Character Analysis
Sakuya Izayoi (Cherry Blossom: Illusion) was released on June 16th 2023 in "Festival Prayer: Perfect and Elegant Maids." For more up-to-date analysis, be sure to visit the Official Discord Server.
Perfection and elegance in the form of a human being whose mastery and dexterity when it comes to her knives and magic is second to none. Even if she doesn’t show it, the Spring Snow Incident has taken a toll on her, due to the resources it has depleted. It would appear that she is conserving her precious resources while making sure to dress accordingly for the chilling winter. Determined to put a certain rotting princess in her place as one of the 3 heroines, she has maid her mark as an incident resolver, wrapping up warm in a red scarf and bringing a mop to clean house, Sakuya Izayoi is here and she won’t be taking any prisoners, as time is of the essence!
A7A Sakuya Izayoi is a Speed-Class Friend who perfectly provides priority for the team, grants swift Agility, Yang ATK and Accuracy for the team, keeps her Spirit Power up and enjoys her Metal breaks.
As an Attacker / Supporter
- Lots of ways to grant Spirit Power: Skill 3, Spell Card 1, Spell Card 2 and Last Word. Her Last Word also grants 1.00 Spirit Power to the team.
- Party Yang ATK buffs via Skill 3, with selfish Yang ATK buffs via Boosting and Last Word.
- Yang DEF debuffs on all enemies via Spell Card 1 and bullet lines from her Focus Shot and Last Word.
- Wide Killer range includes Fairy, Youkai, Soul, Winter, Magician, Poltergeist, Ghost and Half-Human Half-Phantom.
- Uses Slice Scaling to boost her damage even more. Also can gain Agility on top of it, with some of the buffs being provided for the team as well.
- Accuracy buffs for the team via Skill 2.
As a Utility
- Uses Freeze and Paralyze anomalies to her advantage. Boosts her own Agility, Accuracy and Evasion for any layers inflicted on her, such as with her 0P Bullet Lines on Spell Cards.
- Enemies are also subjected to Freeze and Paralyze anomalies: Freeze inflicted via Skill 2, and broken via Last Word at 3P. As for Paralyze, as well as 3P on her Last Word, these can be both inflicted and broken via Spell Card 2, also requiring 3P for the breaks.
- Extensive Precise bullets on Focus Shot and Spell Card 1. If an enemy’s Agility is boosted, the chances of these bullets landing a CRIT will increase.
- Focus Shot has a 100% chance to Stun an enemy.
- Not only does she grant Quick to herself via Skill 1, she does it for the whole party via Skill 3. Can go hand in hand with her Stun utility above.
- Low cooldowns on Skills (3-4 Turns), making it possible to keep taking advantage of some of the above utility.
- Takes 35% less damage from Slash Bullets.
Story Card Recommendations
(Card recommendations last updated on June 16, 2023)
Spell Card
A7A Sakuya is desperately lacking CRIT ATK buffs so that will be an important thing to account for. Spirit Power buffs are helpful, but she gets so much of it already that it’s not as important as it would be for the average unit, allowing team-wide Spirit Power options too. Yang ATK options are also good options too, but if all of the above is covered, Slash is the forte of many Sakuya variants with the A7A variant being no exception (and also benefiting from Metal in the process)
CRIT ATK UP: Divine Spirit Tajikarao, New Year’s Shrine Visit VI, Miracle Mallet, Worlds in Hand, Bloody Order, Standing Behind You
Team Spirit Power UP: Myouren Temple Anniversary, Divine Spirit Tajikarao, Dancers Take the Stage, Utopia Tea Time
Spirit Power UP: The Witch of Scarlet Dreams, Our Dream, Dancer in the Puddle, Mountain of Faith, Youkai Mountain Anniversary, Taking a Breather in Spring, Post-Training Kinako Milk
Yang ATK UP: Ordinary Magician, Members of the Yakumo Family, Kasen’s Senkai, How Irrational…
Slash Bullet Power UP: Mysterious Sword Master, The Moon and Izayoi, Disillusion
Last Word
Another Sakuya, another Slash Last Word. And with a clear focus on Metal, we’re actually going to be putting Disillusion on top, due to that 95% boost in 4 of her bullet lines that happen to be Metal (50% Metal, 45% Slash). If that option isn’t available to you, there are also 2 great 50% Slash Bullet Boost options, The Moon and Izayoi and Mysterious Sword Master. The former has more favorable Stats whereas the latter also has a slight Accuracy buff. The 3 options above are definitely the way to go here.
Character Skill Level Up Recommendations
To help A7A Sakuya get to 2P right off the bat, let’s go with her third Skill, Supernatural Border. 0.50 more Spirit Power as well as additional Yang ATK for the team as well as its cooldown reduced by one third is very helpful. Next up will be Winter Maid Uniform. This one helps the team with additional Agility and Accuracy. Finally is Scarlet Mop, taking it from a cooldown rate of 5 Turns to 3 Turns, with Freeze anomalies onto her enemies and Evasion buffs for the team.
Character Strengths
Sakuya’s Spirit
Like some Sakuya variants that came before, A7A Sakuya knows how to keep her Spirit Power up, and this is demonstrated by using her Skill 3 and all her Spell Cards. Her Last Word takes it a step further, also providing 1.00 Spirit Power to the team after it is done. This might be the only way to naturally support via Spirit Power, but her ways of aiding her allies don’t end there.
Maid to Thrive
Whether her team benefits from her buffs or not, A7A Sakuya is also able to do what it takes to make sure her attacks connect. Across her Skills, her team buffs include Yang ATK, Agility, Accuracy and she has a Spell Card that will decrease the Yang DEF of all enemies despite being a Spell Card. for herself though, she can further buff her Yang ATK extensively when Boosting, with her aforementioned Spirit Power helping a lot. Anyone weak to Metal elements will especially feel the pain A7A Sakuya can potentially inflict upon them.
Conjurer of Many Tricks
A7A Sakuya doesn’t just deal damage, as her Skills are actually interesting. Their combination of fairly low cooldowns (3 Turns for Skills 1 and 2, 4 Turns for Skill 3), and being able to use Skill 3 to allow her whole team to go first in their priority bracket. This can also be fun to mess around with, even for whatever allies would also be granted this, but for A7A Sakuya specifically, she can also guarantee a Stun on an enemy via Focus Shot, making for a stunning display of gimmicks to work with, to say the least.
Character Weaknesses
CRIT ATK Hasn’t Maid an Appearance
The main thing holding A7A Sakuya back is her nonexistent CRIT ATK buffs, which as a unit with a great Killer range (most notably Youkai), this is an unfortunate flaw in her kit. It’s not something external support can’t fix, but natural CRIT ATK would have helped A7A Sakuya a lot if it was there.
Let Sakuya Have a Break…
Another thing A7A Sakuya falls short on is her breaking in general. For elements, her Metal breaks are not bad by any means, however, the Moon and Water breaks scattered in her kit are very hard to take advantage of. As for anomalies, her Freeze and Paralyze anomaly utility allows her to benefit from Agility, Accuracy and Evasion buffs, but the way A7A goes about inflicting and breaking anomalies onto enemies falls a little short. Being able to inflict Freeze anomalies on Skill 2, only to be able to break them with her Last Word at 3P, compared to her Spell Card 2 both inflicting and breaking Paralyze anomalies on all enemies could clash with those aforementioned Freeze anomalies, and this isn’t mentioning the slight RNG with the Paralyze inflictions too, potentially posing a problem. All in all, there is definitely a sense of awkwardness in her breaking, but it’s not a be-all or end-all case.
