If we're looking at another few days of Registeel, followed by a month of Regirock, and a Chicorita community day in September, well, that's not exciting in the least. Ho-hum.
On the other hand, Niantic has been pretty good lately about getting the player base fired up for the next thing. Problem is, as of now, there is no clear 'next thing' to be excited about. Maybe Gen4 will release, maybe the level cap will go up, maybe PvP will start, but we can't get too excited about maybes.
I think it would be smart, and good marketing, for them to tease the roadmap for the next few months, preferably before 8/19, when the trading discounts end and we get a raid boss shift. (Of course, we could get shiny Groudon/Rayquaza before Regirock, which would be cool too.) But right now, all I have to get excited about is powering up a few pokemon, thinking about how Gen4 will play out (with all the associated questions), and wondering what's next.
Yes, I know the Yokosuka event is happening at the end of the month. Not planning on flying across the US and the Pacific to get there. And presumably, we'll unlock a Moltres raid day, and a 'bigger reward' which will likely be the full Celebi quest (or it could be the announcement that Raid Days will become a permanent feature, which would be nice). But these unlocks are pretty much automatic, and Moltres is about to be surpassed by Heatran. A shiny is/will be nice, but not that meaningful to me (although I do like my shiny Gyarados, helps me tell which one I'm on in a Groudon raid). Got 5 shinies of 12 catches on Zapdos raid day, but doesn't do much for me.
Anyone have any concrete info on the near future? Rumors are fun, but that and a couple bucks will get you a bus ride. What does the roadmap look like?
