All About Main Story Lunatic Clear Event!

Submit Feedback or Error

At the end of the previous Dev Letter, a special event was hinted at being announced shortly after the presentation. Well, if you didn’t hear about it already, you’ve seen it now: the Main Story Lunatic Clear Event! Like any good campaign, its premise can be found right in the title: clear Main Story stages on Lunatic difficulty for easy rewards! This short guide will go over the journey and rewards for the event in the order the cover image states, along with providing some insight on likely questions that players will have about the event.

Step 1: Clear Stages!

This step is where you’ll do all of your heavy work. All you have to do is clear 2 different Main Story stages on Lunatic difficulty 30 times: Chapter 2 Act 2’s “Return of the Shrine Maiden” and Interlude Act 1’s “Dark World of Youkai.” If the names of the stages are too hard for you, there’s a much easier way to remember them: they are both the last stages of their respective story segments and are the ones with story card drops on Hard and Lunatic.

A few important things to keep in mind:

  • No, you are not crazy. There is no in-game task related to this event. Rewards for the event are going to be given out later, and it is up to you to clear these stages 30 times and remember how many times you did so. The game already knows when you’ve done them 30 times, but you can write it down for yourself just in case.
  • The event is going on from July 13th to July 29th, even if there is no in-game task as stated before.
  • The clears on the stages do not have to be consecutive. You can take a break if things aren’t working out, or if you just want to try another team combination! Of course, Auto Replay can be used to grind up the 30 clears.
  • On a similar note, clear the stages 30 times again even if you have done so before, just in case. You don’t want to accidentally miss out on free stuff, do you?

And one last tip to newer players just hopping in on the event: as long as you’ve cleared all of the Main Story content on Normal, you can skip right to doing Chapter 2 Act 2 and Interlude Act 1 on Hard and Lunatic! For example, if a player has cleared every stage on Normal but never touched Lunatic in their life, they can still play the harder difficulties at the start of any story segment. This should help those who have not touched any of the Lunatic content and still want a shot at completing this campaign.

Chapter 2 Episode 7 Part 1 (2-7-1)

Reimu (or whoever else you bring along to clear the stage) take up a duel with the Witch of Scarlet Dreams herself, Marisa Kirisame! But wait…she brought some defensive cover along with her! No fair! This stage was before enemies started using HP Gauges, so it may be easier than other final stages, but Marisa will still definitely pack a punch! Check out the current boss guide on how to tackle the fight, which also lists farming setups that include a General Friend that new players receive for free!

Interlude Episode 2 Part 3 (3.5-2-3)

Reimu (or whoever else you bring along to clear the stage) got themselves in a battle of bullets between youkai rabbits, wolves, and even haunted statues!! The bosses of this stage (in the final wave) rock 2 extra HP Gauges along with some pesky seals upon breaking those gauges. As the latest Main Story stage, it can feel pretty overwhelming, but there’s help to be had via this recent guide!

Step 2: Ensured Benefit!

For overcoming those brutal trials, you get the reward of one Divine Paper Doll and 50 Seal Crystals…after maintenance on August 5th! As stated before, there is no in-game task or indication that you have cleared the event, but as long as you have made sure to do 30 clears on both stages before July 29th, you should be in the clear for the rewards! Every player will receive these rewards, unlike the ones in the next section…

Step 3: Giveaway Galore!

Finally, the other benefit of clearing these stages (outside of having a chance to obtain the very beneficial story card drops) is entering the chance to win even more Seal Crystals! There are two different chances to win, that being…

  • 10 winners receive 1000 Seal Crystals or
  • 250 winners receive 250 Seal Crystals!

This is a giveaway you enter immediately upon completing the required stage clears, without the need to sign up for anything. As stated in the cover image, the winners for these chances will be announced on August 3rd.
