Niantic has recently posted a job opening for Head of Product - Pokemon GO, located at their San Francisco office.
This position seems to hold much of the responsibility for overseeing the direction for the game, which is has been Niantic's flagship since its release in 2016.
Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science or Arts in "Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent", as well as experience with a "globally successful mobile game product".
