Night Before Expiry

The Spread Shot of Fujiwara no Mokou from the world of eternal night (a Touhou LW original). She recalls and then re-forgets a crime she committed in her distant past. Within the legal system and society at large, there's a necessity for crimes to expire after a significant period of time has passed. However, this system cannot ease the suffering in someone's heart nor release them from feelings of guilt. Each time they tell themselves they can no longer be tried for their crime, they are reminded of their actions, and the guilt comes flooding back.
