Upgrade Summaries
Reimu Hakurei:
Reimu Hakurei’s Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 upgrades mostly serve to solidify her role as a tank. Her best upgrade is certainly the addition of 1 level of Self Focus UP (2T) on Homing Amulet, but unfortunately that’s also the only strong upgrade she got -1 level of Evasion UP on Persuasion Needle isn’t particularly helpful, and Expert in Slaying Youkai’s upgrade is minor and only applies to one type of (admittedly common) enemy. Due to the high cost of Fantasy Rebirth 2.0, and the overall meager upgrades to her kit, Reimu can certainly wait until you have an abundance of Heaven Scrolls.
Sanae Kochiya:
Sanae Kochiya’s most notable upgrade from Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 is absolutely the boost in firepower that Value of a Miracle gains, just over tripling its base firepower. It still comes with some admittedly large caveats: The damage on it is somewhat mixed, Sanae herself has no ATK UP or Accuracy buffs, and it’s a backloaded Last Word on a character with no native Spirit Power UP. However, if you can provide Sanae with all of this, she has some of the highest base damage in the game for a Solo target Last Word. Meanwhile, reducing a turn on the cooldown of Moriya Charm and Harvest Ritual is somewhat more niche, but can certainly make the difference in some longer fights. Overall though if you’re a big Sanae fan, the opportunity cost for her Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 is somewhat low, as Wind Scrolls are in lower demand compared to other types.
Marisa Kirisame:
Marisa Kirisame was noteworthy at the game’s launch for her more powerful than average All targeting Spell Cards for the time, and her Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 upgrades focus on this even further - more than doubling the base damage that Non-Directional Laser provides, alongside an enormous boost in firepower to Blazing Star. Do keep in mind however that Marisa’s access to self buffs is still rather lackluster, and she will require external support in the form of allies or Atk UP Story cards in order to make the most of these increases in firepower. Additionally, the buffs to Fighting Spirit and Magic Tool Crafter are rather meager, being small chance increases to already underwhelming passives. Finally, she requires the rather coveted Dragon Scrolls for her upgrades, and quite a few at that, which may delay your plans to upgrade other Friends, so it may be prudent to check your total number of Dragon Scrolls before upgrading Marisa.
Youmu Konpaku:
Unfortunately, Youmu Konpaku’s Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 upgrades are somewhat meaningless - a one turn cooldown reduction for Clear Mirror, Still Water is irrelevant when Youmu isn’t a stay-in fighter, and Swordswoman's Intuition is already a bad passive that’s getting a meager increase. Combine this with her upgrades requiring the highly in demand Dragon Scrolls, and her upgrades should be skipped unless you have an overwhelming abundance of Dragon Scrolls and you’re a Youmu superfan.
Sakuya Izayoi:
Sakuya Izayoi’s Fantasy Rebirth 2.0 benefits make her overall better - the only bad upgrades she gets are somewhat lackluster improvements to Maid Studies and Quick Rest. Otherwise, with the additional base firepower on Deflation World combined with the additional buffs from her skills, Sakuya will be hitting harder than before - though she’ll still need external support to achieve her full potential, and it will cost a ton of Phoenix Scrolls to get all her upgrades.
Reisen Udongein Inaba:
Reisen Udongein Inaba’s buffs are fairly simple - additional damage on all of her Spell Cards and Last Word, and accuracy improvements for her Spell Cards. Reisen still has the caveats of low personal access to Buffs and will require external support, but she can hit like a truck if you can achieve that. As a benefit, she also requires Cloud Scrolls, which aren’t as in demand as other types.
Nitori Kawashiro:
Nitori Kawashiro gets only one upgrade, and that’s a massive increase to the base damage of Super Scope 3D. With no personal damage buffs, a mixed damage type, and no self power gain on a backloaded Last Word, Nitori will require support to make the most of that upgrade. However, if you can accomplish that, this Kappa will hit like a freight train - and when it only costs Cloud Scrolls, that’s not a bad deal.
