Overview

Terrakion is another raid boss that hits hard. It's not an easy duo with only two Pokemon reaching the mix of DPS/TDO needed in neutral weather, but it is still doable with a bit of luck and a lot of skill.

Approach

Team Composition

  • Prioritize Psystrike Mewtwo, though Psychic is borderline

  • Meteor Mash Metagross is another top performer and can pull off a Duo, though it is closer

  • Many weather types bring other counters into Duo range

Battling strategy

  • Re-entering will probably be necessary; be prepared with a second team

  • Dodging can help substantially

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.

Metagross Metagross
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Fantastic overall performance, hits hard and has solid TDO
  • Double-resists Zen Headbutt, resists Rockslide
  • Many trainers have at least one as it was featured in its own Community Day

Cons:

  • Each Metagross puts your team at more risk in neutral weather. Try to prioritize Mewtwo.
  • Requires Community Day move to be genuinely effective
  • Weak to Earthquake

Shadow Metagross

Despite the cost to raise it, a Shadow Metagross with Meteor Mash is a massively powerful Pokemon, and becomes the absolute top pick for this raid by most metrics.

Pros:

  • Resists Zen Headbutt and Close Combat
  • Common species that has been available since day 1

Cons:

  • Best moveset is Legacy
  • Frail species, benefits from dodging

Shadow Alakazam

Technically has the highest DPS possible for this raid, but to reach those numbers it needs its Elite Move, Psychic. Overall, not extremely recommended due to just how frail it is.

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

  • Great DPS, can help to get ahead of the clock
  • Common species in many areas, has been featured as a raid boss

Cons:

  • Noticeably lower TDO, needs strong support to be viable
  • Frail, benefits greatly from dodging
