Apparently, there have been attempts made by those in the spirit world to communicate with the world of the living. The souls of the dead are conscious beings, so it makes sense that they would work together to try and accomplish this. If that's the case, then perhaps communicating with them won't be half as difficult as expected. Attempts to do so are essentially CETI (Communications with Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) but for dead souls.
