Overview
This Trunks is right at the top of premium UR Cards in Dokkan Battle. He performs amazingly well by himself and brings a stellar Leader Skill for Super Teams. His Passive Skill makes him reliable and strong from the beginning, and his Transformation guarantees Trunks will only get better on longer and harder game modes.
It might be wise to hold off transforming the second time, though, as it’s not a direct upgrade like the first time.
Strengths
Trunks is the best Future Saga category leader, giving +170% ATK, HP, and +130% DEF to his allies. On top of that, he gives Super Class Teammates +120% ATK, HP, and DEF. This Leader Skill allows for very flexible Super Teams. Trunks can also act as a pseudo leader for any of his six categories so long as he’s in a Super Team.
As a Dokkan Fest Card, he has very high base stats, but also boasts an unconditional +100% ATK/DEF Passive and stacking Super ATK. This allows him to be very efficient from the start of the fight.
Lastly, his SSJ Transformation gives him stacking ATK and DEF on his Super ATK, meaning he’s also a very strong Card for harder content.
Trunks is in six categories, including some very popular ones like Hybrid Saiyans, Super Saiyans, and Vegeta’s Family.
Weaknesses
Trunks becomes a nuker with his second transformation, which changes his Super ATK from stacking ATK and DEF to massively lowered DEF, making him weaker in content like Fighting Legend: Goku and Infinite Dragon Ball History.
While his second transformation can be situationally good, it’s usually better to stay in his standard SSJ form.
Nuking is strong in very specific scenarios where you want to end a fight as soon as possible. Trunks only being able to nuke from his fourth turn onwards makes it very difficult to use that part of his kit effectively.
His Link Skills aren’t amazing. They’re definitely serviceable--especially after he Transforms and gets the two Super Saiyan Links--but you’ll have to Link him with other Trunks, Vegeta, or Future Gohan Cards to use him to his full potential.
Synergy
Trunks can go anywhere, as long as you’re bringing in Super allies. He works particularly well in categories like Time Travelers and Future Saga where he can be paired with other Trunks or Future Gohan Cards that share several of his Link Skills.
Other than that, he can be paired with Super Saiyans since he has the “Golden Warrior” and “Super Saiyan” Links while transformed. Due to his unique versatility, Trunks can be used in all Dokkan game modes.
