Predict the next non-starter community day protagonists
We are about to meet the tenth species to be featured in a community event. I want to know what you think we will get next. Order doesn't matter since there's not much of a pattern but rather a tendency of alternating between starters and 10k egg pseudo-legendaries. We are done with gen 1 starters and pseudos, gen 2 pseudos and next we'll go through the rest of gen 2 starters and the first gen 3 species to be featured. Niantic has proved they could not care less about maintaining any kind of order but I think many of you can list the next community day species (not counting starters) that you think will get featured based on absolutely nothing but your gut feeling.
Here's the list so far:
1. Pikachu---------Alt Starter------------------(Gen 1)
2. Dratini----------10k pseudo-legendary----(Gen 1)
3. Bulbasaur------Proper Starter-------------(Gen 1)
4. Mareep---------10k hatch------------------(Gen 2)
5. Charmander----Proper Starter-------------(Gen 1)
6. Larvitar---------10k pseudo-legendary----(Gen 2)
7. Squirtle---------Proper Starter-------------(Gen 1)
8. Eevee-----------Future Starter-------------(Gen 1)
9. Chikorita--------Proper Starter------------(Gen 2)
10. Beldum---------10k pseudo-legendary-- (Gen 3)

I think that the starters will roll out in pokedex order and next will be Cyndaquil, then Totodile.
You just made me panic saying that Gen 4 is not coming out until the end of January. I was expecting their release would start in November this year. But the truth is that October is covered with Mewtwo, Deoxys and Beldun CD. December will have the usual Holidays event. At some point before the end of the year PvP should be added. If they added PvP in November that is enough to justify holding off Gen 4 release even longer that they have already. Not good. I hope you are wrong here.
Edit: Damn, they will definitely do something in Nov matching the release of Let's go
Ralts, Bagon and Slakoth are all possibilities. They need to consider how much the CD would interest people and those are all species that would get lots of players outside during the event.
If the starters keep appearing every second month (can't think of any reason they wouldn't), the next non-starter after those would appear in April. That's probably too early for gen 4 non-starters, so likely we'll see some other gen 1-3 mons for at least April, June and August, until they get to the gen 4 starters.
Trapinch is a possibility, albeit a pretty underwhelming one, and they could also do Machop since the shiny would be super popular.
Trapinch and Mareep is a good comparison. If they do Trapinch, I really hope they try to give Flygon some sort of meta-relevancy by giving it a great ground-type charge move.
I personally think Lotad is also a very underwhelming choice, but it is rare despite having been an uncommon featured mon in events this year, so wouldn't be that surprising.
November - Cyndaquil
December - Trapinch/Ralts (doubt it’ll be Ralts)
January - Totodile
February - Bagon/Random
March - Treecko
Some contenders: Machop, Slakoth, Aron, Gastly, Abra, other random popular Pokémon like Chansey.
I’m not sure what they would do for Ralts, as no Fairy-type move that could be a fast move can be learned by Gardevoir unless they made a charge move into a fast move. Giving it another Psychic move would be underwhelming and just for the novelty of it, plus there’s Gallade.
Bagon would be cool, I’m not a huge fan of shiny Salamence but getting a 2-bar charge move would be great.
Slakoth would suck, Shiny isn’t great and it probably wouldn’t learn any other fast move so we’d provably get Body Slam.
Trapinch could be okay, Shiny Flygon is decent but I don’t think it would make it relevant even if given better moves.
