Analysis

Aegis brings almost everything you want in a tank. HP comparable to a Shotgun, an equally strong Armor Stat and modest Evasion make Aegis quite difficult to beat down on a purely statistical level. While not amazing, they can also deal passable chip damage when in Destroy stance. However, investment into Aegis is not without downside as they will eventually be outclassed by their bigger, badder, brother, the SWAP Aegis.

What makes Aegis truly shine is their Skills, Fearless Defense and Shield of Holy Light. Shield of Holy Light provides an HP shield on a short cooldown, with nearly perfect uptime at max Skill Level. While increasing enemy Damage means that this will rarely last the entire 5 second duration the consistent additional defensive measure further extends the survivability of an Aegis unit. Their second Skill, Fearless Defense, is a flat percentage Damage reduction for both themselves and any units in the same column. This is obviously most useful in “Defense” stance, as units can be moved up to occupy the same column as needed.

If Aegis has a downside it is they are eventually outdone by their bigger brother, and to get the maximum value out of them, they do require rather significant investment. However, a pair of Aegis’s will serve as a dependable frontline for Coalition Echelons that are not using Manticores prior to the arrival of their SWAP variant.

Skill Priority

Shield of Holy Light
ICD: 4 Seconds
Medium-High Priority While not quite SAT8 levels of strong, the Aegis’s repeatably applied shield does wonders to survivability, especially the cooldown reduction. The improvements from SL1 to 5 are not insignificant, but it can be postponed to level other more important Skills if the Data RNG is not on your side, or .
Fearless Defense
Passive
Medium-Low Priority While the Damage reduction for the Aegis and its allies is quite potent, the scaling is comparatively poor. While important to get peak performance out of your Aegis, if Data is tight, this can be put on hold if needed.
