have you ever
heard about that guy in vegas?
he felt uncomfortable with the odds of texas hold'em
and insisted sucsessfull on his right to see all hole-cards at the beginning ahead of the other players.
because, so he explained, this would increase his chances to win a pot.
everyone agreed, for how else he was supposed to know if he holds a wining hand.
ever heard of this guy?
no?
nore me.
makes me wonder how so many people come to think that this line of argument might work for the use of trackermaps in pokémongo.

OP is saying that people justifying the use of trackers is like someone knowing the cards they're dealt.
Some of the arguments for using 3rd party trackers are that its a crapshoot what you get since the in game one isn't good, so they "deserve" to get the Pokemon that they think they would have found if the in game tracker didn't show rattatas over a rare Pokemon just because it was at a closer stop.
He's comparing the "right" to know where good Pokemon randomly spawn is like having the right to know when you're dealt a winning hand in poker, at least that's how I interpreted it.
I am not going to defend trackers...but it isn't about a 'closer' stop having a rat, that makes me personally think that the in game tracker needs work.
It is because the ONLY stop within a 5km radius is over 1km away, and a single rat or pidgey showing up that far away removes 6 entries from my in game tracker, that spawn between me and that pokestop that is over 1km away.
Why do I need to know about something that far away, when there are plenty more spawns closer...and why does it need to remove 6 entries to tell me about it?
Don't think this means I am condoning trackers - but some people, including Niantic themselves clearly don't understand just how frustrating and useless the current in game system is for some players.
I missed out on a Snorlax today because the tracker misled me. I've had plenty of great luck in this game recently so I can't be too upset. Buy it would have been nice to know I was only missing out on a few Doduo candy to fill the Kantodex. I would have preferred blissful oblivion rather than being teased to jump out of bed first thing for a wild goose chase.
