This attack sets the skies alight with huge lightning bolts. The messenger of the Dragon Palace carries the words of dragons, a heavenly premonition of soon-to-come calamity. This makes the work of Iku and her kind very close to the work of shrine maidens. In Japan, there are stories of a strange fish that similarly has an association with prediction. Shrine princesses (messengers of the Dragon Palace) and their fish counterparts have one thing in common: If someone looks at their picture, they can avoid hardship. Does the quality of the picture affect its ability or...?

Character Analysis
Iku Nagae was released on November 15th, 2021 in Festival: Messenger of the Dragon Palace.
Iku Nagae is a messenger of the Dragon Palace. As such, it is her job to “observe the mood” of the atmosphere. This is simple for her due to her unique ability, which allows her to read the mood of a room almost instantaneously. The details as to if this ability actually exists or not isn’t certain as there have been cases where reading the room of an irritated Youkai would be second nature to any normal person. Regardless, she uses either this ability or her own intuition to keep the mood of the atmosphere gentle and intact, very rarely stepping in to change it for anything other than emergencies. Touhou LostWord doesn’t slack with the beloved oarfish either, as she sits firmly as an S+ Tier Friend.
Iku is a friend who benefits a lot from inflicting Paralyze barriers onto herself due to her ability, which applies 1 level of Speed, Accuracy, and Dodge per the aforementioned barrier that she has on herself. She does this to herself via her second and third Skill, which applies up to 4 Paralyze barriers to herself and 2 to her allies. As far as farming’s concerned, Iku packs quite a punch. She has a solid T1 going for her due to her ability to both increase her SP by 1.0 using her Skill 3, using that to increase her Yang atk via her ability, and decrease the Yang def of her foes via her Last Word pre-attack. With the proper story cards and setup, she melts through waves like butter. On top of this, Iku inflicts 3 Paralyze with her second Spell Card, for 3 turns, which can result in 7 paralyze barriers between that and her third skill on all enemies in 2 turns.
Solo Stage Farms: 2-7-1, 3-3-3, 3-11-1
In longer fights, she still holds her own just fine. She has access to P0 Wood and P0 water shots (P0 Wood ST Spread and P0 Water AoE Focus), making her a strong breaker in that regard. In addition, she makes fantastic use of story cards consisting of Wood and Energy damage due to all her bullet lines being a full 6/6 Wood and 6/6 Energy.
There is a bit of a catch to her long-term survivability, however. Her third skill does still apply up to 2 Paralyze barriers to her allies, which could potentially mess them up. Regardless, Iku serves as a powerhouse in-game who struggles to disappoint.
Iku's Slice is as follows:
Electrostatic Guided Missile: 30%/30%/30%/0%/0%/0%
Veils Like Water: 0%/30%/0%/0%/0%/0%
Fish Sign: Dragonfish Drill: 70%/0%/0%/80%/0%/80%
Thunder Sign: Elekiter Dragon Palace: 70%/0%/70%/80%/0%/90%
Diggin' The Shrine Princess: 100%/110%/120%/0%/0%/0%
Story Card Recommendations
Spell Card
Since Iku already boosts her Agility to the high heavens between her skills and Spell Cards, she can look to either Spirit Power UP for more Breaks, or Yang ATK UP for greater damage. For Story Cards, look to those with both Agility and Yang ATK, with them being about equal if you can't get both.
Last Word
Easily the best card for our powerful oarfish friend. This story card makes use of her 6/6 Wood/Energy bullet line perfectly. In terms of alternatives should you not pick up this story card, Thunder Beat offers the same damage buffs only less.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
Iku Nagae’s skill priority should start with Electromagnetic Field to maximize both the barriers that she applies to herself and her opponents but the 1.0 SP boost as well. Next, Magnetic Induction should be leveled to increase the number of barriers that she applies to herself, similarly to Skill 3. Lastly, Earthquake Weather isn’t very good thus making it her last skill in terms of priority.
Character Strengths
+Powerful All-target and Yang damage
+P0 Wood/Water breaks on her shots.
+Can inflict up to a total of 7 Paralyze Barriers on all foes
+Last Word possesses 2 levels of 2 Yang DEF DOWN
Character Weaknesses
-Applies Paralyze barriers to her allies
-Weaker in longer fights, where she must spend Barriers to survive and thus cannot benefit from her character ability
