PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Razor Leaf is a no-brainer for Leafeon's fast move.
  • Leaf Blade is the superior charged move in almost every respect.
  • Solar Beam and Energy Ball are serviceable, just not optimal.
  • Last Resort isn't meant for offense.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • STAB Razor Leaf is just so much stronger than Quick Attack.
  • Leaf Blade is used often, hits fast, and is fairly strong.
  • Energy Ball and Solar Beam are easier to dodge and cost more energy.
  • Last Resort is quite easy to dodge, and doesn't offer very valuable coverage.

PVE Overview

Leafeon would be a more impactful Pokemon if there didn't already exist Community Day starters and a legion of other great Grass Pokemon. If you have those, then there's no reason to use Leafeon. In contrast to some other Eeveelutions, Leafeon is less accessible than its competitors, which negates one of the benefits of being an Eeveelution. It's not a bad Pokemon, though.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Razor Leaf or Quick Attack + Leaf Blade and Last Resort

Razor Leaf and Quick Attack are almost polar opposites of each other. The former features very high raw damage with STAB, while the latter offers neutral below-average damage for much higher energy gains. Generally speaking Razor Leaf is the way to go, but Quick Attack is more useful in scenarios where Razor Leaf is resisted.

Leaf Blade is Leafeon's best charge move, as it gets STAB, costs low amounts of energy, and has a high 2.0 DPE (Damage Per Energy). It's also superior to all of Leafeon's other Grass-type charge moves. Last Resort is recommended as the second choice due to it providing neutral coverage.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 2 / 5

Leafeon is an interesting candidate for Great League, featuring a mono-Grass typing and overall decent stats. While a high defense stat does suggest it has bulk, this is somewhat compromised by its lower stamina stat. While the addition of Last Resort does provide neutral coverage, the relatively high energy cost makes it difficult to access without sacrificing the powerful damage output of Razor Leaf. Overall Leafeon can do the job of what a Grass-type should do, but other Grass can do it way better while offering much more in terms of coverage or utility.

Ultra League: 2 / 5

Leafeon performs similarly in Ultra League compared to Great League. What's interesting this league is that Leafeon actually ties with Snorlax depending on shielding, but loses to its other mono-Grass counterpart, Meganium. Leafeon's wins against almost every Water-type possible in this league is definitely a plus, but maybe consider Meganium for its access to a stronger coverage move.

Master League: 2.5 / 5

With a max CP of 2944 Leafeon falls behind in stats to compete well with the legendaries in Master League. Thanks to the CP cap being removed in this league, Leafeon is able to take revenge for its loss against Meganium in Ultra League, and interestingly enough is still capable of beating most Pokemon that have a weakness to Grass, including Groudon and Kyogre. Despite this, inadequate stats and little coverage makes other options more considerable for this league.
