Advice on fast tm use

Hello. First time posting, looking for a bit of advice on fast tm usage if someones feeling kind. The options are...

Dragonite 91% - steel wing/hurricane
Tyranitar 82% - iron tail/fire blast :'(
Machamp 93% - bullet punch/close combat
Rhydon 82% - rock smash/megahorn (have 4 of these, guessing it would be quite a waste using it on this)
Jolteon 87% - volt switch/discharge

Bit of background.. from new zealand now living in napoli italy with my italian wife. Just the two of us play, we dont know anyone else that plays. We're almost lvl 30 and quite lucky as we've got 2 gyms at each end of our street each 200m away, and another 4 within 10 minutes walking distance. So plenty of pokestops gyms and raids here. We go almost everywhere by foot or train. Though we don't see barely any rare/valuable pokemon here. We just started playing again about a month before the gym rework and hadn't played for a long time before that. With the event of raids i started looking into the number crunching side of the game and the movesets, before which i had no idea what the hell i was doing so i put a crazy amount of candy and stardust in the rubbish haha. For example i waited for months to evolve my favorite pokemon marowak which i then maxed out, then wondered why it was still so useless. So i googled a bit. At which point i realised a bit about how the game works and that my favorite was never going to be usable and id wasted all that dust, and unistalled the game.

Anyway, at the moment we've just started trying to duo 3 star raids, we've just beat arcanine and i got a fast tm so wondering how best to use it in regards to going at the other 3 star raids... im thinking dragonite? By the way most of these pokemon were obtained back when eggs were hatching good things, then evolved during the event which gave extra buddy candy. Normally don't see any of these pokemon here.

Anyway, pardon the rambling. Which would be best to fast tm?

machamp makes the most sense since u dont have a CTM for ttar. Its a coin toss betw dragon or machamp

I'd go with the Dragonite, because each of your other choices aren't specific type counters for many three skull raids, and Dragonite is the best generalist attacker. The ttar would be my second choice for similar reasons. However, the ttar will be very bad into machamp and vaporeon.

I have a Dnite with the same set, a Machamp with the same set, and a Ttar with Iron tail/Stone edge. I have 4 fast TMs and the only one I used was on the Machamp so far.

I say Machamp because you will end up with counter/close combat, which is a good move set for Machamp, on a high IV mon that will be good in attacking a wide variety of other pokemon, including ones like Blissey, Snorlax and Tyranitar. The Dragonite would be OK, too. But the Machamp will be a better Machamp than the Dragonite is a Dragonite.

I would do the Tyranitar fast TM, then charged TM it as soon as you get one

The dragonite with HU will be useful to add to your machamp team. If you want to run small teams 4-5 versus lapras, t'tar, snorlax you need to both have lots of machamps. you can do machamp with 2. Machamp would be next in line. My 2 cents ;)

What level are your mons in question?

Lvl 23.5 . Dragonite 91% - steel wing/hurricane
Lvl 21.5 . Tyranitar 82% - iron tail/fire blast :'(
Lvl 26.5 . Machamp 93% - bullet punch/close combat
Lvl 22.5 . Rhydon 82% - rock smash/megahorn (have 4 of these, guessing it would be quite a waste using it on this)
Lvl 29 . Jolteon 87% - volt switch/discharge

I would go with either the Dragonite or the Machamp. Machamp is currently useful in this meta because it is the strongest counter to Tyranitar, which in turn is the strongest counter to the psychic legendaries.

If you're sometimes unable to finish 3 star raids, then switching the Dragonite to Dragon Tail might do the trick and make pretty much any 3 star raid easier to do, which in turn makes getting more Machamps and the raid rewards (more TMs) easier.

I wouldn't bother with using TMs on Rhydon right now. They're only optimal against electric types, all the other types a Rhydon is good against, there's a better Pokemon for. Until Raikou is released, I don't see a use for them.

Personally wouldn't TM Jolteon either. Sure you've invested dust and candies into it, but I find that dust and Eevee candies are easier to come by than TMs, so I would rather level up another Eevee that already has the optimal moveset (Thunder Shock + Thunderbolt) rather than use TMs on one with Volt Switch + Discharge, because if you're unlucky, there's no telling how many charge TMs you might use trying to get Thunderbolt.

Machamp yes (it's always good to have more), but not Dragonite. Read his above comments.
The Dragonite isn't very high level, and he already has a DT/Hur Dragonite.

DragoniteSlayer. The thread is a little hard to follow becomes someone else chimed in that they already have a DT/hurricane but this was not the original poster. I did not down vote you by the way...

Machamp is a must fast TM for sure and the OP will eventually have more than 1 fast TM.

Machamp, then Tyranitar.
Do you have any other SW Dragonite? If no, keep SW on this one. If yes, it's up to you.

I would do the machamp because that counter is awesome, and with it you can raid trex and maybe get more tms and a trex with the cc movesets. I changed my Dnite fast move from steel and i think i regret it.

I would say the Dragonite. You would still need a Charge TM to make the Ttar into something decent. The two of you should be able to take down Machamp in a raid without too much difficulty and catch one with a better moveset.
That leaves Dragonite as the best choice for your fast TM.

I would go with Machamp myself...Just too many Blissey gyms out there (every single gym has a Blissey normally) and keep working on your team by doing level 3 raids daily...Try to get more Machamps and hope 2-3 other people show up for a Tyranitar raid...

At least for the next 4 days while we have them...I think they will swap out on Friday.

It'd be cool if they had Pulpitar raids and I can solo them...

If you have very less TM, my advice is just wait. Dragonite still able to work with SW. Machamp CD was much usefull than C. Go for more raids and get DtO Dragonite, BS/BC Tyranitar and CCD Machamp. You might have more usefull for your TM.

Greetings from across the ditch.

My wife and I play the same as you and yours ... ie our end game is duo'ing level 3 raids. She is relatively casual, I'm a bit more keen. We've sucessfully done Machamp, Gengar, Arcanine, Vaporeon and Alakazam. The next we are aiming at is Flareon; we just need to have one hatch when we are out and about.

Because we duo, I think about our mons more as a joint team ... we generally only need four suitable mons each to complete the raid. Tyranitar, Rhydon, Golem and Dragonite are useful across the most level three raids; Vaporeon, Houndoom and a good psychic come next. It's quite easy to say "TM mon X or mon Y to get the best individual dps" but maybe the question should be "Would it better to fix my Alakazam or Donphan or Sandshrew so together you have a stronger, complementary team?"

What level three raid boss are you aiming at next ? I'd have a look what you can contribute right away, and what she can contribute, and see if some less obvious mon pops out as the right one to level up or TM. Alakazam gave us quite a bit of trouble until she leveled up a Gengar, and I changed a Scizor to double bug. But if I asked here, not too many people would say TM the Scizor.

Of course, if you think you'll find a bigger group and go after level 4 or 5 raids sooner rather than later, then this whole suggestion will carry less weight.

Hopefully you managed to get a Mr Mime as well as a wife ... Europe's been good to you !

Gday! We tried gengar a few days ago and kept timing out with him between what looked like 3%-10% hp left each time, so thinking gengar vaporeon machamp to try next. Just need to hope one pops up whilst were out and about. At the moment just about all the raids seem to be legendaries which is a bit annoying. Never seen anyone that seemed to be doing those raids either so dont like our chances of finding a group here unfortunately.

Yeah i understand what you're saying and you make a good point. We have a similar mindset. Most of the high iv mons I've evolved generally have good movesets. Except for rhydon 5 or 6 times rock smash and megahorn. My wife is the opposite she seems to get the perfect moveset every time but the problem is shes an absolute hoarder with the stardust and doesnt want to power anything up. Trying to convince her and shes slowly getting there. Shes got a lot of high iv mons i dont have. Mate i certainly have caught a few mr mimes believe it or not we seem to have a mr mime nest in our garden the last couple of weeks haha!

My first choice is Dragonite.
Both a great short and long term choice.

Short term because with the high CP, you immediatly have a strong generalist attacker, very useful in the Machamp raid.

Long term because with the high IV you can power it up.

Machamp is a good short term choice but a not so good long term choice. He will immediatly give you a good fighter. However, it does not have the best charged move. you will probably manage to get a better one with Dynamic Punch during a raid with your wife.

Tyranitar will not be a good choice because with fire blast it is really not great short term. Long term you probably can find another Tyranitar with better IV.
