Overview
Piccolo is a welcomed addition to the Namekians category and is a fantastic Card that can excel on the toughest of events thanks to Piccolo’s extraordinary DEF options. While Piccolo is an immovable object in his base form when his Active Skill is used Piccolo shifts to the offensive. The biggest drawbacks to this Card are its unfortunate Link Skills and an Active Skill restriction that can limit this Cards potential and flexibility to run on certain Teams.
With or without his Active Skill, Piccolo is a fantastic Card that can help any player survive some chaotic battles.
Strengths
Prior to his transformation Piccolo has a particularly high DEF stat, a 100% ATK & DEF Buff and stacks DEF thanks to his Super ATK. On top of being a DEF juggernaut, Piccolo can also heal for 7% HP when HP is below 77%, and can see when the Enemy will launch a Super ATK.
With these abilities, players can strategically use Piccolo to avoid the guesswork and frustration of wasting a Card with a high DEF on normal Enemy ATKs.
Post fusion Piccolo retains the DEF stack he gained prior, and now becomes an offensive Card with a 120% ATK & DEF Buff. On top of this, Piccolo has up to a 40% chance of performing a critical hit, the more player HP remains, giving the option to run this Card as an impenetrable wall or heavy hitter. Thanks to Piccolo’s new Super ATK he has a 50% chance to Stun the enemy, giving himself and the Team more opportunities to land strategic hits.
On top of all of this, Piccolo retain his ability to recover HP and forsee Enemy Super ATKs. If players did not stack a lot of DEF prior to fusion or did stack a lot, Piccolo now gains a passive that reduces all damage received by 40%. In short, virtually nobody is getting past Piccolo.
On top of being a great tank and heavy hitter Piccolo is the leader Namekians desperately needed, as well as a leader for Worthy Rivals. Thanks to this dual category Leader Skill this offers players the flexibility of running this Card outside of a purely Namekians Team.
Weaknesses
Piccolo’s Active Skill turns his incredible defense into a powerful offense, however, the biggest drawback is the restriction requiring a Namekians category ally. Is having a Namekian ally hard to achieve? Not necessarily, but don’t count on bringing another Piccolo Card, unless it is a guest leader, because this Card shares the same name as every other Piccolo Card.
If players don’t have a secondary Piccolo as a guest leader, this forces players to bring Namekian allies in order to maximize the usage of this Card.
While Piccolo’s toolkit is impressive before and after his Active Skill, his Link Skills are something to be desired. While “Shocking Speed” and “Fierce Battle” will see use often, Piccolo’s other Link Skills like “Z Fighters” “Brainiacs” and “Cold Judgement” won’t see much use unless on very specific Team builds. These Link Skills are not necessarily difficult to achieve, but they are restrictive and not allowing this Card to have more fluidity in its ability to synergize with numerous Teams.
Synergy
While Piccolo can easily slot into all of his category Teams, thanks to his DEF options in his base form, players will need to run this Card alongside a Namekian ally to maximize his potential. This does mean running this Piccolo as a leader or having it as a guest leader, are a player’s best option to activate this Card’s Active Skill.
While players can certainly run Piccolo without his Active Skill, he misses out on numerous Buffs that really make this Card stand out from being just a tank. Players should also be aware this Card’s only Ki Link is “Shocking Speed”, which fortunately not difficult to activate, but the lack of a second Ki Link may prove to be annoying in certain scenarios.
