Arena Offense Tier List Criteria

The following is an explanation of how the tier list was made: the criteria each unit was evaluated against and a short explanation on why each unit is placed as they are. Some subjectivity is unavoidable when it comes to tier lists, so we encourage users to seek other perspectives and opinions on unit viability alongside the information in our tier list.

Note: Fire Emblem Heroes provides a significant number of ways to vastly improve units via Skill Inheritance, Ally/Summoner Support, Sacred Seals, Dragonflowers, ally buff support, and so on. Please keep this in mind when considering placements in this tier list, as every unit can be completely viable in all modes of play.

The tier list can be found here.

The primary factors considered when tiering heroes are as follows:

  • Unique Combat Strength - What makes the hero powerful in offensive combat? Skills that are unique to the hero and greatly augment their combat ability, such as Tibarn: Lord of the Air’s Hawk King Claw or Ophelia: Dramatic Heroine’s Missiletainn, will offer a more favourable placement than a similar hero without these advantages.

  • Independent Strength - How effectively can a hero win combat encounters without the help of a dedicated support hero, such as Corrin: Fateful Prince or Kaden: Kitsune Braggart. Does this unit’s strength allow for teammates who offer support beyond direct damage amplification?

  • Unique Support Strength - What makes the hero powerful in a support role? Skills that are unique to the hero and greatly augment their support ability, such as Azura: Vallite Songstress’s Gray Waves or Lucina: Brave Princess’s Geirskögul, will offer a more favourable placement than a similar hero without these advantages.
    • Similarly, support oriented heroes with uniquely powerful offensive capability, such as Micaiah: Summer’s Dawn and Ishtar: Thunder’s Waltz are tiered more favourably as a result of their proficiency in both combat and support.

  • Viability in Aether Raids, Arena and PvE - How effective is the hero in clearing maps in Aether Raids, Arena and PvE gamemodes? Heroes are not penalised for their impact on scores acquired in different gamemodes: this includes the effect of Base Stat Total on Arena scoring, and the availability of Blessings in Aether Raids.

  • Duo Skills – Can the hero utilise a Duo Skill? If so, how effective is the Duo Skill in clearing maps? Heroes who can clear maps more effectively through the use of their Duo Skill, such as Hector: Dressed-Up Duo, will have a more favourable tier placement.

  • Classes Infantry, Flying, Cavalry and Armored heroes are tiered appropriately based on a range of factors that come as a result of their classification.

    • Infantry heroes receive bonuses for their wide skill access.

    • Flying heroes receive bonuses for their high mobility but are penalized for their limited skill access and weakness to effective damage.

    • Cavalry heroes receive bonuses for their enhanced movement and attack range but are penalized for the impact of their BST penalties on their combat proficiency, difficulty traversing forest and trench tiles, and weakness to effective damage.

    • Armored heroes receive bonuses for their unique skill access and the impact of their BST on combat proficiency but are penalized for their weakness to effective damage and their limited movement where relevant. Armored heroes can remedy their movement through skills such as Armored March and Armored Boots, but this is only considered in the instance of a dedicated Galeforce Player Phase build.
