MGP Upgrade Kit |
Overview
M500 is a free SG given for free pre-leveled from Career Quests. She can easily be used if you have any early needs for Armor tanking, and also has a strong Mod.
Her Skill has a very long ICD, low uptime and isn't very important.

MGP Upgrade Kit |
Overview
M500 Mod revolves entirely around her Mod 2 Skill, granting both M500 and other allies in her column 25 HP Shields every time a buff is applied to M500. While this can be applied through her own Skill 1, this is both far too infrequent and horribly late still having a way too long ICD of 10 seconds and very long cooldown.
Her Skill 2 causes any multiplicative DMG/RoF/EVA/ACC/Crit Rate/Armor buffs to grant M500 and whoever else is in her column to get 25 HP Shields. The ally in her column here is a requirement for this effect.
There are several Dolls with repeating buffs that can repeatedly trigger this with frequent enough intervals that M500 can help her entire column tank linksplash enemies, such as Doppels. This obviously requires the DPS for the echelon to be in M500's column and causes her to be a specialist role.
Strengths
Free and Pre-Leveled
As M500 is both free and pre-leveled, she solves early immediate needs for Armor tanking, such as for Corpse Dragging.
Weaknesses
Not Outstanding Pre-Mod
Low base Armor and an effectively useless Skill, M500 pre-Mod isn't useful beyond just simple early Armor tanking needs.
Strengths
Constant Columnwide HP Shields With the Right Setup
M500 Mod with the right setup can produce constant HP Shields to help protect her entire column against linksplash.
Weaknesses
Weak to High Damage
M500 doesn't have the same kind of massive HP Shields as actual Evasion tanks with massive HP Shields, such as Alchemist and Suomod.
Requires Setup
If you don't give M500 the tools she needs to do her constant HP Shields, she is just a weak SG with low Armor.
Full Analysis
Some examples of repeating triggers for M500's Skill 2 are as follows:
- Fervor talent for Fairies, this triggers every 8 seconds, even after it reaches full strength at 16 seconds. Only disappears with cleansing from Quills or such.
- M1895 Mod's Skill 2 causes her to give two buffs every 7 attacks. This averages out to almost every 8 seconds.
- SAA Mod's Skill 2 grants 2 buffs every 4 seconds. Her Skill 1 also grants 1 buff every 12 seconds.
- Python triggers M500 both through her Echo from other buffs as well as applying a buff with every attack during her Skill.
Additionally, CDR on HGs cause them to use their Skills more often. (This also causes SAA's Skill 2 to trigger more frequently.)

History/Trivia
Mossberg 500 is a series of pump-action shotguns manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. introduced in 1960, all model 500s are based on the same basic concept designed by Carl Benson, with the name "Model 500" covering an entire family of pump shotguns designed to chamber 3-inch (76 mm) "magnum" shells. The standard model holds five 2.75-inch or five 3-inch shells in the magazine and one in the chamber.
Fun fact: Despite belonging to the same family in real life, M500 and M590 do not share any connection in Girls’ Frontline lore.
Fun fact 2: M500 is often meme-ed with IDW, possibly because both have animal ears, blond hair, and blue eyes. It can also be because IDW represents the cat and M500 represents the dog, in a cat-dog relationship.
Fun fact 3: As she was originally intended to be a dog trainer, M500 has a built-in signal compiler in her digimind that allows her to understand dogs. This is revealed in Project Neural Cloud story. (Credits to Marsomir).
