黍小姐在来到罗德岛后,与重岳先生和令小姐来往并不算太多——倒不是说他们关系不好,只是比起对这两位哥哥姐姐,黍小姐显然对年和夕二人要关注得多。为年定制健康食谱,不许她无节制地吃辣,更不许她把这种不好的饮食习惯带给其他人;不许夕长时间在画里待着不挪窝,督促她偶尔进行体育锻炼,甚至是在罗德岛上干些力所能及的活——这可真是帮了大忙了。不过看得出来,虽然二人对这样的“关照”谈不上乐于接受,却也没有那么抗拒。并不是出于对姐姐威严的恐惧,而是一种体谅......

“预知未来”对许多人来说无疑是有着致命吸引力的字眼。我们知道一些古老的源石技艺,可以通过大量计算对未来进行推演。而黍小姐显然不会源石技艺,她的能力也更加的......玄乎。她闲聊时给几名干员以“看手相”的方式预言了他们接下来一段时间的“运势”,而预言纷纷得以应验后,部分干员间又兴起了一阵占卜学的热潮,一些想要乘此机会图谋商机的人(比如乌有先生)也得到了警告。
“种瓜得瓜,种豆得豆。这是再简单不过的道理,万事万物果寓于因,然而智者畏因,愚人畏果。就好比你照料一株庄稼,当你懒于浇水施肥的时候,便该知道它难结硕果,又何必等到亲眼确认才追悔莫及?人并非看不到因果,只是假装自己没有看到罢了。”
黍小姐依旧是带着一副睿智从容的表情讲述了一番道理,让人不好意思深究。虽然这并不能解释她到底是如何做到近乎预知未来,但黍小姐一家人都是如此,我们差不多也要习惯了。不过,一个人能预见到未来,她能改变未来吗?如果因占卜导致“未来”发生了变化,那她看到的那个“未来”是不是就变成了一个子虚乌有的幻象?如果不能改变,那这样的能力是否只会给人带来绝望?说不清楚,想不明白。但是跳出这一套逻辑悖论,黍小姐话中的道理总是令人受用的。

黍小姐的到来对罗德岛的食堂来说也是另一种意义上的福音。除了黍小姐本身厨艺惊人以外,更重要的是,她向采购部提供的几条采买物资的渠道,极大程度地改善了罗德岛伙食水准。罗德岛舰船四处漂泊,对于物资采购自然是以满足基本需求为标准,而黍小姐则是切实让我们意识到了原材料的品质能在多大程度上影响菜品的口味。大米粒粒饱满清香扑鼻,各种蔬菜水果新鲜可口,哪怕就是普通的土豆也格外软糯香甜。据黍小姐说,近些年来,基本的粮食产量得到保证,部分农业天师就将研究方向转到了改善各种农作物的品质上。送到罗德岛厨房里的这些,正是研究成果的一部分。

“我们失去了一位姐姐,当然,差点是两位。我和年被困在那个‘心脏’,离烟消云散恐怕也只是一步之遥。但黍姐她,则是切切实实地消失过一回。她留下来的一些痕迹确实消失了,也有人会永远地忘了她。但是她最在意的,那些田地,还有田里的庄稼,都还在。多少年来她从来没有用自己的能力影响过土地与庄稼,大概是早就料想到有这么一天吧。
我们死了,我们的造物也全部会消失。至于到底什么才算具体的造物......我若死了,我的画当然一幅也留不下,年造的那些破铜烂铁也是一样——她很在意这个。但是,从那些画中学到三两笔法的画家不会因此失去画技,因颉编写的书而识字的人也不会突然变成文盲,这就是区别。
当时黍姐散尽神识清除了埋在地底的邪魔污染,她的确消失了,但没有被‘岁’收回体内。或许是她与这片土地联系过于紧密,又或许她已经超越了‘生命’。总之,她回来了,没有缺胳膊少腿,也没有丢失什么记忆,她还是那个她。还有跟在她身边的那几个孩子,似乎恢复对她的记忆了。
这一次她确实幸存下来了,但是,下一次呢?

我还记得,早些时候,臭棋篓子常常会去找黍姐。两人总是沉重地聊了半宿,却又不欢而散。聊的话题还能是什么呢?两人本该是最聊不来的,没办法说谁对谁错。对黍来说,一季庄稼毁于天灾,还会有下一次;但对那个臭棋篓子来说,一着不慎,满盘皆输,之前心血全都会付诸东流。两人都想找到一个答案——其实我们看到的都是一样,只是看法不同罢了。这不是恰恰说明,我们越来越像‘人’了?
现在那个臭棋篓子已经做好了全部准备,还拐上了一个兄弟。他下定决心要和大炎一战,没人拦得住。我们都不愿意回到手足相残的时候,也不愿意让自己喜爱的人间毁于一旦。我们当然会阻止他,但谁知道他会做到哪一步呢?
