The Youkai Mountain was formerly ruled by oni, meaning the tengu had to answer to them. Aya is once again under the control of an oni but is unsure whether to submit or use her reporter skills to resist. For now, she's decided to go with the flow because, when she thought about it, she realized that's exactly how she survived during the oni's reign and in the time since they vanished.

Character Analysis
Aya Shameimaru (Pseudo Shikigami: Zendouki Gigaku) was released on November 17th 2023 on "Ultra Festival Prayer: Red Shikigami Contract." For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
Ayayaya, what is our favorite crow tengu doing in a new sage uniform, wielding a new axe? It would appear that she has become a shikigami…or Pseudo Shikigami? What’s more peculiar is that the very being in control of Aya is not even Aya herself, but rather one of Yukari Yakumo’s crows named Zenki! With Zenki's identity as an One and a Tengu coming to life in Aya’s body, and with this new shikigami having an increase in power in exchange for her typical search for a Bunbunmaru News scoop, how will this contribute to solving the Lost Word incident?
Lr Aya Shameimaru is a Technical-Class Friend who leaves her enemies in the dust with her solid team support mostly including Spirit Power, strong damage potential, and her ability to mainly inflict and break Burn barriers.
As a Attacker / Supporter / Debuffer
- Increases the damage of her bullet lines by 25% when one of her Earth/Fire/Wood/Metal bullets are resisted by said enemy.
- Grants the team Spirit Power buffs, with both Skills 2 and 3 providing 0.55 Spirit Power to the team, and Spell Cards 1 and 2’s Post-ATKs increasing the team’s Spirit Power both by 0.85 each. Last Word’s Post-ATK increases Lr Aya’s Spirit Power by 2.00.
- Yin ATK buff for the team via Skill 1.
- Yin DEF Debuffs on all Pre-ATKs on Spell Cards and Last Word (All targets on Spell Card 1 and Last Word, 1 target on Spell Card 2).
- CRIT ATK buff for the team via Skill 2, as well as some bullet lines at 3P on Focus Shot, Spell Card 1 and Last Word increasing Lr Aya’s CRIT ATK by 2 stages.
- Accuracy buff for the team via Skill 3.
- Agility buffs for the team when Boosting and through Last Word Pre-ATK. Several bullet lines also increase Lr Aya’s Agility, and also contribute to her Slice Scaling, including her Last Word’s 150% Slice Scaling on lines 1, 2, 5 and 6.
- Lr Aya’s Killer range includes God, Beast, Fairy, Human, Parallel Presence, Tengu and Oni.
As a Utility / Breaker
- In terms of elements, Lr Aya’s Spread Shot has 3 of Wood and 3 of Metal with her Focus Shot having 4 of Metal and 2 of Wood. Spell Card 1 has 2 of Wood, Fire and Metal, Spell Card 2 has 4 of Earth and 2 of Fire and Last Word has 4 of Earth as well as 1 of both Fire and Metal.
- Lr Aya benefits from Burn anomalies, with her gaining a stage of Agility, Accuracy and Evasion for every layer inflicted on her. Skill 1 inflicts 4 layers of it onto herself.
- Inflicts and breaks Burn anomalies onto her enemies. Inflictions via Skill 1 (2 layers) and Spell Card 1 (3 layers) and breaks via Solo Focus Shot (2P), All Spell Card 1 (3P) and All Last Word (2P). In addition, Lr Aya also has some Paralyze breaking potential via Solo Focus Shot (2P), Solo Spell Card 2 (2P) and All Last Word (3P).
- Evasion buffs for the team via Skill 3 and Last Word Pre-ATK.
- Spell Card 2 Post-ATK adds 2 Barriers for Lr Aya.
- Takes 30% less damage from Fire, Metal and Star elements.
- Focus DOWN against specific targets on several bullet lines on Solo-Targeting Spread Shot, Focus Shot and Spell Card 2.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on November 17, 2023)
Spell Card
To get the most out of Lr Aya’s breaking and bullet line buffs, Spirit Power is extremely important for her, as she can thrive more on 3P attacks. If that is covered, then doubling down on her supportive capabilities or further enhancing her own power via Yin ATK or even CRIT ATK if necessary doesn’t hurt either. Agility buffs are extremely optional given how frequent they appear in Lr Aya’s bullet lines (unless it’s team Agility support), but outside of that, if focused on damage, you can look to Body-Boosting Bullets (or maybe Earth) for Spell Card 2 and for Spell Card 1, either Wood or Energy Bullets, preferably Energy.

Last Word
Shrine Maiden Reborn
Summer God, Fantasy Sea
A Curious Festival
19th Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai
First Tea of the Season
Western Alchemy Crystals
Having an Ofuda Last Word, Lr Aya definitely benefits from Shrine Maiden Reborn and Summer God, Fantasy Sea the most, moreso the former for the Yin ATK stat and Yin ATK buffs, but both are able to provide a 50% Ofuda boost. However, other options that may arise include Hifuu L?’s very own At the Usual Cafe Terrace for those 4 lines of Earth getting a 50% Boost and a CRIT ATK buff.
For lesser options on the Ofuda side, we have First Tea of the Season and Dayuu’s Card Shop for their 30% Ofuda boosts, and for the 25% boosts, there are options like 19th Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai (with a slight CRIT ATK buff), A Curious Festival (with a Yin ATK buff), Reimu’s Great Exorcism and Test of Courage Duo.
If you want to play around with Earth damage outside of the best Earth choice above, there are other options like Idola-Deus and Western Alchemy Crystals, the latter boosting both Earth and Metal by 35% making 5 bullet lines more powerful instead of 4.
That said however, if you have Shrine Maiden Reborn or Summer God, Fantasy Sea, it’s recommended to put one of those on Lr Aya’s Last Word above all else.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
With Skills 2 and 3 being neck and neck in terms of Spirit Power pros, it’s up to you which one to go with first. Maybe you want number 2, Open-Mouth Kishin because of that CRIT ATK for the team or you might want number 3, Zenki the Shikigami first for the Accuracy buff for the team. Either works well for leveling up first but for the sake of decisiveness, we will go for Open-Mouth Kishin as it’s accessible first. With the one coming up last being Village’s Red Oni, it’s by no means a bad Skill with the Yin ATK and Burn effects, but can wait until the others are maxed out.
Character Strengths
Pseudo Shikigami’s Speedy Spiritual Support
Mainly found in her Skills, Lr Aya is more than capable of providing the team some helpful buffs in short quick bursts, mainly with Yin ATK, CRIT ATK, Accuracy, and most commonly, Spirit Power. With both Skill 2 and Skill 3 providing 0.55 Spirit Power each, both with a 3 turn cooldown, on top of both Spell Cards’ Post-ATKs entailing a 0.85 Spirit Power increase for the team, this pseudo shikigami is one to watch when it comes to her supportive capabilities, especially in Spirit Power.
A Scoopful of Power
With a 25% increase in bullet power if the element is resisted, a plethora of Yin DEF debuffs, a strong Slice Scaling (especially on Last Word) and a serviceable Killer range including God, Beast, Fairy, Human, Parallel Presence, Tengu and Oni, Lr Aya does have what it takes to deal heavy damage given her Killers land, leaving enemies to feel the wrath of her mighty axe.
Character Weaknesses
Limited Offensive Buffs
Despite her supportive capabilities including Yin ATK as well as having lots of Yin DEF debuffs to work with, Lr Aya’s Yin ATK buff only has 2 Stages of it on Skill 1 which is handy, but can only go so far, especially if said target ends up being fully broken, thus losing all buffs and debuffs. CRIT ATK falls in a sort of similar situation, although not as bad from a selfish standpoint if certain 3P bullets on either Lr Aya’s Focus Shot, Spell Card 1 or Last Word connect, increasing her own CRIT ATK by 2 stages.
