T-Doll Analysis

Equipment

Special Equipment
MGO 6X48

Overview

This cute hard worker is a 2 star MG that commanders first obtain from the career quests, and so is likely to be part of their first MGSG team. Despite being a 2 star, LWMMG packs stats and a skill that place her right below the Big 4. Overall, good FP and a first volley skill called Hunting Impulse lets LWMMG be of great use to commanders until they acquire the Big 4.

Equipment

Special Equipment
MGO 6X48

Overview

Being a 2 to 4 star MOD, LWMMG gets some much needed Acc and clip stats boost. Her MOD III equipment is essentially a glorified ACOG, which is a type of equipment that fell out of use with the advent of fairies. That, and her MOD III giving her only one FP buff, means that commanders can stop at MOD 2. Her second skill is a passive with a 20% chance to grant a 5 HP shield for the doll on her tile whenever she shoots, and guaranteed shield procs when her skill 1 is active. Due to being limited to her tiles, her skill isn’t of much use on 2 SG teams. Where it shines best is on 1 SG teams fielded to tank largeswarms of low FP enemies, such as hordes of ELID, where her shield can be used to significantly prolong the SG’s life. This was best seen in Isomer and Shattered Connexion rankings, where ELID teams were fielded. As her heyday is past, LWMMG may not see much action, and so her mod is not as recommended as it was on foreign servers. She may still see use in Polarized Light day ranking, so commanders wishing to give a chance to this cute hard worker may bring her to MOD 2.

Strengths

Good FP base

Despite being a 2 star, she packs a decent FP stat that, when combined with her Hunting Impulse skill, results in good first volley damage.

Skill

At 3 seconds initial cooldown, Hunting Impulse grants an accuracy buff, which LWMMG sorely needs due to her average accuracy stat, and guaranteed crit hits until it wears off. As most of the MGs have a second volley skill instead (Firepower Focus, or the awful Lock and Load), LWMMG’s stands out for being a useful, first volley skill.

Weaknesses

Average accuracy

Having a mere 24 accuracy means that, despite her skill, LWMMG needs additional accuracy buffs to help with enemies mildly evasive.

Mediocre tiles

Having 10% damage and 10% ROF buffs, on top of only buffing one position means that LWMMG’s tile buffs will most often be ignored in favour of stronger, better tiles.

Low ROF

90 ROF means that LWMMG, in fights that last beyond the first volley, spends a good time reloading. In long fights, such as Judge or Gustav, that puts her at a severe disadvantage over other MGs, like Lewis or Negev.

Full Analysis

As MGs are a niche class in Girls’ Frontline, raising a good MG can be the difference between having a useful niche unit and a complete waste of resources. As LWMMG is acquired from the career quest at 50x3, after completing map 3-2E, fewer resources are spent on levelling her. Moreover, the fact that she is droppable post chapter 5, is easy to acquire from production, and that LWMMG has a first volley skill, means that she is a rare MG that’s useful beyond her stats. In other words, she can work hard for commanders until she is replaced by one of the Big 4 later on.

Boasting 95 FP, LWMMG packs decent DPS potential, when compared to other 2 and 3 stars, and even some 4 star units. Her shine, however, comes from her skill, Hunting Impulse. Granting 60% accuracy and critical hits for 6 seconds means that on fights with short walk time this cute MG has guaranteed critical hits until her clip is emptied. However, due to her extremely low ROF (90), compared to the typical ROF of MGs, and the long cooldown of her skill, she is especially unsuited for longer battles.

Her tiles are also nothing commendable; if anything they’re close to useless. As the main purpose of a SG is tanking shots, granting them ROF and damage amounts to little. Even to DPS SGs such as AA-12, 10% ROF and 10% FP makes little difference, as said SGs contribute little to the DPS.

Overall LWMMG is a budget MG that can service well commanders as they pursue the Big 4, but falls off hard once they have these. Being easy to acquire, and boasting decent stats and skill, turns her into a useful unit early on. If anything, she’s likely to be on most commanders' data farm composition until they acquire better MGs.

Strengths

Shield skill

Her passive skill is a boost to 1 SG teams, increasing the survivability of the SG. This means a formation including S.A.T.8 and P22 can exponentially increase S.A.T.8’s longevity.

FP stats

At pre mod, LWMMG boasted good FP stats. At mod 2, she boasts an impressive 102 FP, rivalling M2HB as one of the highest FP MGs

Weaknesses

Tile dependent skill

Her skill 2 being tile dependent not only means that LWMMG can’t be used at her best on 2 SG teams, such as on teams facing Pyxis enemies, but also that the SG cannot be moved while LWMMG is firing. Moreover, it limits LWMMG to position 4, which more often than not is occupied by a HG on 2MG teams.

Niche use

Due to shield buff of her second skill giving only 5 HP, LWMMG mod is best used against enemies with low FP, such that little armor stacking is needed to reduce their damage to 1. On ranking, that means ELID teams would have been her best fit. While Isomer and Shattered Connexion are in the past, she may still see use in the ELID area of Polarized Light day ranking. Outside of this, there’s little content where she would shine, as most content either does not require SGs as tanks, or is actually advised against fielding them.

Team Options

SGs with Accuracy/Damage Buffs

LWMMG, like other MGs, appreciates only Accuracy and Damage buffs. LWMMG, despite her low base Accuracy, actually has less of a need for Accuracy buffs, as her Skill combined with an EOT Sight brings her Accuracy to levels where Accuracy buffs start to show diminishing returns. Some possible SGs to pair with her, then, are KSG and M37 who will buff her Damage instead.

HGs with Accuracy/Damage Buffs

As stated above, LWMMG hits high enough Accuracy with her Skill and EOT Sights to not need Accuracy buffs, and therefore Damage buffs are preferred. Examples are SAA, Grizzly, and Mk23.

MGs

As MGs have no bearing on each other and LWMMG has no glaring weaknesses, she can be paired up with any other MG. A few examples are MG5, PKP, and PK.

History/Trivia

LWMMG’s self-conscious but eager-to-prove personality is a nod to her story. As a Prototype machine gun developed by General Dynamics, she was designed to fill the fire support gap between 7.62×51mm medium and 12.7×99mm calibre heavy machine guns. However, ultimately LWMMG has seen little action, despite her great potential to provide fire support.
