You should be able to remove a placed wallpaper and return to the default one the same way you place any other wallpaper (go to Editor > Wallpaper > select Default).

Removing Wallpaper and Floors?
How do you remove a placed wallpaper or floor (that is, not the default one) if you don't have one hand to replace it with? I can't find a way to just strip a wallpaper or floor and I don't have any defaults right now. Or do I need to buy another dorm so that I gain another default floor and wallpaper....but then I'm still wondering how I can swap that out for another one if I don't have spares.
