Overview

Eugene is a support-oriented Water Sword user, sharing his role with the Elisannes. Similar to Halloween Odetta, Eugene is a support adventurer first, with occasional damage bursts on the side. Checkmate’s unique charging system allows Eugene to focus on what he does best without worrying about wasted S2 SP. Crucially, S1’s Phase 3 offers increased Crit Damage for the entire team, synergizing well with the cooking duo’s Inspiration.

Strengths

High S1 Uptime 

Signature Tactics’ low SP cost means that new buff zones often overlap with previous phases. This in turn stacks Check quite quickly for more punishing Checkmates. 

Naturally Tanky 

13% DEF is a substantial boost, and although Sword users fight up close and personal, S1’s Flame Res preserves 70% HP relatively easily.

Weaknesses

Slow Inspiration Stacking 

Assuming constant crits, Eugene will become fully Inspired after 50 seconds, requiring help from the cooking duo to fire off more powerful Checkmates.

Dragon Recommendations

Gaibhne & Creidhne offer the best of both support and DPS by refunding a third of S1’s cost. 

Siren goes all in on Checkmate, taking advantage of Signature Tactics’ high uptime.

Halloween Maritimus sacrifices DPS entirely in favor of faster zone cycling. 

Leviathan is a reliable power pick bump who also brings Bog to the table.

Vodyanoy is a decent budget STR option.
