Character Analysis
B3 Marisa Kirisame was released on November 11th, 2021 in Ultra Festival: Lunar War Enchanter.
Coming to us straight with the release of Hifuu Lost Word, Marisa Kirisame (Lunar War Enchanter) is a version of the magician whose powers were sealed away. Whilst going in to further details on that would be a spoiler at the moment, rest assured she’s no less competent for it: instead, she’s loaded to the teeth with superior firepower. Featuring technology from Kappa Industries (run by, well, the kappa and headed by Nitori) and the Knowledge Institute (headed by Patchouli), she’s here to fight for you as an S+ Tier Friend.
For farming, she’s capable of doing a good amount of story card stages solo thanks to her high damage Spell Cards and All targeting Last Word.
Solo Stage Farms: 2-7-1, 3-3-3, 3-6-3
For harder fights, Marisa serves as a top tier damage dealer and Yin, CRIT, and to a lesser extent YANG supporter. For starters her All targeting Last Word, Remote Master Spark deals stupid amounts of damage, between its high base crit rate, 6 levels of Yang ATK UP, 3 levels of Accuracy UP, and 2 layers of Burn Barriers to all targets (plus a third to the primary target). Whilst normally Burn only works on Yang, much of Marisa's Last Word Bullets are tagged with Specular, which means it’s treated as Yin damage - meaning it benefits from Yin DEF DOWN and Burn (but not Yang DEF DOWN or Poison). Combine this with her character ability giving her party 1 level of CRIT ATK UP for 1 turn each time she grazes, and a litany of amazing skills which give, altogether: 1.5 Spirit Power UP with .25 being for the whole party, 3 Accuracy UP for 3 turns, 2 levels of Crit Accuracy UP for 3 turns to the party, 3 levels of CRIT ATK UP for 1 turn to the party, 2 levels of Yang ATK UP for 3 turns to the party, and Quick (to make sure her Burn goes first).
As a result, Marisa’s damage is absolutely bonkers and she supports the rest of her party with great damage to boot. On top of this, her basic shots have P0 elements: Spread Star gets a Solo targeting Fire Break, and Magic Drain Missile gets a Solo targeting Star Break. Love Sign: Machine Gun Spark is perhaps the weakest part of her kit, being a ‘mere’ 3 Star & 2 Fire Solo targeting Breaks for 2 Spirit Power with 1 layer of Burn to all targets for 2 turns with 1 more to the primary target. Lastly, Love Sign: Wide Master inflicts the same amount of Burn, alongside 3 Fire & 1 Star All targeting Breaks for 3 Spirit Power and 2 levels of Accuracy up for 3 turns (useful to ensure the Breaks don’t miss, although she hardly needs it for her Last Word).
Lastly, her characteristics are also incredibly good. Flare Automaton inflicts 1 layer of Burn to a single enemy, letting her crush a single target (which can be useful in some fights, notably Solo stage farming), and Mana Generator is a free .25 Spirit Power UP each turn.
Story Card Recommendations
Spell Card
Since Marisa already caps out her Yang ATK UP and Accuracy, she can look to CRIT ATK or CRIT Accuracy to boost her damage even further. Otherwise, look to Spirit Power to fuel her Breaks. For stat sticks, look to Yang ATK.
Last Word
Whilst the Yang ATK goes somewhat to waste, Ordinary Magician is Marisa’s best option by default due to the Laser DMG UP combined with that. Unmoving Great Library and Behind the Firepower are almost as good, and are perfectly acceptable substitutes, as are future Laser DMG UP cards. Failing that, Crit ATK, Crit ACCURACY are also options, or just a Yang ATK stat stick.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
First, get Syntax.VariableStar() to at least level 3 in order for Marisa to have 2 Spirit Power on turn 1 for farming purposes - after that, it’s personal preference. Syntax.Meteor() gives the most consistent output increase and supports Yang attackers, Syntax.Comet() provides the highest ceiling and supports CRIT attackers, and Syntax.VariableStar() also supports CRIT whilst giving her additional Accuracy to deal with Evasion boosting enemies as well as Spirit Power UP for breaks.
Character Strengths
+Incredible damage output.
+Great support for Yin & CRIT attackers, with decent support for Yang attackers.
+Good Element access, including P0 Fire and Star on her basic shots.
+Can put out a lot of Burn Barriers.
Character Weaknesses
-CRIT DEF support is situational.
-Bad Spirit Power generation on her Shots.
