T-Doll Analysis

Overview
As a limited map drop from Chapter 10, XM3 is not an easy T-Doll to acquire. Dropping either from Judge, a powerful Ringleader, or the commonly farmed Hydras in 10-4E. In return for the effort required to obtain her, XM3 offers a solid set of base stats for an RF, and a potent Skill that doubles her Rate of Fire at night.
While Assault Focus N provides one of the largest RoF buffs amongst RFs, it has an unfortunately long Initial Cooldown of 8 seconds, similar to G43. As RFHG teams normally strive to end battles quickly due to the fragility of HGs, this long delay strains the Echelon’s survivability. Furthermore, the Skill’s limitation of Night battles heavily restricts XM3’s usage compared to other RFs. As a result of the aforementioned limitations, XM3 is not as flexible as general-use RFs such as WA2000 and SVD, despite her ability to match them in DPS during her Skill.

Overview
Analysis by Hassium
XM3’s Mod fixes her biggest issue of an 8 second initial cooldown, and then leans incredibly hard into her night specialization. Her skill 1 gets a more ridiculous rate of fire multiplier, and she deals more critical damage/hits more often at night under certain conditions. Her stats aren’t really changed by her mod though.
Due to the improvements to her skills, XM3 Mod’s DPS at night time is hard to argue with. During the daytime however, XM3 Mod’s performance gets crippled. So for the most part she should be considered a night-specialized generalist RF (a bit of an oxymoron there).
Night battles don’t usually demand a solution like XM3 Mod, but she’s an option for those Commanders with plenty of other units already raised and planning to tackle some difficult night content they know could use her. It’s kind of similar to the attitude towards As Val Mod.
Also her mod SPEQ freaking sucks, sniper ammo exists. So mod 2 is a good stopping point.
Strengths
Situationally Strong RoF Buffing Skill
-
Assault Focus N, XM3’s Skill, buffs her Rate of Fire by an impressive 100% at night, making her competitive with other DPS RFs.
Solid Base Stats
-
XM3’s stats compare well to other RoF boosting RFs, matching or exceeding them in Damage and Accuracy.
Weaknesses
Night-Only Skill
-
XM3’s Skill, Assault Focus N, provides only 34% of its buff effectiveness during day battles, handicapping XM3’s performance considerably.
Long Initial Cooldown
-
Assault Focus N has an extremely long initial cooldown of 8 seconds. This puts greater pressure on the HGs to survive until her Skill activates, when compared to conventional DPS RFs with skills that activate at 5 seconds.
Difficult to Obtain
-
As XM3 is a limited drop from Chapter 10, players with strong enough teams to farm the maps that can drop her often already have access to much better RFs.
Full Analysis
Stat-wise, XM3 compares well to her RoF boosting counterparts, sporting a competitive 130 Damage and an above-average Accuracy of 90. Her Rate of Fire lags behind at only 35, but her Skill compensates for this shortcoming.
XM3’s Assault Focus N Skill provides a potent 100% buff to her RoF during night battles, though it only confers a much smaller 34% buff during the day. The trade off for this potency is an Initial Cooldown of 8 seconds, a full 3 seconds longer than traditional DPS RFs and HGs.
Although Assault Focus N doubles XM3’s Rate of Fire, her low base stat leaving XM3 with a similar RoF to WA2000 and K31 in spite of the substantial trade off required for her Skill. Outside of Night battles, XM3 will fall even further behind other DPS RFs due to the vastly reduced effectiveness of her Skill during the day.
As a result of her Skill’s limitations, XM3 struggles to outperform her peers in practice despite her strong Skill multiplier. Additionally, commanders who can farm 10-4E for XM3 often already have plenty of options for DPS RFs, further reducing XM3’s immediate utility even if she were to be rescued. While a determined Commander can likely make XM3 perform well in a team that can compensate for her shortcomings, there is no need to make her a priority farming target, especially as she will drop regularly for Commanders that repeatedly run 10-4E for cores.
Strengths
Taunt Immunity
XM3 Mod’s skill 1 actively retargets her and ignores things like taunts, so she can potentially ignore enemies like gladiators in favor of the squishier enemies behind them.
Stupidly Massive DPS Increase
Now that her initial cooldown is fixed, XM3 Mod’s 110% rate of fire self boost and flat 20% extra critical damage on first hit lead to some very respectable DPS. For reference, 5*s Lee Enfield and WA2000 only have a 75% buff on their skills, for the same duration and only 1 second faster initial cooldown. A shame it’s still restricted to night.
Sure Hit Mechanic
XM3 Mod ignores enemy evasion for the first shot she lands on any enemy during skill 1. This complements the fact that she’s a night-specialist, and doesn’t really want to be missing her shots.
Weaknesses
Night Specialist
XM3’s rate of fire multiplier on skill 1 and her skill 2 additive crit damage are both restricted to night time. Her DPS shrivels up at daytime, and she doesn’t have anything crazy to help herself out like Type 88 Hanyang Mod’s AOE.
Still a Pain to Farm
XM3 remains a drop exclusive to 10-4e and 10-6.
Full Analysis
Alright, full analysis. First, lets cover some boring trivia about XM3 Mod nobody wants to hear:
During Skill 1, XM3 Mod always retargets to the lowest current HP enemy, even if the previous target is not dead.
- Current HP, not max HP or HP%.
- Ignores taunts in favor of skill 1 targeting priority.
- Each activation of skill 1 refreshes the “first attack,” letting XM3 Mod re-activate her skill 2 on enemies she already used it on.
- Due to spaghetti, XM3 Mod always activates her skill 2 for every shot on bosses during her skill 1’s activation, not just the first shot.
- Skill 2’s critical damage increase is additive. (i.e. 150% crit damage -> 170% crit damage) It’s calculated after multiplicative buffs like fairy aura and Px4 Storm’s buff. So it’s a lot weaker than you might expect.
- The sure-hit portion of skill 2 is not restricted to night time, unlike the critical damage.
- Her SPEQ is actually a downgrade to Sniper Ammo if the enemy has low enough armor.
Just from a raw DPS standpoint, XM3 Mod is genuinely very strong. Her base stats, while barely changed by her mod, are acceptably high. Her skill multiplier out-scales the main 5* RFs by quite a bit. The lowered initial cooldown to 6 seconds absolutely makes her actually useful, because now her skills synchronize with HG skills and she can use it before the fight’s over. The bonus critical damage and sure-hits are icing on the cake. Bullet cake? Gunpowder flour? Whatever.
XM3 Mod’s mod SPEQ only gives +6 FP compared to sniper ammo’s +10. So sniper ammo is superior against lower armor.
Utilitywise, XM3 Mod has a couple interesting applications.
Her priority of the enemy with the lowest HP can let her finish off the more dangerous enemies instead of the tanky enemies, even when the enemy has a taunt to distract. Enemies like gladiators or smashers. This can also backfire if the most dangerous enemies aren’t the lowest HP ones of course, like strelets mixed with gunners.
Her sure-hit on the first shot can deal with more evasive enemies more easily, but since she’s not a firepower self-buffer, it more likely than not won’t be the killing blow.
Since her skill 2 bonus never wears off on bosses while her skill 1 is up, XM3 Mod transforms into a lean, mean, boss-killing machine once all the boss’s squishier escorts are dead. A permanent flat 20% crit damage bonus and she never misses, because every shot activates her skill 2. If the boss is relying on their evasion and it being night time, sucks to be them.
Team Options
-
RoF Buffing RFs: Other RFs with RoF buffing skills make good teammates for XM3, allowing for easy synergy. SVD is the prime candidate for this role, but Commanders should be mindful to avoid matching the Rate of Fire of both RFs. This can result in corpse whipping - a phenomenon resulting from two RFs with the same RoF always hitting the same enemy and thus wasting DPS should the first RF fully kill the target. For this reason, K31 and WA2000 are not recommended, as when paired with the majority of RoF buffing HGs, they hit the same RoF as XM3. Commanders wishing to use XM3 with other RoF boosting RFs should test their specific echelons to ensure that this is not an issue.
-
RoF Buffing HGs: Due to her exceptional RoF buff, XM3 can approach the Rate of Fire cap with only one RoF-buffing teammate. M950A, Five-seveN, and Stechkin all fill this spot well, while debuffers with RoF tiles such as Welrod MkII or Makarov can be used to top off the final bit of RoF needed to reach the cap.
-
Damage Buffing HGs: As XM3 is able to achieve a high RoF with only one teammate, she can benefit from Damage Buffs as well. SAA, Grizzly, Mk 23, and K5 all fill this role well, as does Px4 Storm.
-
Damage Buffing RFs: Due to her potent Skill Buff, XM3 fits well into a hybrid RF echelon. Corpse whipping will generally not occur when XM3 is working alongside a Damage-buffing RF like M14, Lee-Enfield, SRS, or G28. The Damage Buffing RFs are able to burst down high health targets, while XM3’s higher RoF lets her deal with larger groups of lower HP enemies.

XM3/RF |
In general, XM3 fits into a standard RF DPS echelon without special considerations. If using XM3 alongside a RoF buffing RF, she can be placed in position 1 to allow for better usage of the HGs buffs by her teammate, although care should be taken to avoid synchronized RoF. If paired with a Damage boosting RF, XM3’s positioning is likely similar, as the Damage boosting RF will want to take maximum advantage of the available buffs.

History/Trivia
The XM3 rifle is an improvement upon the M40A3 rifle system used by the United States Marine Corps, intended to reduce the weight, length, and noise, along with improved field of view. Developed from 2005 to 2006 by DARPA, the XM3 delivered on its stated goals, as well as being able to mount a suppressor, day and night optics, and intended to be used with a bipod.
While well liked by its users, the XM3’s limited production and semi-official nature meant that some problems with its usage emerged, and in 2014, they were transferred to the US Army, where they were sold via the Civilian Marksmanship Program, making them rare commodities on the commercial market, fetching considerable sums when they do appear.
