Botzu's Quick Evaluation

+ Very slippery and hard to damage; has reduced aggro, and 50% Physical/ Arts Dodge
+ Regular attacks are ground-based AoE, hitting all targets within her attack range
+ Talent constantly regenerates her HP (the regen is increased if there are no allies adjacent to her), improving her ability to Operate solo and without support
+ Can survive well deep behind enemy lines and without support due to her high regen with Talent + S2, and the Dodge from her Trait
= Block-0 means she cannot receive melee damage, but also means she can’t Block enemies
- Usual archetype weaknesses: Very slow ASPD, which reduces overall DPS (and the charge time for S1, which has the [Attacking Enemy] SP charge type)
- Poor damage with or without skills active and has no crowd control to keep enemies in her range for her slow attacks
- S1 inflicts hybrid damage, which is typically not very useful, as it is reduced by both DEF and RES
- S2 has terrible uptime

Operator Overview

If you remember the 18-hour attempt to kill Final Fantasy 11’s Pandemonium Warden boss, then you have a pretty good idea how Kirara spends her weekends. A Higashi teenager addicted to video games (which have to be smuggled into her metropolitan hometown by teams of literal ninjas), she initially joined Rhodes Island as a clerk in return for Oripathy medicine. First she was doing administrative work, then she was repairing electronics, then she was discussing video games with active Operators, and before she knew it Kirara was a 5* Stalker Specialist with copious self-healing and AoE Arts damage.

Kirara is the first Stalker Specialist to focus on survivability over crowd control, giving her a new niche in the archetype. Stalker Specialists have Block-0, AoE attacks, and a wide attack range, and they also have high Physical and Arts Dodge from their Trait. Kirara reinforces this Dodge with her Lonesome Protector Talent, which regenerates her HP over time (and regenerates more if there are no allied units adjacent to her). Meanwhile, in lieu of crowd control, she instead brings Arts damage to the table with her Skills: Anchor Strike (S1), which adds additional Arts damage to her next attack, and Anchor Point Snap (S2), which increases her self-healing and deals constant Arts damage to enemies within range for a short duration.

Kirara’s kit is geared toward solo-raiding, deployed deep into enemy lines and far away from ally support. Block-0 makes her virtually immune to melee enemies, and hybrid Dodge plus HP regeneration means she can take a lot of punishment from ranged enemies. She’s quite capable of standing right in front of the enemy spawn point, absorbing ranged hits and chipping away at foes as they run by her.

The problem is that Kirara doesn’t typically do a whole lot while she stands there. Between her slow ASPD and low damage modifiers on her Skills, her DPS is low, and because she has no crowd control, she can’t keep enemies in her range in order to keep hitting them. Her Skills also have terrible uptime: because S1 has the [Attacking Enemy] SP charge type, it takes slow-moving Kirara a long time to charge it despite the low SP cost, and S2 has a terribly short duration. Combining these factors together, it can be hard to justify giving Kirara a spot on the field… unless, of course, you need someone to absorb heavy fire from a ranged boss or elite enemy. Kirara certainly gets a high score in that department (though unfortunately for her, there are usually better options for that as well).

Newbie Tier List Explanation

Kirara has poor DPS, lack of other utility, and cannot block, making her an extremely poor choice for new players.

Skill Discussion

Skill Mastery
Kirara is not worth investing in. She is one of the worst units in recent memory, which is a shame. The only reason she isn't a bigger meme is that Passenger already stole that spotlight and 5★s generally get less attention. She has no control and mediocre damage. She seemingly loses those things in favor of sustain, but there just isn't any value there for what the archtype does. There isn't enough there to survive the bigger threats unaided, even with the benefits of her archtype. A lack of a good niche and very poor damage is bad combination in this game.

She's a waifu only unit, but if you really insisted I would stick with S1. It has some decent gains and better overall damage than S2. S2 has better burst with additional sustain, but it's such a small mastery gain and such a mediocre skill, that it's really hard to suggest over S1.

Kirara comes from a small-scale nomadic city in the south of Higashi, falling under the jurisdiction of Mitsumoto, the southern ruling bloc. The town borders the sea, the surrounding land level, rich in resources in all respects, and so a commercial economy has developed, trading fairly closely with its surrounding city regions.
At the same time, since it lies far from Higashi's internal two-power line of contention, Kirara's hometown has been less affected by the dispute. Prior to Kirara's own unfortunate contraction of Oripathy, she had been living a proper, stable life as a student should have, her only worry about the tumult of war being whether games produced by the north could make it safely across the chaos zone, for a smooth delivery by their hired shinobi.

As a patient who was introduced by Operator Utage, it never occurred to Kirara at the outset to find work at Rhodes Island, and become a formal Operator like her classmate Utage. For the introverted girl, Rhodes Island offering her treatment for Oripathy also gave her somewhere to stay for a while, and for the money she paid as compensation, it was quite a worthwhile deal. At first, that's all it was.
However, plans are where the little things always go awry. While the Higashi girl would shut herself in her room the majority of the time, using SMS in place of verbal dialogue, and making maximum efforts possible to avoid interacting directly with others, on her occasional 'outings,' she'd always come back having helped some operators while she was out, at times resolving some minor issues with electronic equipment, or being entrusted ad-hoc with instructing operators on how to work appliances, and once she'd even been pursued with inquiries for a walkthrough of a popular game at the time... In short, before Kirara herself even realized it, she was already on fairly good terms with our operators.
We very quickly sent a formal invitation to this Higashi girl, inviting her to become one.
Gratefully, fearful of strangers as she was, she didn't decline.

In Higashi, lineages of Ægir that migrated in and settled down like Kirara's are not uncommon to see. In contrast to our understanding of Iberia's internal situation, Higashi's Ægir by and large have not been faced with overt exclusion, putting down roots in the country without a problem. In the present day, Kirara's own recognition of herself tells the tale—without any weight to it, she can say 'I'm just a normal Higashi girl, that's all.'
However, as is plain to see, stemming from different environs in upbringing, Kirara and other Higashi operators—for example, Operator Matoimaru—have differing conceptions of many things, despite being fellow Higashi.

'The north? Uh... I'm not too clued in about what Kougon's like, but I hear everyone's pretty old-timey there?'
When Kirara introduced her homeland Higashi to us, she raised the subject of its two ceaselessly warring powers, each one occupying one half of the country, exerting their governances on familially unified grounds.
'Mitsumoto didn't seem as heavily armed as the guys over there.' When regarding the contrast in power between her own home faction and the opposition, Kirara first skirted around the topic, only conceding after a while that 'if the fight started, then on a face-to-face battlefield it'd be pretty hard to win... b—but, direct conflict isn't the only thing that goes into who wins and loses! Besides, it's not like it's just war and life's on pause. When it comes to economy, openness and good atmosphere—livability, that's it—then it's us who come out on top, right? Uh, not that they're bad or anything, just, that's how I feel about it at least.'
Beyond this, the Higashi girl also somewhat regretfully, and somewhat barbedly stated:
'Honestly, if we could just not fight, then let's not. The past few years have been pretty good. Been peaceful for a while. Sometimes I buy games from over there and shinobi even deliver them straight to me. But after I heard about it, it seemed kind of difficult to say. Um. I'm not really sure, I don't get it much myself.'
'I heard the eight families used to be one, but then they disagreed on something and that's why they've been split across ever since... *sigh* Honestly, isn't it kind of an overdone premise? What's the point? It's just a bunch of brothers infighting, isn't it?'

Operator Kirara's interests and hobbies are startlingly expansive, with a major love for all niche entertainment comprised in novels, manga, games, etc.—though she had no choice but to leave her home, Kirara insisted on bringing more than half her collection with her, leaving people speechless. Aside from that, music is also one of Kirara's passions; before catching Oripathy, Kirara used to have a part-time job at a bar near her home, and putting on music to fit each day's mood was one of her daily joys.
Per her own absorptions, Kirara has spent considerable time and energy, even at times near the point of foregoing sleep and food, throwing her whole devotion into games or manga. The shut-off manner in which she refused interaction initially worried people, but as we've spent more time knowing her, we've been quick to realize that it's not that Kirara truly opposes interacting with people, but rather, it's a self-defense mechanism of sorts, stemming from a mentality of fearing being hurt.
This fear is closely related to Kirara's experiences as a child. During childhood, her reserved character and her interests unlike those of the children around her led to her being bullied. The experience of being ostracized still has an effect on Kirara to this day; she fears that when she bares her own soul and displays her true self, she may well be rejected or attacked, and so she has preemptively avoided contact with others.
However, should you break past Kirara's inner defenses, and be recognized as a close friend, it'll be clear for anyone to see that the true way she treats people is sincere, passionate, and without any reservation.

There is always some way to clear a game.
So long as one makes the right choices, the people in the screen will turn to them and smile. So long as one strives hard enough, the enemy can be defeated and a good ending welcomed.
But reality...
There are no retries in reality. Reality has no choice that reliably wins others over and earns one smiles. Failures in reality cannot be done over, and that is why we dread and are scared of ruining everything.
But, if one has companions willing to confront the elements with them, face the trials together...
Just maybe, things are no longer as scary as when one was all alone.

Voice Lines

Appointed as Assistant Done with everything. Um... Sorry, do you mind if I read my manga here?
Talk 1 Doing human relationships is so not working out... And all you've gotta do on SNS is send a request and you're friends. Reality is a nightmare.
Talk 2 Utage was my classmate in middle school, and the one who introduced me here. What are we like? Not bad, I guess... but, Doctor, this is what you wanna remember: riajuu are a terrifying species!
Talk 3 Whuh? Why send messages even though we're face to face? I mean... it's 'cause it's easier that way, right, of course...
Talk after Promotion 1 Back in Higashi, I saw Koga election vans on the street a bunch. I guess their representative was pretty cool... uh, but I don't understand much about that whole side of things, so usually I just voted whatever.
Talk after Promotion 2 My family says that we all came out of the sea onto dry land forever ago, and that's how we settled down. Huh? Would I wanna go back into the sea? Mmnn... honestly, I could take it or leave it. As long as none of them get Oripathy, all of them are doing pretty fine in Higashi anyway.
Talk after Trust Increase 1 World's been kinda messy lately, huh. I hear us and the Kougon guys up north of us are getting heated again. This could suck... I wonder if the new games from them are gonna make it over...
Talk after Trust Increase 2 Doctor, do you... think my hobbies are weird, or anything? When I was young, all the other kids made fun of me a bunch, like, I was so gloomy, or gross, stuff like that. H-Hmph. Who cares what they said, not like it was anything to care about...
Talk after Trust Increase 3 Doctoooor, I'll lend you this game, and this manga and CD too! These are all masterpieces I chose from the heart so once you know them all we'll be soulmates, and then we can have so much to talk about! If you have any other genres you like you can tell me—oh—okay, how about you come over to mine and pick something out?
Idle Oh jeez, gimme a sec here, just a little bit more... just need to land one more hit! —Nice! Rare drop, please and thank you!
Onboard ...I'm Kirara. Nice to meet you... Uh, um... So that's all then? Can I leave?
Watching Battle Record Crap, this goes... uhhhh, but this is kind of a... humiliating name to give a special move, isn't it.
Promotion 1 A promotion? As in a whole job upgrade...? Ugh, middle management is gonna wear us all out in the end.
Promotion 2 I wanted to thank everyone for sticking by me all this way, and... uh, I guess this isn't something you should really do by text, so... um, tha-I mean, it-it's not anything other than that, even! I just wanted to say that!
Added to Squad If you want a supporter, I guess I can help out... I think.
Appointed as Squad Leader ...Huh? Me? Captain? Me? Are you being serious?
Depart Alright. Begin quest.
Begin Operation Ah. Yeah, look over there. Enemy came right out of the tall grass.
Selecting Operator 1 Huh? Started already?
Selecting Operator 2 Hfff... phew...
Deployment 1 Oh, crap. I think I'm getting a little nervous.
Deployment 2 I've... seriously never seen scenes like this beyond manga before.
In Battle 1 Cakewalk, coming through.
In Battle 2 This is good, right? Okay, I got it.
In Battle 3 Give me five seconds.
In Battle 4 Huh? Hey, that move was kind of... kind of pretty cool just now, right?
4-star Result Hoooooh, holy crap! You're kidding! You can take no-damage runs this far?!
3-star Result Quest complete. Phew... done.
Sub 3-star Result Aaarrnngh, missed, darn. No savescumming in real life. Whatever...
Operation Failure Yeah, this is done for. Let's quit out.
