Pokemon Snap, the very long-awaited sequel to the hit 1999 Nintendo 64 game of the same name, is almost here! In honor of the game's arrival, we get to enjoy another event in Pokemon Go in honor of the new Lental region where the game takes place is on its way.

  • Pokemon from "deserts, jungles, and underwater" will be featured. So this is likely going to give us an emphasis on Ground, Grass, and Water Types in particular
  • Similar theming will be applied to raid bosses for the event
  • Smeargle will appear more frequently in response to snapshots, and will be available in its shiny forme for the event only. It will come back, but this seems to be another Meltan case.
  • Field Research and Timed Research will be available for the event
  • A camera will be available in the avatar shop.

The New Pokémon Snap Celebration commemorates the April 30 release of New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch!

In New Pokémon Snap, you’ll travel to islands unknown to photograph a variety of Pokémon and create your very own Pokémon Photodex. To celebrate the game’s release, you can enjoy an event in Pokémon GO inspired by this fun method of researching Pokémon ecology through photography!

In celebration of the release of New Pokémon Snap on Nintendo Switch, you can look forward to an event inspired by the photography-focused game and the Lental region where it’s set! Pokémon inspired by different habitats in the Lental region will be appearing more often in the wild and in raids, a new avatar item and sticker will be available, and Shiny Smeargle will be making its Pokémon GO debut!
