Botzu's Quick Evaluation

+ A Puller Specialist with skills that focus on AOE crowd control
+ Free max potential 6 Star Operator
+ Talent: Significant boost to survivability for Abyssal Operators, especially when facing seaborn enemies. + Has stats and abilities that enable her to function as a Guard in some cases (especially useful for newer players with limited rosters) + S2: A good skill with decent cooldowns. It is especially useful in some Contingency Contract maps with holes where you can insta-kill some very buffed up medium weight enemies.
+ S3: Great crowd control and damage against lighter enemies, as it can trap them for its full duration. Can bunch up enemies to make them easier to take out with radius-type attacks (eg splash, chain)
- S3: High skill SP cost
- usefulness outside of the puller utility drops significantly against heavier enemies and for players with larger rosters.

Operator Overview

Gladiia is responsible for Aegir affairs on Rhodes Island (presumably because Specter can’t be trusted with diplomatic missions). She’s been with Rhodes Island for a long time, but she’s more or less unknown amongst her fellow Operators, as she focuses entirely on her role relating to the Aegir people. Rumors of her gory fighting style circle in Rhodes Island water cooler gossip, but very few people are aware that Gladiia is a 6* Puller Specialist who supports the Abyssal Hunter Operators, does bonus damage to lightweight enemies, and of course Pulls enemies across the field to their certain doom.

As the Aegir consul for Rhodes Island, Gladiia’s E1 Talent—Waves of Aegir—is perfectly in character. As long as Gladiia is on the field, the other members of the Abyssal Hunters constantly recover HP and will take less damage from Seaborn enemies. At E2, Gladiia enhances her own combat prowess with Survival of the Fittest, a Talent that increases her damage against lightweight enemies. These two Talents give Gladiia some much-appreciated extra utility, something Puller Specialists have traditionally lacked.

Of course, Gladiia’s main job is Pulling enemies, and her Skills do this with a vengeance. Her S1, Waterless Parting of the Great Ocean, is a cheap, simple Pull that notably stores multiple charges--something most similar Skills do not do. Her S2, Waterless Grasp of the Raging Seas, is also a Pull, but a very different one: for the Skill duration, Gladiia’s attacks Pull multiple enemies (prioritizing Blocked enemies) over an increased attack range. She also deals increased damage during this time, though she attacks more slowly to compensate. But her most visually impressive Skill is Waterless Dance of the Shattered Maelstrom, which creates a huge tornado on a faraway target. All enemies who wander into the tornado’s range suffer Arts damage, are inflicted with Slow, and are regularly Pulled toward the center of the tornado. Then, when the Skill ends, all enemies within the tornado (who are still alive) are Pulled towards Gladiia so she can finish cutting them to pieces at her leisure.

The big problem with Pullers up to this point is that they are usually only good when a stage has instant-death traps… and so far, any rarity of Puller can accomplish this job much the same as any other. Gladiia still somewhat suffers from this problem, despite her extra utility. Yes, she can do some cool stuff with her Pulling, but if all you’re doing is dragging stuff into an instant-death pit, 4* Rope is probably just as good and also much cheaper to raise.

Gladiia is only really going to pull her weight (pun intended) if you’re utilizing her kit to the utmost. If you love using the Abyssal Hunter Operators, are going up against lighter (preferably Seaborn) enemies, or have intricate plans in mind for S2/ S3 (i.e., exploiting the “Blocked enemy” priority on S2 or using S3 to drag enemies together for splash damage attacks) then Gladiia suddenly becomes quite powerful. She deploys at a cheap DP cost, has respectable DPS with S2, and messes with enemy positioning in fun ways. Plus she does a Puller’s regular job everywhere else! Not every Doctor needs the very specific advantages Gladiia brings to the table, but those who do should appreciate her very much indeed.

Newbie Tier List Explanation

Every player should have a Puller, and Gladiia is undoubtably the best overall Opartor in the Archetype. Even though lower rarity Pullers can satisfy the early/mid game pulling job just as well, Gladiia, with her decent DPS and self sustain, has the extra benefit of being able to double as a good Guard for players with limited rosters. Thus, new players will get much more out of the investment than "just a Puller".

Skill Discussion

S2: targetting priority is 1. blocked by self 2.blocked by other operator using normal targeting. 3. unblocked using normal targeting
S3: active tornado radius is 1.5 grids. Skill end pull radius is 1 grid. Targets enemy furthest from self.

Gladiia is a tricky unit to grade. She's one of those units that can be incredibly powerful in the right situations, but only average to worse in the wrong situations. On top of that, like all shifters, she has valuable masteries regardless of power on account on the increased shift strength at M3 (you'll note almost all other major shift masteries are graded elsewhere in the guide). And on top of THAT she is part of a very expensive banner on which prioritization is very important while being super expensive herself! AND ON TOP OF THAT all of her skills are good!

Alright, I'm done being dramatic. She's a nuanced unit, but the grading isn't actually that hard. Pullers are one of the tougher archtypes in the game since pulling often does more harm than good if there isn't a hole to pull the enemy into (compared to pushers for stalling). And while Gladiia is a tremendously good unit for a free unit, she's only about average as a 6★ overall, so promoting her at all couldn't be called mandatory by any stretch.

Gladiia's S3 will be the skill most will want to focus on. It has a niche that no one else can do, and most teams will find useful (in addition to looking real cool). It is a really good stall that can be deployed at a good long distance, and one of the only skills good for 'bundling' mobs together. Although it's not quite a mandatory skill, it's the sort that will always be useful to have in the pocket, and gets a big upgrade out of mastery.

Her S2 is a very flexible skill. It's less overtly flashy than S3, and the niches aren't as unique, but it covers a lot of ground. It has high damage, multi-targeting, a wide range (only matched by Cliffheart), and good uptime. If you wanted Gladiia to be a regular part of your team, then this is the skill to go with, however people with even decent rosters will generally find better units to place in those roles. The grade here is relatively high since it is both flexible and has good upgrades, but most should treat it as a waifu only skill.

S1 is the best short-sp pull skill in the game. The charge stacking is a really ridiculous feature that overcomes the cycle time issues that can sometimes arise from such skills. However it's very map dependent. Pulling is not overly useful if there isn't a bottomless hole to abuse, unlike pushing which can find use in stalling otherwise. As a comp, the best short-sp push skill is FEater S1. If you haven't found cause to do that mastery, you probably shouldn't bother with Gladiia's S1 either.

Profile

Gladiia, an Ægir, Ægir technology consul, Honorary Army leader, and the chief combat strategist of the Ægir military organization 'Abyssal Hunters.' The time and venue of her landing is unclear. Gladiia demonstrates exemplary abilities in a wild array of scenarios including confrontations against large creatures, hard objective demolitions, assault, annihilation, mobile warfare, and espionage. She is currently assisting Rhodes Island with its work as a collaborator. While she continues to fulfill Ægir state functions, she now also serves as a representative for Rhodes Island's Ægir affairs.

Clinical Analysis

Increase Trust to 25.
Imaging tests reveal clear, normal outlines of internal organs, and no abnormal shadows have been detected. Originium granules have not been detected in the circulatory system and there is no sign of infection. At this time, this operator is believed to be uninfected.

[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0%
Gladiia shows no signs of Originium infection.

[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.011u/L
Gladiia rarely comes into contact with Originium. What exactly caused the scarcity of Originium in Ægir's borders?

[Originium is not the only disease to befall us under this sky full of stars. The incurable disease wrought by the sea's infection is one and the same as the flesh and blood of other species.]

You're looking for Gladiia? You don't know Gladiia, then.
Hah, 'Has anyone seen Gladiia?' I asked that question so many times, but the only answer I've ever received is 'No.'
It's not that she's elusive like Projekt Red is. Most operators don't even know who she is. She doesn't even have any reliable rumors about her, though she does have a huge sense of dignity... Sheeh, she really doesn't give a damn about anyone else, y'know? The Rhodes Island Magnificent Seven didn't get its name for sitting around! I really oughta have them teach her a little...
I'm just kidding. Can you even say for sure who could take her on in a fight? I don't think I can. Abetting your operators to fight? Better watch out for the legal department.
Really though. You're definitely gonna be turned away, but let me remind you anyway. It's strictly forbidden to bring those Ægir to the training rooms. Don't even think about it. If you haven't seen Gladiia fight... You ain't got no idea what it's like. She sometimes complains about how dry her skin is, how there's no water, how that keeps her outta the game and whatnot. That's cause she runs way faster than arrows. When she fights, she makes all these loud noises, and, like, if she says anything to you during a fight, you'll be dead before you even hear it. Her lance's not for stabbing. She hacks at people with it like an axe, a sickle. It still leaves a whole bloody mess on the ground in the end, but it's creepy for real.
Seriously, you've never met her before, have you?

—Closure, chilling on the couch as she remarks to a certain eager operator while tossing her portable terminal into the trash can for the third time of the day.

[Of all the countries there are in this world, Iberia is the only one to have even a shallow understanding of the sea. From the way I see it, the difference between their countries' might and Iberia's is a result of their ignorance.
The societies on land are neither efficient nor safe. This isn't anyone's fault.
However, the Ægir must be traitors in their eyes, though that's hard for me to imagine.
I never got to know my father, but my birth mother was someone who enjoyed authority, indulged in worldly pleasures, and ever so short-sighted—This last part is perhaps arguable, but there is no doubt about the first two.
That is why I did not stay with my birth family. It took me a very long time to break free of my birth mother's control too.
My family are those who raised, acknowledged, and supported me, and not the ones who merely passed on their genes to me. I am not related to my new family by blood, and that's a common thing among the Ægir.
Kal'tsit thinks the Ægir's pride and isolation are sins in themselves. She likely has her own reasoning for that.
I know very well that these uncivilized landwalkers are not going to accept us Ægirs. Neither Ægir's culture nor its knowledge will ever be of any use to them.
Keep your weapons from the barbarians.]
—Gladiia

Don't listen to her. She's knowledgeable in transmission tech, she's just not giving you any of those core technologies... and we have no use for them either. Where are we supposed to even get our hands on those materials?
If she's mad at you, that's definitely a good thing! If she's polite, though, that means she doesn't really care much about you. It's not something she's going to say out loud because of her pride. We're used to people like her.

I thought Gladiia doesn't do research with the rest of us because she's always somewhere else.
I heard from Gladiia later on that there are actually two types of consuls in Ægir: science and technology. She's on the technology side, so she's not too familiar with theories and the like.
Ægir's basic education is really on another level. From my point of view, she's an all-rounder. Are consuls supervisors, though? Do scientists and engineers run the country too? Hm... It's quite hard to imagine, really.
By the way, military technologies are apparently technologies too.
Originium Arts don't count, however. She doesn't understand that at all. Are all Abyssal Hunters, like, completely insulated from Originium? Even someone with as bad of an infection as Specter couldn't use the most simple of Arts.
I think I kind of have a guess why that is, though she'll never admit to it.
I think the Abyssal Hunters have to be the product of Ægir's technological research. God knows how Ægir gets its people to accept that kind of research, though..
Ægir's technological level is really beyond measure. Its cities are completely invisible even under such immense pressure, its energy facilities are powered without the use of minerals, and its low-temperature alloy treatment process... the ability to transmit large amounts of information with minimal loss, and the blends of so many different species.
Dear god.
What's more, the ocean... If the lands are truly boundless, then what about the ocean? How many Ægir cities are there? There can't be more cities down there than on land, can there?
[Why haven't they tried to make contact with us?]

Now that's the million-dollar question. I shudder to even think about it.
...Those sea monsters... Just how bad are they that the Abyssal Hunters can't go home anymore?

What should the Abyssal Hunters do from here on out?
There has been no response to the transmissions that Gladiia made with Rhodes Island's equipment. No one knows what has become of Ægir beneath the ocean's surface, much less whether the other Abyssal Hunters are still alive.

I am certain that the Ægirs that the Iberians took in, the 'Islanders,' that is, were citizens of the sea who left their homeland after the events that unfolded there.
Most of the islanders are technological workers, with only a small amount of them scientific researchers. The science consuls? Leaving their magnificent, advanced homes behind was sacrilegious to them.
Though they were mere fragments of Ægir's technological advances, using the Islanders' technology, the Iberians immediately propelled themselves from just another powerful nation into a dominating superpower... The whole of Ægir's might and technological prowess are things that the nations on land will never want to witness firsthand.
And that's to say nothing of how the majority of those who live on land do not know that oceans existed in the first place.
Although Gladiia remains unwilling to reveal this information, we know that the few Ægirs there are in Iberia had moved there years ago, and that's also how the Abyssal Hunters came to be. From this, we can already surmise that the events that transpired in Ægir are no mere disasters.
The Abyssal Hunters are undoubtedly the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Ægir's military technologies. They definitely are not Ægir's last defense. They are its vanguards and its sacrifices, as though the Ægirs were trying to test the sea monsters.
Gladiia is not one to shy away from conveying her pride using etiquettes, but she cannot hide the fact that she is also trying to conceal her anxiety.
I can tell they have much to keep from me, and far too much.
She hasn't told you why the Seaborn was looking for Skadi, has she?
Speaking of which, the Seaborns are far from the top of the hierarchy of those sea monsters. There must be even more advanced life deep under the sea.
Gladiia tried to protect the Abyssal Hunters in her own way. She's afraid that the Church of the Deep and the Seaborns are far from the only ones who will try to do harm to the Abyssal Hunters. She believes the technology and information she holds are one of the few bargaining chips she still has left.
She is trying to trust us, but she remains untrustful of others. If she didn't want to help all of us fend off these threats from the sea, then she would be sunbathing on the deck right about now instead of running all around the world.
In addition, if an uncontrollable change is occurring to Skadi, then as one of the first Abyssal Hunters, the road Gladiia has ahead of her is just as bumpy.
Give her a little time. The training and experience she has will lead her to make the right conclusion.
She is still a citizen of Ægir, but we... we don't belong to any nation out there.
Ægir is yet silent.

Never give up hope. You must live.
Marah takes one last breath. Her light blond curls dangle on the soldier's arm. He hangs his head, a grim expression still on his face, as he tries his best to hide the tears dripping down his face. A round of applause. The show has reached its conclusion. This is where you stand up and join the ovation.
The Seaborns cannot enjoy theatrical performances, and the Sea Terrors don't know how it feels to enjoy music.
Never give up hope. This is our last line of defense.
Applaud these works of elegance. They may be the only assets our kind has left.

'Now, seriously, if you want to know how she looks like, you should go to Rhodes Island's balls. She goes to those every time she's on the ship. You can usually find her in the bars, too... She usually sits in the corner and listens to jazz music, though, so it's not easy to strike up a conversation. Balls, though. If you ask her for a dance, she's usually going to nod and agree even if she doesn't say a peep. Have you seen her dance by herself? No? You gotta see it, then. Her turns are like the wind, and her hair flutters on the stage like a maelstrom... I was so captivated, I didn't even notice when the music stopped... That's not what I wanted to talk about. When she dances with someone, she's like a whole different person. It doesn't matter how good a dancer you are. When she takes your hand and holds your waist, she makes you feel like you can dance, too. Even if you're terrible at it, she will never let you step on her dress. If she weren't so formal around everyone, I might just have... *sigh*. I'm so lucky that I still got to dance with her.'

Voice Lines

Appointed as Assistant Please leave for the moment. I will not permit any disturbance as I work. I appreciate your understanding.
Talk 1 I wish to avoid unnecessary headaches. On that point, we stand together. Given your rich experience, I am certain you are already well aware, but even when it is not their intention to do so, humans tend to lead themselves to their destruction. That said, until the time the others are fully prepared, it doesn't matter how much you rack your brains about the sea. It's all but futile.
Talk 2 Could you let your operators know to never touch my body or my weapons after combat? It would make me feel bad if anyone complained about any burns.
Talk 3 I sound a little too polite...? I'm not yet familiar with the language used on the land. Besides... and this is my only my own opinion, you wouldn't want to see me impolite, would you?
Talk after Promotion 1 As Abyssal Hunters, we must fulfill our responsibilities. To abandon the sacrifices of the past would be an unforgivable act of betrayal. That being said, how many Hunters can I still save other than Specter and Skadi? Even if I save another Hunter who survived, the fear may have crushed them whole long ago. It would only be dragging out their agony.
Talk after Promotion 2 Do you like to sing? What about dancing? How about a dance with me, then? It doesn't matter if you don't know the steps. I will teach you. Songs, art, music... You must never forget these things. These expressions are proof that all those who stand beneath that sky full of stars once lived. That's how they take form and live on. Come, let's dance.
Talk after Trust Increase 1 Kal'tsit implored me to seek your help, but I don't completely trust you yet. Your technology is primitive compared to Ægir, and your mental state is even more problematic... Many of you are fearful and cowardly. I cannot begin to imagine you people taking on 'that.'
Talk after Trust Increase 2 The air here is dry. Fighting on land sometimes leaves me feeling dry. This is better than being surrounded by the dead bodies of my comrades, however... when the sea was filled to the brim with shreds of their bodies. Their deaths get etched onto your brain, and the stench of their rotting bodies will fill your mouth each and every time you open it. Even so, we must never hang our heads.
Talk after Trust Increase 3 We are not of the same race. Do you think we can form an alliance in spite of that? Kal'tsit is far older than me, and I cannot begin to imagine the burden she carries, but they are all things that you must face one day... You need to get stronger. You need to not fear loss. I will watch you by your side.
Idle Hmph...
Onboard Dr. {@nickname}. I am Gladiia, the officer in charge of Rhodes Island's Ægir affairs. We will have many opportunities to collaborate in the future, but please see me as an outsider. I am not worthy of your trust yet.
Watching Battle Record I see. Your tactics and equipment match your kind's development progress.
Promotion 1 A new contract? I appreciate your recognition, but I already have many important missions assigned to me. It will be a while until I get to these new missions from you. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Promotion 2 War. The concept of victory doesn't exist in a war that revolves around the continuance of a race. The only conclusion it can lead to is the destruction of all other races under the night sky. We Abyssal Hunters put our lives on the line to fend off and delay this fate. Always, unrelenting, and without any regrets.
Added to Squad As your squadron's aide, I will participate in your trainings.
Appointed as Squad Leader It seems this won't be a difficult battle. Allow me to use this as an opportunity to train your operators' hunting abilities.
Depart You are as slow as though you are bogged down in mud, but don't let it get to you. I will slow down and wait.
Begin Operation Considering the level of this battle, allow me to save my strength.
Selecting Operator 1 Please, go ahead.
Selecting Operator 2 As you wish.
Deployment 1 Who's the prey?
Deployment 2 I'll take care of it right away.
In Battle 1 Be careful. The currents here will swallow the weak whole.
In Battle 2 Have you asked for my permission before you tried to run away from me, my dear prey?
In Battle 3 It won't take even half a second. This lance will pierce your heart.
In Battle 4 That's enough playtime with toys.
4-star Result Live. That's the only rule you must follow.
3-star Result An archetypical victory. One day, you will be able to defeat all feeble creatures that come your way.
Sub 3-star Result If the preys that got away have no means to share information, then you still have a chance to live.
Operation Failure How mediocre.
Assigned to Facility I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm perhaps more comfortable staying in my own little cramped dwelling.
Tap Please, respect the land's etiquette, Doctor, or perhaps discourtesy is more your thing?
Trust Tap Best be careful. My kind are all monsters in nature.
