Should You Pull?

If you desire a classic team of Scarlet Mist culprits. The Player’s Choice Festival was first introduced in the 22nd Dev Letter in early April where in the Official Discord Server, you could vote for a banner you wanted to see in the game via the #players-choice channel. There were 3 options all having 4 pre-existing A-Type friends each. However, only the winner would get their own banner. The following choices were:

  1. The Scarlet Devil Mansion members (A6 Remilia, A6 Flandre, A6 Sakuya and A6 Patchouli)
  2. The Incident Resolvers (A6 Reimu, A6 Marisa, A9 Aya and A8 Reisen),
  3. The Cherry Blossom members (A7 Yuyuko, A7 Youmu, A7 Yukari and A7 Ran).

The Scarlet Devil Mansion choice would go on to win by a landslide, with Cherry Blossom and Incident Resolvers coming in 2nd and 3rd position!

Now about this Prayer, it has a few cool tricks up its sleeve, such as the beloved Ascending Step-UP, 20 Fortune Dust when using God Crystals, and the Friends in question even have a 2x Drop Rate! If for whatever reason you were unsuccessful in obtaining any of these Friends in the past, this is a great opportunity to pick one of these Friends up here, and while these aren’t the very best of units, they have their moments to shine one way or another. This Prayer will be available for a week till April 28.

Even if this Prayer doesn’t appeal to you, spending a mere 60 God Crystals for a guaranteed Friend with a higher drop rate for the Festival Friends, as well as 20 Fortune Dust is a very good deal, even assuming your luck might not be on your side.

And with that said, best of luck to everyone who is seeking a new A6 Friend from this banner, and hopefully your wish doesn’t get lost in the Scarlet Mist!

Quick Overview

Remilia, with her overwhelming might, reveals herself as a Speed type Friend with a strong emphasis towards Burn breaks.

Inflicts a massive amount of Burn anomalies, which she can break with her attacks

A6 Remilia’s 1st Skill, as well as her Spell Cards inflicting a decent amount of Burn, can break a large amount of Barriers.

Decent utility providing Agility, Yin ATK, Yin DEF, and barriers.

Thanks to her Skills and Spell Cards providing Agility, Yin buffs, and Barriers, A6 Remilia can support Yin nukers, especially if they have strong Slice Scaling.

Aside from Moon, lackluster sub-elements.

One factor that holds her Barrier breaks from being truly amazing is her spell cards having a weird spread of elements aside from Moon that makes her awkward to utilize.

Setup damage is on the weaker end

While her turn 1 damage is certainly not weak by any means, her lack of strong Killers or Slice Scaling makes her damage not peak as high, especially when compared to the higher end of characters.

Flandre shows the power of an Extra Stage Boss as a Speed-type character who is focused on Star Breaks and great Turn 1 damage.

Decent Turn 1 Damage

Due to the amount of Yin ATK buffs and Yin DEF debuffs that she can inflict on the enemy on her first turn, A6 Flandre can easily deal a large amount of damage on her first turn.

Team utility for Yin nukers, as well as Spirit Power Support

Thanks to her low cooldowns, A6 Flandre has the ability to support the team with Spirit Power and Yin DEF debuffs, while also providing Yin ATK by boosting herself. Her spell cards also help out by providing even more buffs and debuffs to the team.

Aside from Star, lacks strong elements

Her elements, aside from Star, lack focus which can make her tedious to use outside of Star oriented content.

Peaks early on, but doesn’t scale well due to lack of strong Killers

While her initial burst of damage may seem great at first glance, her Killers, or lack of wide reaching Killers, make her damage with setup not as impactful.

Sakuya Izayoi (A6) is an Attack-Class Friend who likes her Yin ATK buffs, elemental breaks via Fire, Moon and Metal and even some slight Yin DEF debuff utility.

Every spell card bullet is elemental; plentiful Fire, Metal, or Moon breaks

Elemental breaking is a strong point for A6 Sakuya, as shown with her access to Fire, Moon and Metal across her Spell Cards. With the first Spell Card having 2 Breaks for Fire, Metal and Moon, 3 Breaks for Fire and Moon on the second Spell Card and a Last Word with 6 out of 6 lines of Fire, this maid's elemental breaking potential is immensely valuable!

Support through Yin ATK buffs and Yin DEF/Evasion debuffs

A6 Sakuya also provides some useful support, especially on the Yin side of things. With Skill 3 providing the team 2 Levels of Yin ATK UP and Skill 2 weakening the enemies' Yin DEF by 2 Stages as well as the ability to lower the Evasion of all Targets by up to 2 Stages via second Spell Card, there are definitely ways for teammates, especially the Yin based ones, to benefit from this.

Damage reaches a ceiling in comparison to other units

As great as A6 Sakuya can be, she lacks the appropriate Killers to reach a wide range of targets, thus limiting her damage potential in a good chunk of scenarios. On top of that, not having any Hard/Slice Scaling on any bullet lines is another form of her damage having to come to terms with its ceiling. While her raw damage on her Spell Cards and even her Last Word is respectable on the surface, Killers pertaining to Human, Shrine Maiden, Magician, Incident Resolver and Human Village won’t always cut it sadly.

Too pristine for anomalies…

A6 Sakuya may have been too caught up in cleaning her act that she seemingly abandoned any use of anomalies, whether it be in relation to inflicting them, breaking them, having Ability effects regarding any of them, they are nowhere to be seen in A6 Sakuya’s kit. With anomaly utility playing an important part in contributing to making a great unit, not being able to work with them in any way will be a noticeable flaw.

Patchouli Knowledge (A6) is a Destroy-Class Friend who relishes her seven elements, anomaly utility, and magical power via multiple offensive buffs.

Practical Anomaly Inflictions and Breaks on Spell Cards

A6 Patchouli brings anomaly utility and uses it to her advantage. Her first spell inflicts 3 layers of Burn on all foes and can break those anomalies at 2P. Her second spell inflicts 2 layers of Poison on the targeted foe and can break those anomalies at 1P. Being able to cast and immediately break anomalies allows Patchouli to get some easy breaks in. On top of that, if she needs to wait for other Friends to inflict those anomalies after using their own spells, she can grant Charge to herself via Skill 1 to synergize well with anomaly-inflicting allies.

Damage can be great in the right situations

With Yin ATK and Yang ATK at 1850 and 1825 respectively, as well as a 25% increase in damage when using elements that are effective or resisted on an enemy, A6 Patchouli is really all about the concentrated damage. While her rainbow themed elements are not always going to be helpful, at least they can be mitigated by the aforementioned anomaly utility, and there are other issues to worry about anyway, such as…

Rather long cooldown on Skills

A6 Patchouli is able to grant her teammates Yang ATK, Accuracy and CRIT Accuracy through her Skills. However, the main drawback of these skills are their cooldowns. Skill 1 has an average 5-turn cooldown, but Skill 2 has a 6-turn cooldown and Skill 3 has a lengthy 7-turn cooldown which can be difficult to handle in longer battles.

Killers don’t hit many enemies

As great as A6 Patchouli is when it comes to raw power, one thing holding her back in this regard is her very limited Killer range. Only hitting Human, Shrine Maiden, Magician and Incident Resolver, her damage won’t always reach its true potential, although if it does, it will be great to take advantage of it.

Kit Overview

Remilia Scarlet (Scarlet)

The Speed Class Friend with the highest Agility stat in the game followed by a high Yin ATK stat (1600 and 1900 respectively), A6 Remilia Scarlet makes a great first impression. With access to Agility and Accuracy buffs via Burn and Blind anomalies inflicted on her, low cooldowns on Skills, ability to break Burn barriers and even some Barrier utility to stay afloat, the Scarlet Mistress aims to make quick work of her enemies on this long and fun night.

Flandre Scarlet (Scarlet)

Following her dear sister’s footsteps, A6 Flandre is also a Speed-Class Friend continues from where her sister left off, but with also some key differences, such as handy team support via Spirit Power, Accuracy, and Agility, as well as potential to debuff Yin DEF and CRIT DEF on enemies, as well as Burn them to ashes. Knowing her lethality, the Sister of the Devil has what it takes to tear her foes apart.

Sakuya Izayoi (Scarlet)

The perfect and elegant Attack-Class Friend that is A6 Sakuya is straight to the point with her Yin utility (teamwide Yin ATK support and Yin DEF debuffs on her enemies) and elemental access with Fire, Moon and Metal, with her Last Word being all Fire. As well as slight ways to buff CRIT ATK, CRIT Accuracy and Accuracy, nothing in the world will stop this maid from making you at least waste a bomb.

Patchouli Knowledge (Scarlet)

And last, but not least, A6 Patchouli, a Destroy-Class Friend who likes her seven elements, anomaly utility with Burn, Poison and even Freeze to some extent, and can increase the power of resisted and effective elements on enemies by 25%. Even if she is having an off day, don’t underestimate the power her tomes can provide for this introverted magician!
