Should You Pull?

Not recommended, unless you truly desire the wisdom of a Taoist saint. Out with the bridging of light and darkness and in with the bridging of Buddhism and Taoism! Two new Prayers emerge, both having their own Ascending Step-UP starting from 60 God Crystals and finishing at 460 as well as Shared Exchange Points with each other. Emerging from the Land of the Rising Sun comes a hermit with exceptional hearing capabilities hoping to prove that Taoism is the way forward! Here is to the Legendary Listener of Desires Festival Prayer, as well as the star of many desires, A13 Toyosatomimi no Miko!

Her release is coming up to a year old for Touhou LostWord Global and she is currently 1449 years old, but unlike her L1 counterpart, A13 Toyosatomimi no Miko opts for a Defense-Class instead of Attack (opposite of a certain Buddhist Monk), and this hermit definitely proves she can bring the defensiveness while sneaking in bits of offensive power. She is also currently the only A-Series Defense Class unit too! When it comes to being a defender though, she has what it takes to max out the team’s Yang DEF simply just by Boosting, Grazing or using her Skill 1, Spell Card 2 or Last Word. She does have a little bit of Barrier support as well, as shown via Skill 1 and Spell Card 1, but sadly no Yin DEF support. Her Yang DEF stat alone is very high for a Festival Friend, sitting at 1625, and with a bit of Hard Scaling and the aforementioned Yang DEF buffs, A13 Miko can do a good job at hitting extremely hard if the stars in the sky align for her. This takes us into what she can bring offensively, as Skill 3 strays away from tanking by buffing her own Accuracy and increasing her Spirit Power. Her Spell Card 1 and Last Word boost her Yang ATK and several bullet lines in her Spell Cards and Last Word will keep buffing her Yang ATK as well (as well as even more Yang DEF for overkill). EIther way, A13 Miko proves she can balance both offense and defense to a reasonable extent.

However, she faces some issues that may hinder her potential, such as her support being almost completely limited to offensive buffs. While the Yang DEF buffs can be great for Yang Allies with Hard Scaling, all she really has is her Last Word in terms of buffing Yang ATK for the team. The defensive support could come handy here and there, but it’s not always going to be enough for those who want the big damage numbers. On top of that, while A13 Miko’s efforts to help herself with offensive buffs are commendable, she does sadly lack CRIT ATK, that being said though, there will be other Friends out there who are more likely to get guaranteed CRITs on foes than our hermit, and with Killers like Fairy, God, Soul, Shrine Maiden, Magician, Swordswoman and Myouren Temple, it might be worth making sure her enemies have said tags, and if so, to bring some form of CRIT ATK support. Another awkward thing, although it could be a hit or miss situation is that A13 Miko’s Spell Cards are a bit inconsistent with their breaks, due to having various elements here and there, but overall, she mostly uses Sun and Water. This could make it a bit harder to capitalize on elemental weaknesses because of this, and while being able to break Burn and Paralyze anomalies is handy, A13 Miko can’t quite do it all in one go, as her Spell Card 2 inflicts them on all enemies, but Spell Card 1 breaks them on a specific enemy. Both her Spread and Focus Shots break Paralyze and Burn respectively though.

So with that said, despite the flaws, A13 Miko is not a terrible unit at all. However, she leaves a lot to be desired (no pun intended, at least this time). This is why this Prayer should realistically only be for the most faithful Miko supporters who desire her, although spending 60 God Crystals for 10 Fortune Dust will never hurt, and maybe that is all it takes. Ultimately though, when Seal Crystals may be finite, there will be other Prayers that will benefit the player more than this one, especially for the meta players. And besides, it’s reasonable to assume that this will be far from the last time an opportunity for this noble hermit will occur!

So as the Festival of the Rising Sun emerges, best of luck to anybody who desires a defender of…desires? Of the many sounds of Seal Crystals opening up to her realm, may she be transported to you and be your guiding light!

Quick Overview

A13 Toyosatomimi no Miko is a Defense-Class Friend with amazing Yang DEF buffs for the team, self-sufficiency for herself offensively, and a desire to defend her honor.

Ten Desires, Ten Stages of Yang DEF for the Team

A13 Miko is more than capable of maxing out the team’s Yang DEF, and this is easily achievable thanks to her Ability to both Boost and Graze to achieve this, as well as Skill 1, Spell Card 2 and her Last Word! Any Yang Friend who benefits from Hard Scaling will appreciate this, and of course, it will help allies take less damage from Yang-based enemies.

Self-Sufficiency in Offense as well as Defense

Despite her role as a defender, A13 Miko still has methods of making sure she can hit hard. While the above can help with Hard Scaling, Skill 3 also jumpstarts her Accuracy and Spirit Power, her Spell Card bullet lines as well as one of their Pre-ATKs are also great for boosting her Yang ATK. Her Last Word is also rather similar, except for the fact the Yang ATK buff via Pre-ATK is for the whole team, with more Yang ATK buffs on its bullet lines.

Self-Sufficiency in Offense as well as Defense

Whether it’s elemental or anomalies, it’s not quite easy to take full advantage of A13 Miko’s elemental access, especially on her Spell Cards. While her Shots and Last Word indicate her key elements are Sun and Water, there is a rainbow theme there, and it’s going to be very awkward against enemies with 1-2 specific elemental weaknesses. On top of that, her anomaly breaking is a little perplexing too, as her only ways of inflicting them are through Spell Card 2, ranging from 1-2 Burn + Paralyze layers per enemy. Unfortunately, she can only break Paralyze via Spread Shot, Burn via Focus Shot, and both through Spell Card 1. This could prove useful in some situations, but it’s not the most impressive display of breaking.

Limited Offensive Support

It’s expected as a result of her role, but A13 Miko doesn’t have much in terms of supporting the team offensively outside of her Yang ATK for her team via Last Word. All she really has is Yang DEF (could go towards Hard Scaling) and some Barriers. One of these missing buffs include CRIT ATK which A13 Miko even lacks for herself, let alone the team. But even if that was covered…

A Small Killer Range’s Starry Sky

...She wouldn’t quite be able to capitalize on that herself, because her only Killers include Soul, Fairy, God, Shrine Maiden, Magician, Swordswoman and Myouren Temple. Your best bets are most likely the first three mentioned, but those guaranteed CRITs aren’t going to be coming as often as some other Friends, but when the right enemies come, make sure to get that CRIT ATK up!
