Aerodactyl moveset

Probably related to the Gen2 move changes but rating only recently updated because it is not a high tier pokemon.

I can't imagine Aerodactyl doing rock better than Rhydon/Golem or even Sudowoodo, and doing flying better than Scyther/Charizard/Dragonite. So... his use probably limited.

It changed in the moveset rebalancing around Febuary 2017.

Previously, Steel Wing was a very slow move with high base damage, unsuitable for offense but great for defence.

Now, it deals the highest unmodified DPS of all quick moves, while Bite still does the same damage as before but it had it's energy gain reduced, which was one of the reasons the move was good even on non-dark Pokemon, to charge your special move.

Hyper Beam used to be the best move because the other two sucked prior to the move rebalancing, they were so bad that it wasn't worth using them over your quick moves, unlike Hyper Beam.

Ancient Power used to be 4 bars with 35 base damage if I remember correctly, and Iron Head was 3 bars with 50 base damage I believe, and both were incredibly slow, 3+ seconds per use.
