- Dataminers have found references to Team Rocket battles and "purifying" Pokemon
- Frustration, Return, and Synchronoise also found in the code
On June 26, 2019, Niantic released an update to version 0.147.1 to Pokemon GO.
Dataminer @Kelven91 has posted new references in the code that may be related to new features arriving in the game. These snippets of code reference 2 new badges, new "Rocket Grunt" characters, and even something called "Shadow Pokemon".
There have been several references to Team Rocket in the game in the past through the costumes, and most recently as a "photobomb" during Chicago GO Fest 2019.
None of this code has been implemented in the game, but the volume of new code additions means we can likely expect it to be used sometime in the future.
In addition, @Kelven91 revealed three new move names that don't have associated stats: Return, Frustration, and Synchronoise.
In the main series games, these are all damaging moves with different properties. Return and Frustration do damage based on your "friendship level" with the Pokemon, and Synchronoise deals damage to any Pokemon that shares a type with the attacker.
