Team GO Rocket Leader Guide: Defeating Sierra

Submit Feedback or Error

First Pokémon

Shadow Trapinch
  • Fast Moves: Struggle Bug, Mud Shot, Sand Attack
  • Charged Moves: Dig, Sand Attack, Crunch, Scorching Sands

Shadow Trapinch can get a bit spammy and/or deal a bit of damage with the right moveset, but it's genuinely not a threat.

Second Pokémon

Blaziken: Counter/Fire Spin + Overheat/Brave Bird/Focus Blast/Blaze Kick

Blaziken is incredibly glassy. which is good! It also hits really hard, which is bad. As always, resistances are more important than damage.

Lapras: Frost Breath/Water Gun + Blizzard/Hydro Pump/Surf/Skull Bash

Lapras is a thicc dude, and not a lot of Pokémon resist both Water and Ice (that can also actually hit Lapras). Don't feel bad about backing out once you see what fast move it's running.

Sharpedo: Waterfall/Bite + Crunch/Poison Fang/Hydro Pump

It doesn't get much glassier than Sharpedo, but you will take damage. Bug, Grass, Fighting, Electric, and Fairy are your picks here.

Third Pokémon

Houndoom: Snarl/Fire Fang + Crunch/Foul Play/Flamethrower/Fire Blast

Houndoom is weak to Fighting, Ground, Rock, and Water. Tyranitar and Terrakion resist both fast moves, and hit for Super Effective with Smack Down + Stone Edge/Rock Slide, making them very strong choices. Other than that, pick based on Houndoom’s fast move! If it’s Snarl, bring out Machamp/Conkeldurr/Lucario. If it’s Fire Fang, then Swampert/Kyogre/Gyarados are your safest picks.

Shiftry: Razor Leaf/Feint Attack/Snarl + Foul Play/Hurricane/Leaf Blade/Leaf Tornado

Shiftry has an incredible multitude of weaknesses. Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison, and that's not even mentioning the double weakness to Bug. You've got options.

Nidoqueen: Bite/Poison Jab + Earthquake/Earth Power/Sludge Wave/Poison Fang/Stone Edge

Nidoqueen's weak to Ground, Ice, Psychic, and Water. Like with Nidoran in the first slot, you do risk taking SE from Bite if you bring a Psychic-type counter, so keep that in mind.
