小满生长在大荒城，从小便被人们热火朝天的劳动氛围所感染，相信“干多少活，吃多少饭”。在个子还没有锄头高的时候，小满就跟在职农们身后，有样学样地插秧、播种。年长的职农于心不忍，就派她去喂牧兽。不料小满就像天生和牧兽有缘一样，牧兽在她面前都格外听话。偌大的牧场，被小满管理得井井有条。
以访客身份来到罗德岛后，小满还是忙个不停。忙着在食堂和后勤干员一起研究新菜谱，忙着在疗养庭院帮忙照顾植物，当然还忙着给在这里认识的每一个朋友取方便记忆又好听的外号。许多医疗干员都表示，有小满帮忙照看一些年纪尚小的病人，安抚他们打针吃药，工作压力都小了很多。

罗德岛上已经有了不少“动物专家”，训练各种动物来完成某些工作的情况也不少见，可从来没有谁敢说自己有和所有动物对话的能力。但小满声称，不管是什么动物，她都能与之交流。
小满坚持要展示这项技能：她先是通过与一只乌云兽“沟通”，找到了在甲板上迷路的另一只乌云兽；接着又用笛声指挥几只磐蟹，捡起了食堂里散落的厨余垃圾（豆苗小姐坚称这是她的磐蟹们本来就会的技能）；最终，小满试图让眠兽去陪罗德岛上失眠的病人，结果自己在走廊上睡了过去。这样看来，似乎并不能完全排除小满真的有某种奇妙的能力的可能性。
按小满所说，她在五岁那年，有一次迷路跑到大荒城外，城里的职农们上哪都找不到她，就在大家一筹莫展的时候，一头老牧兽涉过大河驮着她回到了家。从那时起，她就开始与牧兽亲近。久而久之，她发现自己可以听懂各种动物“说的话”，牧兽会告诉她大荒城果园里哪棵果树上的果子最甜，飞来的羽兽会告诉她南方的花开得正好......当小满用童真的语调，绘声绘色地描述起那片充满传奇色彩的土地时，她的故事总会勾起听众的好奇心。

听众围着小满问个不停，小满肚子里似乎有讲不完的神奇故事，比如牧兽之间的“帮派斗争”，一只牧兽与一只羽兽的结伴远走，一条鳞横跨整个炎国的冒险......谁还会在意故事真假呢，只是想象女孩描述的乡野间的一幅幅画面就足够令人舒怀了。

除了与各种动物说话的能力，小满最引以为傲的就数她演奏笛子的本事了。
小满会骄傲地告诉别人，年年大荒城的社戏都少不了她的笛子伴奏。用一支小巧的竹笛，小满能演奏出风格迥异的曲调，或气势恢宏，以搭配社戏中波澜壮阔的情节；或悠扬婉转，让休憩的牧兽安然入眠。听过小满笛声的人都会惊叹，看上去瘦小的女孩竟能爆发出如此能量。小满总是乐于用笛声为周围人带去情绪上的抚慰，也喜欢根据心情随意“编写”一些旋律，在音律上不拘一格，听起来却也活泼悦耳，有时候禾生还会为这些小曲填上词。田间劳作的职农听到了，也跟着传唱起来。就这样，两人在大荒城留下了一首首童真的歌谣。
在小满模糊的记忆里，她听妈妈吹过芦苇哨。可她还来不及教年幼的小满如何用苇叶编成一支小小的哨子，就因“天师职务”匆匆离开了大荒城。后来，小满自己学会了用苇叶编哨子，又学会了吹竹笛。女孩学会的曲调越来越多，可父母迟迟没有归乡。时至今日，悠扬的笛声时时在大荒城的河岸边飘扬，等待着远行的旅人归来。

对于生活在这片大地上的人来说，“故土”是个很飘渺的概念。
谁都不知道何时一场天灾会摧毁生活的地方，移动城市四处奔走，村落不断搬迁，“故土”究竟是什么呢？是移动城市上日新月异的高楼大厦，还是天灾过后留下的一片又一片废墟？
但是有这么一些人，不计成本，不计代价，守住了一片重要的土地，千年之久。这样的坚守，是这片大地上极少见的个例。
小满就生长在这里，从小看到的就是这一块块田地，和永远在劳作的人。这里的一草一木女孩都无比熟悉，她记得每一块田地里种的作物，记得每一种牧兽爱吃的草料，记得有次从树上跌落摔伤了腿，禾生背着她走过半座大荒城，迎着落日回家......土地融入人们的过往、人们的回忆，继而成为人们身体的一部分。人们以这种形式与土地血脉相连。
于是她也守在这里，看着庄稼青了又黄，割了又种。看着这里的田地一圈圈变大，身边的牧兽一点一点地长大。她就坐在牧兽的背上，吹着笛子给路过的商队指路，给远走的旅人送行。

眼神有些空洞的樵夫也歪歪扭扭地坐在草堆上，背绷得很直，腿也很不自在，手中还攥着天师尺不放，明显是被小姑娘硬拉着坐在这里的。
“你把手给我，我把我的名字写给你，你要跟着我念哦！”
粗糙的手指被小小的手掰开，露出了掌心。小姑娘伸出一根手指头，在掌心里写了起来。樵夫觉得痒痒的，他听从小姑娘的话张开嘴，艰难地发出一点声音。
“小......”
“小——满。”
“小、小......小——满。”
“对啦！就是这样连起来。小——满，我的名字！”
“小......小满。”
樵夫低下头，微微地扬起了嘴角。
“小满。”
小姑娘高兴地蹦了起来，满头满脸都是草屑：“哑巴大叔！你会念我的名字啦！”

Talk after Promotion 1 大荒城社戏是用不同方言唱的，这是为了纪念几百年前来这里救灾的职农们。他们来自炎国各地，耕耘了好几代，才有了今天良田万亩的大荒城。能给社戏伴奏是很值得骄傲的，每年都是我吹笛子哦！
