Welcome to Summer! The time has some to enjoy the weather and keep cool as the sun beats down from above, and what better way to spend a day than at the beach? Well, Pokemon Go has you covered, and it's time to pour the sane out of your shoes, and go explore on the sandy dunes and in the cool water, as we're on our way to the Water Festival: Beach Week.

  • Sandygast and Palossand make their debut in Pokemon Go
  • a Global Challenge will be available to all trainers across the world, granting rewards based on the number of Nice Throws performed with a total goal of 300 million
    • Rewards are increased Candy and XL Candy for Nice throws or better
  • 4x Rainy Lure duration
  • A $5.00 Paid Research line will be available that will lead to event-themed Pokemon encounters and a new Surfing avatar pose
  • New Summer-based Avatar Items will be available in the shop
  • A special selection of Pokemon will spawn in the wild
  • A special selection of Pokemon will be available via Field Research
    • Among them, Lapras will be in a Special Costume, wearing a scarf
  • A selection of Pokemon will be available in Raids
    • Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf will remain region-locked
    • Lapras will be in a Special Costume, wearing a scarf

Oceans of fun await in Water Festival: Beach Week! Our Water Festival event returns with a sandy(gast) debut!

Enjoy a week featuring Pokémon you’d find by sunny shores, Pokémon debuts, a Global Challenge, a special Timed Research ticket, and more!

Sandygast, the Sand Heap Pokémon, and Palossand, the Sand Castle Pokémon, will make their Pokémon GO debuts!

Global Challenge

A Global Challenge will take place throughout the event! Work with Trainers around the world to throw 300 million Nice Throws to unlock bonuses for all Trainers to enjoy for the remainder of the event!

Global Challenge goal: 300 million Nice Throws

Global Challenge bonus:

  • Increased Candy for Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws

Timed Research

For US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.

Complete the research tasks to earn a surfer pose for your avatar and encounters with event-themed Pokémon!

Please note that Timed Research expires. The Timed Research tasks and their rewards will disappear on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

*Please note that the Water Festival: Beach Week Timed Research Ticket will only be available in the in-game shop from Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
