with breaking shields and bypassing armour. Whereas its ‘Nullifying Impact’ (2340) removes all opponents positive effects but has a 2-turn cooldown. It’s a good choice for Common tournaments but you may find that there are better choices in filling your 8 team spots.

Friday - Saturday: 12 Attempts

  • Antarctopelta (Local 4 Anytime) (Antarctovenator)
  • Erlikogamma (Event Exclusive)
  • Panthera (Global Short Range Anytime)
  • Red (Event Exclusive) (Atrocodistis)

Acrocanthosaurus had a buff recently but could it now be enough to achieve a team spot. It’s quicker than Ophiacodon at 110 speed and is the joint fastest, Large Theropod in the game. It has high health (4800) and very high damage (1700), with a 30% crit chance. ‘Group Cleansing Strike’ (1700) is able to cleanse teammates of all negative effects. With ‘Group Defence Shattering Impact’ (2550) all opponents are hit, while breaking shields and bypassing armour. ‘Fierce Rampage’ (3400) also breaks shields and bypasses armour. Even with its recent buff making this creature a good choice for Epic tournaments, there are better choices in filling those 8 team spots

Antarctopelta is immune to vulnerability and 50% resistant to speed decreases. It also has 30% armour and its ‘Decelerating Counter’ (1000) reduces opponents speed. It’s able to increase its damage by 50% using ‘Revenge Instant Ferocity’ and with ‘Superior Vulnerability’ (1000) slows the opponent and imposes vulnerability. Using these 2 abilities effectively can cause ‘Taunting Resilient Group Impact’ (1500) far more damaging as it targets all opponents and Antarctopelta gains shields, cleansing reduced damage; removing dodge, cloak and speed increases while also imposing vulnerability. It’s a good choice for Epic tournaments but you may find that there are better choices in filling your 8 team spots.

Erlikogamma is immune to crit reduction, reduced damage and swap prevention, with 50% resistance to damage over time and it’s fast at 130 speed and has high attack (1450). Able to swap out automatically using ‘Strike And Run’ (1450) and increase its speed with ‘Minimal Speedup Strike’ (1450). Its precise ability, ‘Precise Pounce’ (2900) reduces its opponents damage by 50%. On the other hand, ‘Debilitating Distraction’ (1450) reduces the opponents damage by 75%. Again, it’s a good choice for Epic tournaments but you may find that there are better choices in filling your 8 team spots.

The Atrociraptor, Panthera is a creature deserving of a spot in your team, mostly due to its revenge abilities. Pretty high damage (1300) and decent speed (126), accompany immunity to speed decrease and swap prevention with a 50% resistance to damage reduction. It’s priority ability ‘Retreat’ cleanses all negative abilities and automatically out swaps Panthera. Its other abilities, ‘Berserk Clawed Revenge’ (3250) and ‘Berserk Biting Revenge’ (3250) sacrifice 33% of the user’s health on using them and makes Panthera unable to swap. Furthermore, both abilities bypass armour and are precise attacks. However, the differences are that ‘Berserk Clawed Revenge’ targets all opponents, whereas ‘Berserk Biting Revenge’ breaks shields. Although On Revenge, these 2 abilities become priority attacks, no longer sacrifice 33% health and doesn’t cause unable to swap. ‘Berserk Clawed Revenge’ also no longer bypasses armour.

Red is another of the Atrociraptors. With pretty high damage (1250), mid health (3450) and 15% armour, accompanied with immunity to stun and resistances to damage over time (25%), reduced damage (33%), speed decrease (25%) and vulnerability (25%). Its priority ‘Accelerating Shielded Distraction’ gives Red shields and a speed boost, while reducing the opponents damage. ‘Resilient Strike’ (1250) cleanses reduced damage, imposes vulnerability, and removes cloak, dodge and speed increases from the opponent. Lastly, its precise ‘Berserk Resilient Rampage’ (2500) sacrifice 33% of the user’s health and makes Red unable to swap. Furthermore, it also cleanses reduced damage, imposes vulnerability, bypasses armour and removes cloak, dodge and speed increases from the opponent. Red is also a good choice for Epic tournaments but you may find that there are better choices in filling your 8 team spots.

Featured Creatures: Rares

Sunday - Tuesday: 24 Attempts

  • Majungasuchus (Local 1 Anytime) (Majundaboa>Troodoboa)
  • Rodrigues Solitaire (Event Exclusive) (Allodrigues)
  • Tuojiangosaurus (Global Anytime) (Diorajasaur>Ankylos Lux, Tuoramoloch)
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex Gen 2 (Global Day/Dawn/Dusk) (Indominus Rex Gen 2>Indoraptor Gen 2>Indolycan/Indotaurus, Tyrannolophosaur>Tenontorex)

Majundasuchus got a buff recently and seemed to perform very well in the most recent Rare tournament and so is a creature deserving of a spot in your next Rare tournament team. It’s quick (108) compared to its other Medium Theropod’s, has mid damage, mid health and has immunity to speed reductions. On swap in, its ‘Swap In Ferocity’ increases its damage and it can be increased further using its ‘Ferocious Strike’ (1100). This can be very troubling thanks to its ‘Disarming Counter Strike’ (1100) which bypasses armour and reduces armour also. It can cleanse all negative effects with ‘Cleansing Impact’ (1650) and cleanses reduced damage, imposes vulnerability, and removes cloak, dodge and speed increases from the opponent using ‘Resilient Strike’ (1100). Finally, its priority ‘Taunting Defence’ gives Majundasuchus shields and increases its armour too.

Rodrigues Solitaire is a flock with has high damage (1300) and high speed (129), along with immunity to swap prevention and resistances to damage over time (50%), reduced damage (50%) and rend (33%). Its ‘Flightless Strike’ (1300) bypasses armour, removing damage increases and reducing opponent crit chance. ‘Cunning Strike’ (2600) cleanses damage over time removing attack and crit increase and reducing opponents damage and crit chance. It’s able to cleanse all negative effects and reduce damage using ‘Protective Alert [2]’ but will also impose vulnerability or rally heal Rodrigues Solitaire. It’s a creature deserving of a spot in your Rare tournament team and taking one of those 8 team spots.

Tuojiangosaurus has mid health (3600) and 1000 damage. It has 3 ways in reducing the speed on its opponent; its ‘Swap In Slow’, ‘Decelerating Counter’ (1000) and its ‘Group Decelerating Strike’ which targets all opponents. Using its ‘Resilient Strike’ (1000) cleanses reduced damage, imposes vulnerability, and removes cloak, dodge and speed increases from the opponent. Finally, there’s its precise attack ‘Precise Rampage’ (2000). It’s not something you’d put in your Rare Tournament team just as there’s so many, much better choices in filling those 8 team spots.

Tyrannosaurus Rex Gen 2 has high health (4350), the highest damage of the rare creatures (1800) and it has a 20% crit chance and a 104 speed. All 3 of its abilities bypass armour but its ‘Armour Piercing Rampage’ (3600) does not break shields, whereas its ‘Fierce Strike’ (1800) and ‘Defence Shattering Impact’ (2700) break shields. It’s also not something you’d put in your Rare Tournament team just as there’s so many, much better choices in filling those 8 team spots.

Free Cash Link

GamePress is excited to be able to provide weekly cash links worth $50 cash in game! The code can only be claimed once a week and you must click on it using the device you play JWA with. It will be active from Wednesday, 12am Eastern - Tuesday, 11:59pm Eastern every week. This is a promotional code provided courtesy of Ludia, Inc and is exclusive to GamePress. We will post this link in an article we publish each week. We will post all articles on our Twitter so follow us at NewsJWA on Twitter so you don't miss out!

If you enjoy our content, please help let others know this is the source of the cash links people just post for the taking all over social media. The same goes for YouTuber Gaming Beaver. All links have a purpose behind them, and that is to promote some kind of media and drive traffic. Most people simply do not know there is actually a purpose behind these links, and we'd like to try to educate as many as we can. Take a moment to politely explain this in these posts. It isn't free money some random stranger on the internet whipped up. Every time these links are shared, it is taking opportunity away from an intended purpose. Please think about that or maybe find some time to visit Gaming Beaver, GamePress JWA, and the Ludia social medias.

*We can not control when Ludia officially deploys these links, but these are the times they are planned to be active.

Parting Words

When choosing what to dart, it can depend on your player level. So, think about the creatures’ hybrids, working out which hybrid or future hybrids would be a best fit for your team or to help you achieve any goals you may have; how far these hybrids are away from being created for yourself and finally, by looking at ‘creature tier lists’, for example the ‘Popularity’ and ‘Community Rankings’ tier lists’.

Looking at week 1 of the Tournament Clash theme, there will be opinions about some of the creatures being featured and their links to topping the tournament ranks. Perhaps, week 2 will provide us with more insight into this and why certain creatures are being a part of this, the Tournament Clash theme.

Of course, we want to hear about what you plan to dart and why, but also your thoughts and opinions. Join the GamePress Discord Server and get in the discussion today!

And leaving you with that, from Kelly and Luke here at GamePress, thank you for reading!
