Should You Pull?

If you’re unfazed by the Relic road ahead, then recommended. Less than a month ago, we had a Relic variant of a Shrine Maiden, hailing from the Moriya Shrine. However, that is followed by another Shrine Maiden, this time being from the Hakurei Shrine, known as L80 Reimu Hakurei (Karma Speed), available via the Chasing Dreams Relic Prayer! Naturally, a Friend with the title “Karma Speed” would also be just that, a Speed-Class Friend, right? Well more on that later. Regardless, this Shrine Maiden doesn’t need miracles, faith or donations to resolve incidents (although she would still like donations regardless), so let’s see how prepared L80 Reimu Hakurei is when running towards the tough road ahead of her!

Firstly, yes, the Karma Speed Friend is in fact a Speed-Class Friend, so what goes around, does come around! This means she is able to take great advantage of her high Yang ATK and Agility stat combo at 1900 and 1690 respectively, which combined with her huge Agility buffs (with a bit of Agility II) as well as Slice Scaling going up to 222%, you can definitely count on her to dish out the big numbers! But it doesn’t end with just speed, because L80 Reimu is very capable of exterminating a wide range of enemies, with the main ones being Human, God, Youkai, Parallel Existence and Mastermind (LW), with various location-themed ones representing previous incidents, such as Scarlet Devil Mansion for example, making her CRIT potential very strong on many enemies. Fittingly enough, this is similar to L80 Marisa’s Killers.

Other benefits that L80 Reimu carries with her include her rather impressive ways to support the team, most notably through her Skill 1, boosting Accuracy and Agility for them all, both greatly reducing the worry in Accuracy and adding to the impact of anyone’s Slice Scaling, whether it’s for allies or L80 Reimu herself. When it comes to Spirit Power, while this Shrine Maiden is very good with Spirit Power gain for herself via her Passive and Burn anomalies on herself, this also extends to the team with Spell Card 1 and 2’s Post-ATKs, giving them all 0.85 Spirit Power. More buffs that can be of use can include Barrier Buffs for the team, and even a slight Yang DEF buff.

Really though, the main downside to this Shrine Maiden is how she struggles with building up Yang ATK, which will need Story Cards or other allies to help with. The only way to gain these buffs naturally is through her Skill 1’s Poison anomaly inflictions to the team every turn, but even then, this could be a detriment to specific Yang-based Friends who suffer from Poison anomalies. Of course, it could be a positive should the teammate(s) benefit from it instead. In terms of raw buffs, L80 Reimu doesn’t seem to have the most CRIT ATK buffs in the world, but the same Skill 1, her Last Word’s Pre-ATK and various ways to debuff the CRIT DEF of enemies can make up for this. Other notable aspects of L80 Reimu’s kit that are in the gray area would include her slight usage of Evasion II for the team via Skill 3, which like the regular Evasion, struggles to make its mark, although in clear content, might come in clutch. Meanwhile, with Sun and Star elements prominent in the Eternal Shrine Maiden’s kit, there are also slight Earth, Wood and Fire elements sneaking into her attacks. It’s not a whole lot, but at least it is backed up fairly well by Burn anomaly breaking potential there.

But with that said, it’s another week of Story Card Spotlight! Despite another new Story Card added into the mix, it’s safe to say the Focus here will always be the Relic version of Reimu! The returning 5 Story Card is Immortal Battle to the Death, with a 25% Boost in both Laser and Heavy, as well as a slight HP recovery by 30%. Meanwhile, the new card that is a 4 Card is titled Youkai Mountain Concert, appropriately with a team Agility buff by 2 Stages (2T), limited for Speed-Class Friends, and a damage reduction against Tengu enemies by 25% (2T).

So is it worth going for the Karma Speed edition of Reimu Hakurei? Well she is arguably on the stronger side of Relics, thanks to her solid mix of strong Killers, great support, insane Agility stats and Scaling, and unsurprisingly, a great synergy with L80 Marisa! Speaking of which, while they work very well together, one could also argue that if you already have L80 Marisa, it might not be too mandatory to go for L80 Reimu, but she can still stand and run on her own two feet as a strong Speedy Relic in her own right! However, another Relic is blossoming and will be coming on January 25th, that is Yuyuko Saigyouji (Boundary of Time). Yuyuko fans may be wary of this particular Prayer depending on their Seal Crystal count, but as the title says, if you are unfazed by the Relic Road ahead and are excited for another variant of this Hakurei Shrine Maiden, this banner will be running until February 1st so you still have plenty of time until this Prayer runs its course!

So if you are ready to donate your Seal Crystals towards this Relic Prayer, best of luck to you, and hopefully she can use her Karma Speed to find her way to you!

Quick Overview

L80 Reimu Hakurei is a Speed-Class Friend who runs the roost with her stackable Accuracy and Agility buffs for the team, 222% Slice Scaling on her Last Word, a strong Killer range and anomaly mastery.

Speedy and Strong Youkai Exterminator

L80 Reimu has just about all the important stuff one could need for a Friend capable of pure damage against her targets. Strong range of Killers, massive Slice Scaling going up to 222% to go with a high Agility stat of 1690 (which can be maxed out easily, but more on that later), Agility II buffing on her Last Word Pre-ATK, Hard Scaling is also snuck in with some ways to slightly gain Yang DEF, Spirit Power constantly flowing in with her Passive 2 and Skill 3, using self-inflicted Poison anomalies every turn for offensive buffs, and self-inflicted Burn anomalies on bullet lines to add to her already strong Spirit Power gaining potential (Blind anomalies are also possible too). When it comes to raw damage, L80 Reimu uses almost any avenue possible to ramp up her power, and to great success at that! Should be more than enough to exterminate those in her path…

Fantasy-Like Support

The main reason why L80 Reimu’s Agility is so easy to max out, and this extends to her Accuracy too, is because of that satisfying Skill 1! With it being usable every turn, the Accuracy and Agility buffs lasting 2 Turns and those buffs also being provided to the team, anyone who benefits from Slice Scaling or would like help with Accuracy will absolutely benefit from this Skill! But it doesn’t end there, because L80 Reimu can share her Spirit Power boosting with her teammates through both Spell Card Post-ATKs. To a lesser extent, Skill 2 can also boost the team’s Yang DEF and if it counts as a form of support, L80 Reimu can even look to debuffing which can still be of use to allies, whether it be Yang DEF, or CRIT DEF (as well as a Yin DEF debuff to a very minor extent).

Shrine Maiden of Survivability

As somewhat of a callback to her L1 self, there are parts of L80 Reimu’s kit that may remind you of those survivability moments. A most notable example would be her ways of granting 2 Barriers to the team with Skill 2 and Spell Card 1, as well as L80 Reimu also taking 35% less damage from both effective and resisted elements. But it’s not just about tanking, since another way for L80 Reimu to require 1 less Graze for whatever reason, she could resort to her Spell Card 1 against a single enemy at 3P. Another way for L80 Reimu to survive would be with her rather solid Burn breaking potential, using her mix of Skill 3 and Spell Card 2 to rack up Burn breaks, stopping the enemies in their tracks.

Eternally Evasive Shrine Maiden

With Rank II buffs well and truly into the game at this point, we would end up finding more and more different versions of it, and here comes Evasion II, which L80 Reimu gives to the team via Skill 3. Unfortunately, the only possible use this can have would be in clear-based content, where any allies could rely on luck to clear a potentially more challenging stage, like a VS Divergent Spirits one at Level 120 for example. In short, it can be deemed less effective than something like the aforementioned Agility II buff in L80 Reimu’s Last Word Pre-ATK.

Potentially Poisonous Anomaly Distribution

This shares something in common with another Reimu variant on the beach, but L80 Reimu’s Skill 1 not only has what it takes to max out the team’s Agility and Accuracy, but it will give the team 2 layers of Poison anomalies. If they are immune to it or benefit from it in any way, then it’s a win-win. Otherwise, Yang Allies susceptible to this will slightly suffer from this. It may be possible to go about this in a strategic way when it comes to handling anomalies, but the ideal allies would benefit in some way, like L80 Marisa for example.

Sun, Star and a String of Other Elements

While L80 Reimu’s Burn breaking potential is rather respectable, and the way her Sun and Star elements are distributed, this Shrine Maiden isn’t by any means a bad breaker, but with Fire taking up some of her Focus Shot, Wood appearing on her Spread Shot, and a slight bit of Earth sneaking into both Spell Cards, it does slightly work against L80 Reimu, but it’s not the worst way to go about elements to be fair.

Needs a Jumpstart in Yang ATK Buffs

L80 Reimu’s only way of gaining Yang ATK is through her Skill 1, granting herself 2 Poison anomalies of both Yang ATK and CRIT ATK which she desperately needs, especially the former. While her Last Word gives her team CRIT ATK, and the various Yang DEF and CRIT DEF debuffs L80 Reimu has could mitigate this, it’s just a case of needing extra support to keep her Yang ATK and CRIT ATK up and running.
